Altar Boys Release New Album "No Substitute"

By in News | 2 Comments

Altar Boys have officially dropped their first new album in 25 years titled “No Substitute”. This new album is actually a collection of songs written after “Forever Mercy” and before they went on hiatus. The bare bones tracks have been re-recorded and freshened up for the world to hear. The songs run the style divide between their hit albums “Gut Level Music”, “Against The Grain”, and “Forever Mercy” while mixing in modern elements and a much fuller sound. It’s everything you’ve come to love about these legendary song makers and your expectations will be blown away. As much as I love those classic songs from the 80’s, there is just something special about the raw passion of a group of gentlemen coming to grips with their Faith, Hope, and age. This is truly timeless music and it doesn’t matter who you are or from what generation because these songs come from the heart. This album can’t be categorized or labeled as this or that, “No Substitute” is simply GOOD MUSIC. It’s rare for a band to maintain their legendary status for over 30 years and still come out swinging with the best of them. I can think of a handful of artists with or without the faith connection and to be honest some should have hung it up years ago. This isn’t the case with Altar Boys and as long as Mike and the boys still have a voice to share, nothing should stop them. Go check out “No Substitute” now on all digital networks. You can listen to the song “1000 Miles” below and I’ve posted the Spotify embed as well. Enjoy.

Hello Mike,
This is your cousin Wayne Embree from Florida. The last time we saw each other was 1974. I came out to Fullerton and I watched you run in your conference meet. Would really like to get in touch with you.

This album is excellent! Been listening for a week now and it’s as good as anything they’ve done. It’s better than Forever Mercy and as solid as When You’re A Rebel, GLM and Against The Grain. So glad they could put this together!
