Audio: Are Multi-EP Releases the New LP?

As The Oh Hellos conclude their four-EP, multi-year release cycle, I take some time to reflect on what this might mean for the future of music and how bands can be more strategic with their promotion and build more excitement using a multi-release approach.

I know I might be on the fringe on this, but I miss the full LPs. EPs consistently feel rushed and I would wait for a good LP. An LP is like refined art where the EP feels like a comic strip or a quick sketch.

Agreed. 100%. I enjoy the occasional EP, but so many feel like fillers between albums. Almost like just a cash grab and/or an insecure attempt to keep a name in the public’s eye (and ear).

You are definitely not on the fringe. I’ve never once seen a poll that suggests people prefer EPs over albums.
