Lest We Forget

Posted by bloodwater On November - 11 - 2008

Today is Veteran’s Day, or Remembrance day, and I just wanted to say thank you to all those in our armed forces who have in the past or are currently serving.

Today we want to stop and take just a moment to thank our men and women of the United States Armed Forces for their tireless dedication. It is because of you that Americans can sleep in peace, knowing that you are “holding down the fort” and keeping us safe. It is because of you that our children can enjoy the liberty that they have todayTHANK YOU somehow just doesn‘t seem enough for the sacrifice that you and your families make everyday for our safety and freedom. We’re uploading Tribute to our player as we type. We invite you to take a minute to listen to it, read the words, and know that we are praying for our brothers and sisters.

God bless and keep each and every one of you!! - Disciple

Rick Warren’s Civil Forum

Posted by bloodwater On August - 15 - 2008

Rick Warren will be hosting what’s being called a Civil Forum at Saddleback Church where he will interview Barack Obama and John McCain for an hour each and ask them questions.  You can read the CNN article about it here and an interview with Rick about what he hopes to accomplish.  Do you think this is a good idea?  Has the events of the past years made you reevaluate which party you support?

“We’re going to look at four different segments. One is a segment on leadership. What is the personal character, competence, and experience of each of these guys.  One section will be on what I call stewardship — the role and responsibility of presidency, what they believe about the constitution, the role of America. We’re going to look at a section on world view — all of the minefield questions that no matter how you answer them, somebody’s not going to like it. Then we’re going to look at America’s role internationally. How we’ve been a blessed nation and how should we bless others.” - Rick Warren

Interesting Interview

Posted by JoshIVM On July - 24 - 2008

I ran across this video interview from a link while looking through Myspace pages. The interview background is explained at the site, but to sum up basically this girl was surprised to hear such heavy, angry, and screaming music at Cornerstone which is a Christian festival and how it could be legitimate worship or whatever. So she got into a conversation with a band called The Machine at Cornerstone and then they came back and did this 45 minute interview. It’s long but I found it interesting. I figured I would post it here to possibly spur on conversation.
