Your diagram proves my point, though, which is that the line of site is just below the flaming dish, thus flattening it's perspective depth and widening the glasses depth. Your eyes have to be at the right point, just like in a Rembrandt painting. If you're looking at it from below, of course it's going to throw everything off.
