Thanks to Lance Brown of One Moment Management for setting up this interview and to Nick for sitting down to answer my questions.

Which member of the band are you and what do you play in Before Their Eyes?

I’m Nick and I play the vocals

For those that are hearing about your band for the first time, why did you guys decide to go with the name Before Their Eyes?

We thought it sounded cool. We got it from a bible verse in Romans also so there is good meaning behind it.

Your new album The Dawn of My Death came out on Tuesday. Where did the album title come from?

We got the name from Romans 6: 6-7
For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin – because anyone who has died has been freed from sin.”

It’s pretty much about hitting rock bottom and the grace of God to allow us to start with a clean slate.

What does it mean to you personally to start a new life free from sin and all other things life throws at you?

To me it’s an amazing thing. It’s the grace of God to keep forgiving me for all the stupid things that I do. I do horrible things all of the time – so it means everything to me personally that God loves me so much to forget all of those things on a daily basis.

Did you guys give your friend Kyle ideas of what you wanted the album cover to look like or did he come up with the concept?

We gave him the general feel for what we wanted the art to be and he came up with the rad colors / art.

Is the sound of this record comparable to your last album? How does it differ?

I think its def. comparable but it’s different in the fact that everything is more complex / we took more time to write. Everything from guitars to vocals.

Can you walk us through a few of the new songs on The Dawn of My Death that meant the most to you and tell us why?

I think the 2 songs on the album that mean the most to me is “Life Was All A Dream” and “The Me I Used To Be” which happen to be the first and last tracks on the album. Life Was All A Dream is pretty much the concept of the whole album. Hitting your absolute rock bottom in life and God being there to pick you up and show you hope. The Me I Used To Be is a track that was actually written from a scripture in the bible when Jesus tested the faith of the disciples. Just listen to that track with the lyrics. Its one of my favourites. It’s all about faith.

What is it about Joey Sturgis production work on your first record that made you want to work with him again on this record? Did he live up to your expectations?

We just work with Mr. Sturgis really really really well. Everything we’ve ever done he’s recorded (from demos to albums). We didn’t want to take any chances loosing the sound that he captures every time we get with him.

You have 2 new music videos coming out in the near future. Do you have a specific date yet when we can expect to see those? Which songs are they for?

I don’t have any specific dates on the video. But you can expect the first one to hit in November for the song “Life Was All A Dream”

You guys have been with Rise Records for a little over 2 years now. What purpose does your record label and labels in general having in today’s music industry? Do you see their role changing a lot in the future?

Rise supports us financially and gets our album into peoples hands. We have another album left with them so we will be working together in the future for sure. It’s a great label with a big buzz right now.

If you started your own record label, which unsigned bands would you want to bring to the world?

See You Soon and Let’s Get It. They are both amazing bands.

How has being in Before Their Eyes personally challenged you?

It has tested my faith in a big way. I had to give up a lot of things to do this and put a lot of trust in God to take care of me & everything else going on in my life.

How long do you expect to keep making music with Before Their Eyes?

I think we’ll keep on making the music as long as we feel God wants us to.

Is there anything we can be praying for you guys about?

For safety & health on the road. Thanks.

Any last words for our readers?

Make sure you go pick up our album right now if you haven’t already. If you have go get another and give it to a friend. They won’t be disappointed.
