Copeland will release their new album You Are My Sunshine on October 14th through Tooth & Nail Records. You can check out the album artwork below.
Copeland has created quite the buzz in promoting its new album through different sites that it created (http://abso1utepunk.net/, http://worldwithouthope.org/, http://www.runrightbacktothestart.com/, http://www.citizensfourourbetterment.com/) namely because it seemed to piggy back on the buzz that Fall Out Boy has been trying to create for it’s new album that also comes out this fall. It now seems like noone can quite figure out which buzz is for which album and has become a tangled web of viral marketing. You can read more about it here in this MTV article.

Im really looking forward to this album. Hopefully FOB fans will hear them without writing them off because of this.

The comments on that link are hilarious.
“honestly who the h*** is Copeland? I’ve never heard of them before this whole ordeal. It’s pretty sad that they would copy FOB’s doing. Anyways can’t wait for the new album from FOB love you guys!!
:D :D”
Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy some old Fall Out Boy and all but…eh. People. Oh well.
Why do Copeland keep on moving labels, though? I haven’t kept up with them in a while.

I really hope they do a cover of “You Are My Sunshine”

Looking more into the situation it’s not that complicated at all. People are making more buzz about it than needed. Anyway… playing around at http://www.runrightbacktothestart.com/ is quite interesting and confusing. Is anyone able to figure something out of that site? Maybe previews hidden somewhere in the maze?

After playing around and trying different things all I end up getting is link to http://youaremysunshinealbum.com/ in the end.

I love Copeland and have followed them since their split with Pacifico all those years ago (I actually carried it in the store at one time). Though I haven’t been the biggest fan of their last album, I did enjoy “Beneath the Medicine Tree”.

OK, so minus Brandon, where are all the Copeland fans on this site? Seriously, they’re one of the best in their genre. I own everything they’ve done (including that split and their covers EP). I’m still biased towards In Motion, but I hope this is a return to old Copeland.
and oh, Copeland on T&N = perfect fit. They’re finally on the right label that may be able to do something for a band their size.

Manuel <– Copeland fan. I’m glad to see Alternative making it’s way back into the spotlight. I’m glad this wasn’t just a rumor.

TOOTH & NAIL HAS COPELAND!??!! WHAT?!?! this is madness the Tooth is swallowing every band! I think it’s awesome, but good gracious!
Jess = Copeland fan (since In Motion anyways)

dude i’m so confused with this Copeland and Fall Out Boy thing… Some one explain it in the forums haha
Posted on August 21st, 2008 at 9:35 pm
Jess, did you read the MTV article. I think that explains it pretty well?

I’m a huge Copeland fan! I think this is awesome and I’m looking forward to “You Are My Sunshine” very much! Aaron Marsh has the most amazing voice I have ever heard…

Super stoked for this. I just ordered “Know Nothing Stays the Same” from the Militia website after realizing I needed to hear some new Copeland. I agree to about wanting a return to In Motion; E.S.R. was classy, but I’m more of a sucker for straight up pop. I’m not sure about them being labelled with Tooth and Nail, anyone else worried slightly about this?
Posted on August 22nd, 2008 at 5:22 am
Not at all. FF5 got connected with the Nail (and everybody was worried about it) and now look at ‘em. They’ve blown up.

That’s more like it. Glad to hear from you Bobby, Manuel, Jess, Luke and JV.
Bobby, what’s your favorite Copeland release?
I don’t usually like b-sides, but I’d also like to point out that their b-sides collection Dressed Up and In Line is fantastic. Everyone who’s slightly interested in the band should check it.

John- wow this is a tuff one. I love them all pretty equally and its hard to say that i have a favorite. If i had to choose, i would say B.T.M.T for first. Then E.S.R. followed by In Motion.

I only have In Motion…the one with the little acoustic EP with it. But the acoustic tracks from Beneath Medicine Tree are fantastic. It’s high on my list of albums to get next.
Posted on August 22nd, 2008 at 5:33 pm
Manuel, I would argue that Family Force 5 has been blowing up since before getting connected with the Nail.

RunRightBacktotheStart.com is insanely confusing and screams “We’re trying to be artsy! Put meaning into every meaningless thing we say!” the whole way through, but it’s bizarrely entertaining. I liked “Good Morning Fire Eater”
Posted on August 22nd, 2008 at 6:07 pm
That’s true, as well. It’s just that they’ve blown up soo much more…you know what I mean.
