    2. Dan | September 5th, 2008 | 10:38 pm

everyone needs to check out news from verona! good stuff!

    3. dOdOnG | September 6th, 2008 | 9:30 am

      Cool artwork!

    4. Brandon | September 6th, 2008 | 9:53 am

I know, Isaac did a good job.

    5. ciEna | September 7th, 2008 | 5:54 am

      now, the nursery! :)

    6. Colt | September 7th, 2008 | 9:33 am

Nodes did an EXCELLENT job. that is really good.

    7. LenIVM | September 7th, 2008 | 12:13 pm

Broken Scarlet is from Australia too.

    8. Brandon | September 7th, 2008 | 12:31 pm

      Thanks Len :)

    9. Johnathan | September 7th, 2008 | 1:45 pm

      yes.. Ocean Is Theory again!

    10. Brandon | September 7th, 2008 | 2:01 pm

Sorry for the spaces between a couple of the bands above. For some reason there is a weird block in wordpress and everytime I try to delete the space it just brings the cursor up to the line above it. There is no way to delete those spaces. I think you can all live with that though ;)

    11. Sam | September 7th, 2008 | 8:52 pm

Yes, I love News from Verona!

    12. bloodwater | September 8th, 2008 | 7:56 am

brandon, did you try highlighting the whole list, clicking the bullet button and then unbulleting the list? sometimes that works to remove the spaces that wordpress adds

thanks for posting this…looks like another great compilation and more great music to fill my day with

    13. _pole | September 8th, 2008 | 9:08 am

Cool! No Owl City, but sooo much new stuff to listen to. Thanks IVM!

John Wayne, are you going to comment on the artwork?

    14. John Wayne | September 8th, 2008 | 9:16 am

dang you _pole for calling me out directly, haha! I was steering clear of commenting about the art…. um, I’m think I might have a Pepperoni Lean Pocket I found in my freezer for lunch. Looks pretty tasty.

    15. nodes | September 8th, 2008 | 9:41 am

i don’t get why john wayne would comment on the artwork…

i don’t get the lean pocket thing either…

    16. tyler h | September 8th, 2008 | 9:56 am

he would comment on the artwork because he likes to comment on the artwork because he is an artist or something i believe

      lean pockets are pretty good

      i’ll be downloading this…um…soon :)

    17. Brandon | September 8th, 2008 | 10:20 am

      Download is ready!

    18. Colt | September 8th, 2008 | 10:35 am

      wooo! 3% done!

    19. Nate | September 8th, 2008 | 10:38 am

i’ll have to check this out later… looks pretty sweet.

unfortunately all the bands i told to submit to this are deadbeats and didn’t do so. :-(

    20. nodes | September 8th, 2008 | 10:59 am

i’m gonna be making 5×7, 8.5×11, and 11×17 print quality PDF promotional posters posters featuring the artwork and the website to download the comp at. i want people to be able to print out the posters and promote it offline as well as online.

    21. LenIVM | September 8th, 2008 | 11:07 am

John, nice changing of the topic.

So, what do you think about the artwork?

    22. Colt | September 8th, 2008 | 11:25 am

That would be cool to have physical posters.

      Listening Now!

    23. tyler h | September 8th, 2008 | 11:27 am

that is a buttload of songs, brandon. i posted about this on my blog…so…you know…five more people will see it haha :)

    24. Brandon | September 8th, 2008 | 11:55 am

I know it’s a load of songs. It started with like 20 and then 10 more came along and 10 more and so on. I also contacted a couple of bands myself. I should split this into two files.

    25. nodes | September 8th, 2008 | 12:37 pm

i don’t mind criticim. i hate the IVM logo, but hooray for whomever made it. they made money and i didn’t. if you can’t stand it, let me know.

    26. Brandon | September 8th, 2008 | 1:32 pm

I really like the art, I think it looks cool. The Hearts Bleed Passion work that is.

    27. fusse | September 8th, 2008 | 2:41 pm

      [offtopic]
I like the new IVM logo. Only thing that I would change a bit is the big font. But just a bit… anyway, waiting for the rest of the site to match with teh logo though :)
      [/offtopic]

    28. tyler h | September 8th, 2008 | 2:46 pm

i like the part that nodes used for the album art, not a big fan of the big blue letters part

    29. Andy K | September 8th, 2008 | 4:27 pm

I just got done downloading it and I can’t wait to listen to it all. Good work on the cover Nodes.

    30. Brandon | September 8th, 2008 | 8:00 pm

Just so everyone knows, there are brand new studio tracks from Avery Pkwy, Amen. the Animal, Mendelson, Braveheart, Fairgreen, My Jeremiah, The Apprentice, as well as a new studio track from The Advantage, who were formerly known as Quick and the Dead. Most of the other songs are fairly new as well and unavailable till now.

    31. nodes | September 8th, 2008 | 8:21 pm

the Crimson Thorn CD that the track come from came out in 2002. OOOLD!!

    32. Brandon | September 8th, 2008 | 8:37 pm

Shhhhh…..You’re not supposed to tell the noobs that.

    33. Colt | September 8th, 2008 | 8:51 pm

      The Mome Raths FTW!!!

    34. bobbythebuff | September 8th, 2008 | 9:01 pm

old or not at least there is some crimson thorn on there. :) good work on the artwork nodes.

    35. John Wayne | September 9th, 2008 | 7:12 am

Nice try Len post #21 but I think I’m going to be eating the same Lean Pocket today. They sell them in lovely 2 packs and I’m too lazy to pack something better. lolz.

Tyler #28, what are these blue letters?

I will not be downloading this compilation, but I can still appreciate all the hard work put into it by Brandon, Nodes and whomever else deserves some props.

    36. tyler h | September 9th, 2008 | 8:21 am

why wouldn’t you download it, john wayne?

and the blue letters i was referring to the ivm logo not hbp4, in response to fusse #27. they’re just too big and awkward for me.

    37. LenIVM | September 9th, 2008 | 8:58 am

Because John has dial-up or dsl.

Yeah Brandon, the file is kinda big.

    38. LenIVM | September 9th, 2008 | 9:06 am

But I likes the digital sampler.

      John, are you a designer?

    39. John Wayne | September 9th, 2008 | 9:47 am

Yeah, it’s a huge download especially since I don’t care for wading through unsigned artists when I usually only like 1 in 10. I have way too much music anyway. I’m always trying to cut back, deleting mp3s and selling CD’s. I’m sure if an artist on this comp sounds like Squad Five-O some kind individual will point that out to me.

yes, Len. I am a designer. Got my degree in design… before it became the scenester field of study and exploded in popularity.

    40. tyler h | September 9th, 2008 | 10:02 am

i was into dinosaurs when they were still underground

    41. John Wayne | September 9th, 2008 | 10:12 am

though dinosaurs were my first love but… it was just a brief side commentary ’bout when I was a freshman there were like 20 in the whole program in a small space next to the English nerds and when I graduated there were 120+ in a brand new, first rate Art Building. It’s trendy everywhere… if only I would have known…

    42. Brandon | September 9th, 2008 | 10:40 am

I love these comps, they create lots of lively discussion. I honestly wish I had a background in web design/graphic design because there are so many cool things I could do. I guess I could always take some night classes or something. People like you John, Nodes, and others are so darn talented it makes me jealous.

It’s always hit or miss with some unsigned bands but it’s the potential that I see. You have to realize that most of these “signed” bands got there start somewhere. That’s the whole point of this, is to gather exposure for unsigned talent and hopefully get label’s attention. There is so much variety on these compilation that there is bound to be a few favorites with each person. You may not like the whole thing but you’ll certainly like certain songs depending on your taste.

    43. _pole | September 9th, 2008 | 10:43 am

I also don’t like the new IVM logo because it’s baaaad type design and nothing to make up for it. I think the idea for the HBP4 cover is okay, but I just don’t like the style of the illustration. I actually like the flash banner better than the cover.

And I think John doesn’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings. :)

Dinosaurs are cool, but owls are cooler!

    44. LenIVM | September 9th, 2008 | 12:08 pm

I have always thought that the sampler sizes were too big, but hey… you’ve got a variety of tastes in music.

John, I have to agree with you fully.

I want to be able to do design, but that is not my thing, plus I do not want to do design just to do it, I want to actually know what I am doing …. with everything … and have a natural knack for it.

    45. nodes | September 9th, 2008 | 12:38 pm

i can say that making posters for shows is what got me into design. i’m not a big fan of the super scenesterish looking designs, but sometimes you can’t convince people to pay you for clean design.

    46. Jon | September 9th, 2008 | 1:04 pm

      my take on the compilation:

      http://www.joncampbell.ca/blog/?p=30

    47. matt b | September 9th, 2008 | 1:33 pm

quick and the dead is called the advantage now??? i never saw that news post

    48. Brandon | September 9th, 2008 | 1:34 pm

because it’s supposed to be low key.

    49. Brandon | September 9th, 2008 | 1:39 pm

Interesting review Jon however, My Epic is not on this compilation. I won’t point out the songs I dont like but there were quite a few I did like.

    50. Jon | September 9th, 2008 | 1:39 pm

oh. there goes the cat. i just saw it running away.

    51. Jon | September 9th, 2008 | 1:41 pm

bradon. oops. i just did a “hearts bleed passion” search in my itunes once i added the album and didnt notice that that one was in the list cause it was called “hearts bleed version”. ill fix.

    52. Brandon | September 9th, 2008 | 1:41 pm

What’s cool about all this is that is generates discussion and gets more people interested in this site.

For the ones who keep ripping on the logo, sorry but I liked that one best out of the final 3 that were voted on. The logo was not modified from the original it was just enlarged. I didn’t ask the designer to change ANYTHING about the logo. All I asked him to do was to enlarge it so I could shrink it down if I needed to. When the new site is reworked, the logo will be chopped down and shrunk. It’s not going to look that big with the final design. Plus, the white around the edges has to go.

    53. bloodwater | September 9th, 2008 | 2:03 pm

I guess that’s why something like this works because everyone has their favourites and their dislikes. I kind of like The Momeraths :)

    54. Jonathan Barnett | September 9th, 2008 | 2:47 pm

This is awesome. I loved the past 3 volumes, a bit of a bummer not to have a physical disc, but this is great with a lot more music!

      Thanks!

    55. LenIVM | September 9th, 2008 | 3:20 pm

A lot of new bands, The Mome Raths is really fun. I love Cathy Crescendo, Amen. The Animal, Agnes the Mother, and Our Proclamation…. so far, that means I haven’t had the chance to listen to it all yet, so I will formulate what I like overall in a week or two.

    56. LenIVM | September 9th, 2008 | 3:23 pm

and this whole time I thought The Advantage was Pennylane’s new name…. until I remembered that QATD was signed for a little while.

    57. brad | September 9th, 2008 | 3:48 pm

Avery Pkwy is epic. reminds me of Acceptance.

    58. Brandon | September 9th, 2008 | 3:59 pm

Pennylane has disolved into David Tamoaka (Canefield Hero), Sender, and Olivia the band. Though it seems only one of those artists is active, David Tamaoka. http://www.myspace.com/canefieldhero

I do agree with you Brad about Avery Pkwy. They are epic. Joel is a great drummer and singer. I wonder what their live shows are like?

    59. Brandon | September 9th, 2008 | 4:00 pm

The Canefield Hero link doesn’t work anymore. Here is David’s new one:

      http://www.myspace.com/davidtamaoka

    60. nodes | September 9th, 2008 | 11:42 pm

      best part of jon’s review.

      - - crimson thorn - way too hardcore

really funny, and inaccurate besides that.

    61. korytil | September 10th, 2008 | 2:26 am

some really good bands on here. im stoked and honored we got to be part of it.

    62. John | September 10th, 2008 | 2:44 pm

Is anyone else’s download freezing up around 35%? I’ve tried three times and no luck..but maybe it’s just the computer or something. All the other big samplers worked fine before though.

    63. Brandon | September 10th, 2008 | 3:04 pm

Yeah I just think the file is too big. I am going to attempt to split it into two files tonight and reupload it. I’ll still keep the master file up there though.

    64. Admiral Tobias | September 10th, 2008 | 3:15 pm

Just so everyone knows…The Advantage is the name of an electronic band…and it’s not a very good name anyway…bad bad move on QATD’s part.

I know I’m nitpicky, but I just don’t see how they could make such a dumb choice. Sorry.

    65. Brandon | September 10th, 2008 | 3:17 pm

Then if you have a problem with it, tell the band so they know.

    66. dOdOnG | September 10th, 2008 | 4:38 pm

Some of my friends told me their attempts to download ends up stopping somewhere at 10%, eventually becoming corrupted/incomplete.

But fortunately, mine succeeded in 5 hours. :D

    67. _pole | September 11th, 2008 | 4:16 am

      15 minutes :)

    68. dOdOnG | September 11th, 2008 | 4:31 am

Whoa… That’s fast. Well, at least for me.

    69. Jon | September 11th, 2008 | 8:34 am

a download manager helps. i tried downloading in chrome and it died 3 times, but free download manager did it quick and easy.

    70. tyler h | September 11th, 2008 | 1:22 pm

i’m about a quarter of the way through this…its been a busy week.

is it just be or does avery pkwy sound a lot like the advantage (who sounds better then qatd did)?

    71. Brandon | September 11th, 2008 | 1:25 pm

I think the Avery Pkwy track has better production. Does it sound like QATD? Not really, different style of bands if you ask me. Avery Pkwy is more pop friendly.

Attention the rest of you. I totally forgot to split the files in half last night and reupload it to the site. I will do that tonight and reload it so all of you can split your download time in half (Download half now, and half later). This should help speed things up.

    72. LenIVM | September 11th, 2008 | 1:30 pm

Mine was a little slower then the others (previous two samplers), but yeah, the download manager works wonders. It took me about an hour and a half.

    73. tyler h | September 11th, 2008 | 1:57 pm

      I mostly meant the vocals

    74. Jon | September 11th, 2008 | 2:50 pm

why was the buzzgrinder link comment deleted?

    75. matt b | September 11th, 2008 | 2:55 pm

in regards to the mome raths song….

    76. Brandon | September 11th, 2008 | 3:41 pm

What buzzgrinder link? You mean the trackback thing?

    77. Kyle | September 11th, 2008 | 10:11 pm

Where is when only darkness remains?!?!?!?!

    78. dOdOnG | September 11th, 2008 | 11:06 pm

Brandon, thanks for the split. Len and Jon, what download managers do you recommend?

    79. Brandon | September 12th, 2008 | 12:53 am

When Only Darkness Remains is in FILE ONE.

    80. tyler h | September 12th, 2008 | 11:55 am

ack. can’t let this drop off the latest posts!
there are some great songs on this. there are some okay songs on this. there is one really, really, really bad song on this. im hoping tomorrow i have time to put some kind of semi-formal review on my blog tomorrow or something, but we’ll see how tomorrow shapes up.

    81. LenIVM | September 12th, 2008 | 12:05 pm

an australian based christian metal fan site linked it up in their bulletin…. now for the USA and New Zealand (*cough* sam *cough*)

    82. Brandon | September 12th, 2008 | 12:13 pm

I myself and several other people i know have each submitted this compilation as news to absolutepunk and they have ignored our requests. I also submitted it to Decoymusic and they haven’t seemed to respond either. Oh well. Thanks to the wonderful people at Buzzgrinder, they graciously linked us up. I heard Thedailychorus.com linked us up too.

    83. Pimp dude | September 14th, 2008 | 3:24 pm

      THIS ARTWORK IS SO AWESOME!!

    84. Admiral Tobias | September 14th, 2008 | 5:34 pm

Morse posted a blog about this on MySpace. Mikal’s so cool.

I really reallllllly like Pedestrian X. Those guys need exposure NOW.

    85. LenIVM | September 14th, 2008 | 10:06 pm

This is Luke mentioned it I believe.

and Agnes the Mother did, plus they have a banner up for it too.

    86. Me | September 15th, 2008 | 5:31 am

      How to download this compilation??????????????????????????????????????

    87. Mw | September 15th, 2008 | 5:36 am

      How to download it?

    88. tyler h | September 15th, 2008 | 10:44 am

    92. dOdOnG | September 17th, 2008 | 2:01 am

LenIVM and Jon, what free download managers do you recommend?

    93. LenIVM | September 17th, 2008 | 7:44 am

The basic windows xp one is what I have…. my connection is decent, but not as good as most of people’s high speed.

    94. tyler h | September 18th, 2008 | 9:01 am

so how are the downloads going on this bad boy?

    95. Brandon | September 18th, 2008 | 11:30 am

This page has been viewed 2861 times since September 6th. The file has been accessed 554 times. File one 62 times and File two 38 times. So around 600 total times. That is no where near as many as Summer Slam Vol. 2 did in the first couple weeks. I believe Summer Slam Vol. 2 was up to almost 2000 downloads by the third week. This time we didn’t have the promotion of Absolutepunk.net and they brought in hundreds of people last time. Only two zines reported the compilation, Buzzgrinder and The Daily Chorus. We need more promotion for this thing.

    96. brad and water | September 18th, 2008 | 6:08 pm

we are promotin’ it up like mad.
any chance that absolutepunk might still promote it a bit?

      Thanks!!!

    100. bloodwater | September 26th, 2008 | 1:25 pm

fairgreen reminds me so much of a cross between fall out boy and capital lights, they need to work with a better producer though or something like that

    101. Brandon | September 26th, 2008 | 1:27 pm

Yeah I think the song they provided was a studio demo. I know they are working with a producer right now on new tunes.

    102. JFskeezix | October 1st, 2008 | 2:08 pm

      This is really awesome!!! n_n

Thanks to every band who made this possible :)

    103. Kenderrr | October 2nd, 2008 | 8:32 am

Yeah thanks for this, pls upload tracklist.

    104. LenIVM | October 2nd, 2008 | 11:44 am

Glad you guys like this. It is pretty sweet if you ask me.

    105. dOdOnG | October 2nd, 2008 | 9:51 pm

Apparently, ToStartAFire.com–seemingly a webzine–also featured this compilation on their news. See it here: http://www.tostartafire.com/news/hearts-bleed-passion-vol-4-free-digital-compilation

    106. nodes | October 14th, 2008 | 11:36 pm

      i’m definitely not bumping this.

    107. LenIVM | October 15th, 2008 | 1:32 am

      more like “refreshing it”

    108. Brandon | October 15th, 2008 | 12:25 pm

Len and Nodes for the win!

    109. Caleb | October 17th, 2008 | 9:23 pm

Lewis Vs. Clark being on there makes me happy. Definitely give that track a listen, guys. That band is made up of members that are all either 15 or 16 and they are the most passionate and dedicated musicians I know personally. They put on a ridiculous show as well.

And listen to all the other great bands on there as well. Haha. Can’t say that there’s even a few bands I’m not fond of on there.

    110. LenIVM | October 19th, 2008 | 2:14 am

I’m totally not doing what Nodes wasn’t doing.

    111. dOdOnG | October 19th, 2008 | 8:58 am

Haha, now I totally feel stupid for posting that link there, hahaha. Sorry guys, I simply wanted to imply that though some sites have turned down our requests to promote this compilation, this compilation is still somehow making it to people’s sites/blogs, thus promoting it even more. I even know of a friend who plugged HBP4 in one of his blog entries. But, I don’t have to post the link on second thought, hahaha, ‘cos it’s not a review in any way, it’s merely “refreshing it”. :D

    112. LenIVM | October 19th, 2008 | 12:04 pm

YES! What do we win Brandon?
