Lol. CCMmagazine.com has reviewed the Seabird album and calls it “Pleasant but Generic Brit Rock”. Wow. Do you agree or disagree? Here is the review.

These people wouldnt know brit rock if it served them tea and crumpets

    Cheerio

  • John says:

yes of course! generic but good (wayy too much like coldplay though).

and if CCM calls these guys generic, they better be flounting the generic label tons more on their other, yuckier bands.

  • Brandon says:

    Like Superchick? ha ha.

  • Manuel says:

Well they ARE generic as far as BRIT rock goes…but I happen to dig all brit rock, since we don’t get much of it over here. So as far as my American standards go…this is good generic. As far as people living in england go..this is probably very bad.

  • The Headless Horseman says:

Seabird don’t do anything especially innovative, no, but practically no one does anymore. They might do what they do well. I don’t know; I only got it (read: ripped the copy my dad bought) yesterday.

CCM must have forgotten, so I’ll remind them: You guys no longer have any money and can’t print a magazine anymore. The reason for this is that you spent all your space covering derivative, faceless, crappy modern-CCRock artists, few of whom survived for more than one album before breaking up. Maybe before ripping on new acts, you should apologize to readers for what a boring magazine you put out for all those years.

  • Trenton says:

Amen, Headless! I may not like Seabird, but they are better than all of the stuff that is aimed toward the K-Love crowd.

  • One Crushing Blow says:

Any site that has the decency to rate Superchick a 4 and Thrice a 3 is pathetic. Every single one of Thrice’s cds, individually, could beat out Superchick’s discography. And I’m not just saying that out of biased opinion. It’s out of musical talent and…well…truth.

I haven’t listened to Seabird yet, but it is funny that they’re calling them generic, when almost every band I saw on there was, indeed, generic.

  • Dan Van says:

Isn’t the definition of CCM “generic”?

  • tyler h says:

    i don’t read ccm.
i don’t want to hurt my eyes.

  • bloodwater says:

CCM did seem to be making some good moves in the last year before they went out of print like having Andrew Schwab do the “New Noise” column. Their audience wasn’t really the same as IVM though it was the general Christian Music population who listen to the casting crowns of the world all the time.

  • joe m says:

As much as I also disdain CCM in general, I don’t think they’re that far off here.

I listened to the Seabird release and was filled with the overwhelming sense (with each new track) that I had heard it before, either earlier on that album, or Coldplay, or the Myriad or something like that. it was ok, but just ok for me. in a word, generic. :)

  • Brandon says:

I just can’t believe they gave that terrible new album from Superchick a 4! Whatever.

  • tyler h says:

    some people like country
some people like to watch dancing with the stars
some people think tila tequila is a good person
some people think superchick isn’t terrible
you can’t explain or understand everything

  • Brandon says:

I can’t pretend that I do understand everything.

  • sam30 says:

    tyler h for the win!

  • Manuel says:

no..country is awesome. America’s Best Dance Crew is waayy better than dwts, dwts is for nannies. Who are we to judge Tila? And Superchick’s last CD was actually very good. They’ve plummeted, of course. It’s no worse than Miley Cyrus or the CliqueGirlz and whatnot, though.

  • Billy says:

    CCM is fairly lame yes…

but seabird in my opinion way overrated.
