    Haste the Day Recording Update

Haste the Day have posted a new blog about their recording process and you can read it below.

“We can’t wait for all of you to hear the new songs. They
are heavier, catchier, darker, more honest, and more personal than
anything we’ve released in the past!”

What’s up guys? We had the intention to post multiple videos and
studio updates, but we have been way to busy making the best HTD
record to date. We’ve basically been working for 8-10 hours a day for
a couple of months now (there is a pyramid of 150 Red Bull cans to
prove it). We can’t wait for all of you to hear the new songs. They
are heavier, catchier, darker, more honest, and more personal than
anything we’ve released in the past! Get ready to lose your minds
children! It has been a blessing to write these song with hopes to
inspire change and awareness in our world. We are incredibly proud of
this cd and hope you guys and gals enjoy it. We will see you at the
summer festivals and on the road this fall!
    God Bless
    Michael

150 red bulls? ow, my head hurts for them.

    2. Blair | May 30th, 2008 | 11:42 am

      children?

    3. grant | May 30th, 2008 | 12:08 pm

i’m pumped to hear some new stuff.

haste the day is so good.

      red bull sucks so bad.

    4. Levi G | May 30th, 2008 | 12:12 pm

150 red bulls = the reason bands don’t make money

      Just kidding. But seriously…

    5. tyler h | May 30th, 2008 | 12:31 pm

      i like energy.

i guess heavier, catchier, darker, honest, and personal are good things, right? but…which band would say that this album is weaker, boring, soft, dishonest and impersonal hoping to sell records?

    6. Trenton | May 30th, 2008 | 12:43 pm

Red bulls make money, scene bands make money, musical artistry gets slaughtered.

Five simple words: “This is just a gimmick!”

    7. Phil Recognition | May 30th, 2008 | 3:05 pm

“We can’t wait for all of you to hear the new songs. They
are heavier, catchier, darker, more honest, and more personal than
anything we’ve released in the past!”

      rofl. just like underoath huh

    8. Phil Recognition | May 30th, 2008 | 3:06 pm

i’ll be looking forward to trenches instead

    9. Manuel | May 30th, 2008 | 4:45 pm

“Heavier, catchier, darker, honest, and personal”

      They all say that…cliche.

    10. KnownameCris | May 30th, 2008 | 5:32 pm

Trenches?…They are good, but nah. I look forward to Haste The Day’s new stuff more. Even though Htd’s (Michael’s) words are cliche, who really cares? It’s the music that counts chlidren. lol.

    11. The Headless Horseman | May 30th, 2008 | 7:51 pm

      Red Bull does suck.

And if these songs are more honest and personal than “Breaking My Own Heart,” I’ll totally pay the band every cent I ever earn, because this is impossible.

    12. Brandon | May 31st, 2008 | 9:55 am

Speaking of Energy Drinks, has anyone ever tried RED LINE? That stuff is nasty but it packs a punch. It even says on the packaging that you should only have one can per day. Crazy.

Even though Jimmy left, I thought the last Haste the Day was great. I’ll be looking forward to the new one.

    13. Jaded | May 31st, 2008 | 4:25 pm

Maybe they all say that because…that’s what naturally happens? “OMG, A BAND IS CLICHE. CAN’T LIKE THEM.” If you get into it, every single darned band is cliche because nothing is original except for the very first song that was ever created, whatever that may be. The new Haste the Day will be good, and so will Trenches.

And funny how we make fun of bands, saying they’re scene, when it’s convenient for us, but everyone listens to SOME scene bands. It’s not so bad. Stop being so hypocritical and judgmental.

    14. Jaded | May 31st, 2008 | 4:26 pm

And to everyone who dogs on Underoath: there’s a reason they’re so big. Maybe it’s because…they’re good. Ever thought of that?

    15. Trenton | May 31st, 2008 | 5:39 pm

Explosions in the Sky is AMAZING, but they aren’t big. How do you explain that?

By the way: Jaded, I don’t listen to scene bands. Probably the most scene band I like is Monarch (WA). Trust me, Monarch is not a scene band. Somewhat poppy, but nowhere near as scene as something on Fueled by Ramen, Rise Records, or Victory.

    16. Blair | June 2nd, 2008 | 11:57 am

      Scene?

    17. Manuel | June 2nd, 2008 | 12:03 pm

      Blair said, “Children?”
      Blair also said, “Scene?”

      :?

      Manuel says, “Your point(s)?”

    18. Trenton | June 2nd, 2008 | 1:53 pm

My point: Not every band that is big is good and vice versa.

Scene: I know that some of you already know this definition, but I am referring to th glut of emo, pop punk, and “Hardcore” bands that are dominating the trend in indie and mainstream music. You know, the kind that every tight jean-donning, asymmetrical haircut-sporting, Hot Topic shopping person listens to. I had a scene kid as a roommate my past freshman year and I used to be a scene kid until I listened to Sufjan Stevens. As the band known as Validly would say, “I’m too scene to be hip, but I’m too hip to be scene!”. I am just talking about fashion and attitude; I don’t listen to scene bands, but I do listen to some hipster bands.

    19. Trenton | June 2nd, 2008 | 1:56 pm

“…The glut of emo, pop punk, and ‘Hardcore’ bands that are dominating the trend in indie and mainstream music.”

      I am such a fhqwhgad.

    20. Brandon | June 2nd, 2008 | 2:05 pm

I never understood the facination of guys wearing Girls jeans. I think it’s sick. Men’s clothing is made specifically for Men.

    21. Trenton | June 2nd, 2008 | 7:47 pm

I didn’t wear girl’s jeans when I was a scene kid. I would wear men’s jeans (that fit) and tuck whatever large band shirt that I had in my pants.

That was back in the day when I listened to Haste the Day, Underoath, Number One Gun, etc…

    22. Manuel | June 2nd, 2008 | 7:51 pm

      ew, did u say NOG?

      *dies laughing*

    23. Admiral Tobias | June 2nd, 2008 | 8:06 pm

Come on, fhqwhgads, I said come on fhqwhgads. Everybody to the limit! The Cheat is to the limit! Everybody come on fhqwhgads!

      …Good stuff.

    24. Jaded | June 2nd, 2008 | 8:16 pm

Good is in the eye of the beholder.

    25. Admiral Tobias | June 2nd, 2008 | 8:43 pm

Never mind. You’re definitely not Dave.

    26. Trenton | June 3rd, 2008 | 7:31 am

I don’t listen to Number One Gun anymore, Manuel. However, I do like Surrogate.

    27. Blair | June 3rd, 2008 | 8:45 am

Point being I am not a child and love Haste The Day and listen to lots of different music(well my wife would say it is all the same)and am too old to care about any scene.Thats all.

    28. Trenton | June 3rd, 2008 | 9:51 am

Blair, are you personally calling me a child and questioning my taste in music?

    29. Brandon | June 3rd, 2008 | 9:56 am

I’m 30 and I listen to Haste the Day. I am far far from being scene or whatever you call it.

    30. Trenton | June 3rd, 2008 | 10:09 am

      Et tu, Brandon?

    31. Blair | June 3rd, 2008 | 11:43 am

Trenton, read the post from them…”get ready to lose your minds children!” And I am 37 so

    32. Trenton | June 3rd, 2008 | 12:00 pm

Blair, you answered half of my question.

I am 19 years old in case you were wondering.

    33. Blair | June 3rd, 2008 | 2:08 pm

The only time I question someones taste of music is if they are country fans.

    34. Trenton | June 3rd, 2008 | 8:05 pm

Does Dustin Kensrue’s solo stuff count as country? Because Alt-country is better than the other kinds of country music, but Dustin Kensrue is all I have in that potential genre.

    35. Blair | June 4th, 2008 | 4:03 pm

well then you are ok,not that it maters at all what I think.

    36. brett | June 4th, 2008 | 5:43 pm

crazy how this stuff gets off track…country is not my cup of tea, but i’ve got a lot of really really good friends who love the stuff. i like some of it. to save my indie scene cred (not that it matters), i think johnny cash and hank williams can’t be touched, yada yada, blah blah. there are some good country songs out there though and i think you’re cool enough to listen to them. no need to be insecure, kids ;)

speaking of being off track of the topic matter, i’m listening to “waking giants” by liyw right now and man…you know how you can go awhile without listening to something and then you get back in touch with it like it’s an old friend? well…man, oh man…this cd is so good. i wish they were gonna stick it out.

    37. Admiral Tobias | June 4th, 2008 | 6:59 pm

      Johnny Cash…Dustin Kensrue…Teh Rubyzorz

    38. Trenton | June 4th, 2008 | 7:13 pm

      Admiral, what was that?

    39. The Headless Horseman | June 4th, 2008 | 8:32 pm

…I really like Number One Gun. Dunno where the hate’s coming from.

But hey, I like country too. (Admittedly, mostly alt-country like Great Lake Swimmers and Ryan Adams, but the occasional Dixie Chicks song or whatever too.) So what do I know?

    40. Matt B | June 4th, 2008 | 8:40 pm

headless! you’re pens just failed me! :(

    41. Matt B | June 4th, 2008 | 8:40 pm

      *your

    42. The Headless Horseman | June 4th, 2008 | 8:57 pm

I know. I’m not a happy camper right now.

    43. Brandon | June 5th, 2008 | 8:30 am

It’s amazing how off topic this has gone. Lol. Weren’t we talking about the new Haste the Day stuff? I wonder when they’ll post a new song?

    44. One Crushing Blow | June 5th, 2008 | 10:53 am

      Who knows. I hope soon.
