    Emery Interview

You can read an interview that Relevant Magazine has done with Emery right here.

At some point, we as people think we’re more than what we are, and that can get us into a lot of trouble,” Morell says. “We need to realize that we are only human and that we need help.

I cannot wait for their new album.

    2. Manuel | July 3rd, 2008 | 7:45 pm

This interview wasn’t really that helpful, regarding he nitty gritty info. But it’s a magazine…commercialized, and not the “Indie Vision” type I’m accustomed to. :D

    3. Manuel | July 3rd, 2008 | 7:46 pm

      dumb comp… :D

    4. Colt | July 3rd, 2008 | 8:46 pm

      ha ha! You repeated yourself!

lol, you’ll never get any nitty gritty stuff with relevant magazine. it’s one of the worst mags out there. you’ll also never get objective truth or ideas from them. they make me mad the majority of the time because they tend to cater and tickle people’s ears moreso than giving them truth. it’s pretty disgusting, actually.

Ya’ll should check out Burnside Writers Collective (dot com): “An online magazine presenting an alternative to franchise faith.” Not to name drop, but its headed up by Donald Miller (author of Blue Like Jazz).

    7. ryan | July 7th, 2008 | 9:47 am

i am pretty sure there are worse magazines out there than Relevant. I sure cant think of any faith related magazines that cater to the 20 something crowd. no magazine is ever gonna be 100 percent objective.

    8. tyler h | July 7th, 2008 | 11:06 am

i’m pretty sure that i don’t want anything to do with donald miller and i am highly doubtful that his site would be any different than relevant, since thats what he seeks to be, “relevant”

    9. bloodwater | July 7th, 2008 | 12:03 pm

what exactly do you consider the nitty gritty or objective truth?
Burnside has some interesting stuff on it…there are many other contributors to that site also other then Donald. I don’t believe it’s his site, I think he just contributes to it (though i very well could be wrong on that). Do you mind me asking Tyler why you seen to dislike Mr. Miller so much?

    10. tyler h | July 7th, 2008 | 12:16 pm

the bible is the nitty gritty of objective truth.

i dislike miller’s views because they are based on post modern thinking, which is based on the idea that truth is relative, rather than Jesus Christ being the truth. this thinkin has corrupted the church in america and has caused dilution of our gospel, that Jesus Christ is the only name by which men must be saved. this post modern thinking is the reason why many so called Christians in america think that there is more than one way to salvation. thats my problem.

    11. bloodwater | July 7th, 2008 | 1:04 pm

I dont know if I’ve ever read anything he’s written or heard him teach that there was any other way to saved except through God’s son. I also dont remember reading anywhere in Relevant that it says anything like that.
yes the bible is the nitty gritty something which I’m pretty sure Relevant never claims to be. basically all that is is an article describing the band for those who aren’t familiar with it with interview clips inserted into it. I guess I dont understand why this specific article in specifically Relevant is recieving this criticism when there have been many articles like this posted in the past and noone has said anything. What was it about this one that struck you differently?

    12. bloodwater | July 7th, 2008 | 1:05 pm

if people have said something about it in the past and I missed it then please point me towards those instances

    13. Brandon | July 7th, 2008 | 2:44 pm

Wow, some of you guys are pretty harsh on Relevant Magazine. Ouch!

    14. ryan | July 7th, 2008 | 7:18 pm

people need to realize we can’t evangelize the same ways anymore. we are living in a post modern world. people like donald miller and rob bell are showing ways we can reach this world. too many conservative christians have this wrong idea that post modern is bad.

    15. tyler h | July 7th, 2008 | 10:00 pm

i’m shocked that ryan and i disagree.
      except that we usually do.

    16. NickL | July 8th, 2008 | 11:38 am

Beyond wanting to be relevant, Tyler, I think Donald Miller just tries to love people authentically.

    17. Brandon | July 8th, 2008 | 11:50 am

Back on topic….When does this Emery ep come out? I am looking forward to it.

    18. bloodwater | July 8th, 2008 | 11:56 am

the band says it’ll be out in October
