I am looking at relaunching the Indie Vision Music website. I have thought about it quite a bit and it’s time for a change. I want to keep the structure much the same but I believe the look can and should be altered. Who wants to help us stay fresh and current? We can pay a very small amount to the chosen designer but it wont be much. This will mostly be volunteer work, something to make your resume look more professional. So if you’re up for the game, just send an email to both josh@indievisionmusic.com and brandon@indievisionmusic.com and submit 3-5 samples of your work. I am mainly looking for web designers, someone who has experience building websites. The person who is chosen must have experience utilizing wordpress and all it’s components. The chosen designer will have their graphic logo clearly displayed at the bottom of our site along with information on their company, plus I will place a web banner for their company in rotation on our site.
Let’s get this started, contact Josh and myself today!
I’d like to welcome a new staff member to the team. His name is David (One Crushing Blow in the forums) and he’ll show up here as “DavidIVM”. He’ll be doing some brief news posts, album reviews, and interviews. So say hi to him and hopefully this new staff member will actually add to our team.
Yes, Introduction: Walk North When Winter Hits was just released, but The Apathy Eulogy have a second new EP coming out soon, apparently titled Journey: The Road Is Made of More Than Asphault. This will be the second of three EPs to be released this year, although I’m not sure whether they are to be taken as a series or completely separate. Also, it seems that this second one will only be released digitally through iTunes, etc. For a glimpse of the album art, click here.
Search the City have another new track up on myspace. Go listen. Their debut full length “A Fire So Big the Heavens Can See It” hits stores nationwide tomorrow!!
I just got word back from Gotee’s PR person that the House of Heroes album will indeed be a Digital release ONLY and will not be pressed to cds. It has also been pushed back a month and will not be on Itunes until at least May.

Gotee Records are now fully independent once again after purchasing the minority stake back from EMI Christian Music Group. One interesting thing to note about the below posted press release is that Gotee has sold 8 million albums in it’s history and grossed $70million dollars! That’s super! Read the full press release below here:
Click here to preview a bunch of the songs from Hawk Nelson’s new album that comes out tomorrow, Hawk Nelson Is My Friend. With the special edition of the album you get a few bonus acoustic versions of songs like One Little Miracle which features guest vocals by Amy Grant. Click below to see the tracklisting for the special edition. Apparently they’ve had a few collaborators in making this album including Thousand Foot Krutch and Our Lady Peace. (more…)
Well, the last movie weekend of March is now over with. Even though there were now “big” openers this weekend that still didn’t stop the new film “21″ from taking the top spot with a take of $23.7million. I didn’t expect that at all. Horton Hears a Who was in second with a take of $17.4million ($117.2million Total) proving to be a box office success and a film I still haven’t seen. DVD! The movie I hope none of you saw, Superhero Movie, opened in third with a take of $9.5million, far below the take of Meet the Spartans. Meet the Browns was in fourth with a take of $7.76million ($32.83million), and finally Drillbit Taylor rounded out the top 5 with a take of $5.8million ($20.5million). For the rest of the top 10, click here. I wonder if 10,000 BC is turning out to be a box office stud or a dud? I know they casted unknowns but there were quite a few special effects shots shown which I know isn’t cheap to film. Anyway, I’ll see it when it releases on DVD. I did happen see Vantage Point over the weekend and it was worth every cent I paid. Definitely a theater worthy viewing. Well that is all for tonight. Talk to you all tomorrow! Oh and thanks to Josh and Jorel for fixing our forums. [killermovies.com for the info]
Artists: Brand New, Colour Revolt
Venue: ATS Auditorium (Dickinson College), Carlisle, PA
Date: March 29, 2008
Review by: Eric Pettersson
“When you go on tour for so long, sometimes you just get kind of sick of it. And it’s funny how few bands we really like touring with, how few bands we actually like as friends and want to keep in touch with. Colour Revolt were the first band that we actually enjoyed hanging out with, so they’re very dear to us and we love the chance to play shows with them. Actually, the first time we met them, we were opening for one of their shows, and we were all really nervous during sound check because here was Colour Revolt, this band we loved, just sitting there… the only ones out in the crowd while we were playing, and I just remember thinking, ‘Oh, I hope these kids like us.’” –Jesse Lacey
Now, several years later, Brand New have risen to headlining status, while Colour Revolt have stayed behind to become the opener. Which is all really cool for Brand New, to be sure, but it’s also sad for Colour Revolt because they deserve it just as much.
On the occasion of this night, these two bands came together to play a spot date at a college in central Pennsylvania between tours. (Afterwards, Colour Revolt drove all the way home to Oxford, Mississippi because they had classes on Monday. But don’t worry, they graduate in May, just in time to go on tour!) Colour Revolt began the night with a fair mix of old and new songs. The new album, Plunder, Beg, and Curse comes out April 1, so they were promoting that, although they said they’ve been selling it at shows for about a month because they hate the waiting game and the marketing trick of “release dates” doesn’t really work to bring in more sales anymore. I walked in as the old single, “Mattresses Underwater” was playing, although from outside I also heard part of the new single, “Naked and Red.” Vocalist Jesse Coppenbarger’s voice sounded great as always, and the indie-flavored rock and roll energy coming from stage was strong, although, sadly, the majority of the crowd was simply waiting patiently for Brand New. However, after that incredible set (and BN’s praise of their band), Colour Revolt must have won over a few more fans.
Luckily for me, this auditorium had the open floor, surrounded by stadium seating to be used for large-scale school events of some sort. Between songs, Brand New commented, “Thanks for letting us play here at your school in this nice big room. We had the chance to explore it before all of you got here… we really liked the seats and how they swivel. We also liked how the room can be easily sectioned off into three or four distinct groups. Then we noticed there’s this triangle in the middle of the floor that rises a little bit, and we thought about how we should incorporate it into the show somehow, but we couldn’t come up with anything.” As someone who is not a hardcore Brand New fan and wanted to relax and enjoy the music, I knew to go for the upper seating, because the floor was packed with lots of jumping, bouncing, yelling, fist-pumping, and other such shenanigans that are necessary for a rocker to feel like a rockstar. But despite all this, Brand New’s performance was one of the most humble looking ones I’ve ever seen. Some singers know they are rock stars. Others try too hard to become one. But Jesse Lacey seems like he just wants to play music, which is admirable. The lighting was dark throughout as they played a selection of songs mostly from The Devil and God Are Raging inside Me and Deja Entendu, beginning with “Untitled.” A lot of people tell me Brand New are horrible live, but this being my second time seeing them, I really have to disagree with that. Especially as the set came to a close with “Degausser” and “You Won’t Know,” the performance got a little sloppy, but that was from the sheer intensity pouring out of those guys. They had too much energy to still be able to perfectly control all of their movements, and the vocals were so powerful and full of feeling that the louder notes ended up coming out more like screams. It was quite an impressive thing to see, and the feel of those songs could never be recaptured on a record. So I say they were actually better live than on the album, but I guess that’s only true for people who prefer the rawness of rock to polished pop. After an absurdly long pause, Brand New (sadly) came back out for an encore. “Sometimes when you’re in a band, you write songs that you don’t like. But that doesn’t stop anyone else from liking them. And that’s something that I’ve come to grips with,” said Jesse right before playing “Mix Tape.” After two more songs from Your Favorite Weapon, the night officially ended, and I drove home listening to the greatness of Colour Revolt’s new album.
Click Below for the official album cover to Capital Lights “This is an Outrage” due out this July on Tooth and Nail Records. Something of it reminds me of the Garbage Pail Kids.
Sophia have posted the lyrics to their album in a blog right here on myspace. Check it out! You can buy the album from us in our store but we are currently out of stock. We’ll have more later this week.
RED is now back from their headlining tour. They’ll soon start their tour with 3 Doors Down, you can see those and more upcoming tour dates here. They have apparently made a new video, for what song they didn’t say. I’m guessing its for either Already Over or their newest single Lost. Lastly, they have added another street team to their fold, and have started one through fancorps. You can check it out here.
This has already been going on for a month but you can click below to see the rest of the dates on The Artery Foundation Tour with Before Their Eyes, A Skylit Drive, Oh Sleeper, Four Letter Lie, The Hotness and Memphis May Fire or Blinded Black on certain dates.
There have been a bunch of new songs added to the IVM Myspace site. It looks like most of them are off of the Fighting From The Ground Up compilation that’s for free download here. You can view the IVM Myspace and check out these tracks by going here.

We are all experiencing severe withdrawal symptoms due to our beloved forums being out of service. It appears that Tyler has actually eaten the forums, all in one bite! I really dont know how it’s possible but he did it and then One Crushing Blow finished off the crumbs. Yeah it’s messy. Thanks a lot guys. Now they’ll be crapping useless Office quotes for a year! WOW! So now we all have to experience Forum Withdrawal Symptoms F.W.S. As you can see, there really isn’t much “news” to report on today. It’s Friday and most of us are now finished with work and school for the week. I bought some cds today at Best Buy, isn’t that neat? I am not even going to share which ones they are for fear of ridicule. One of them is The Shins and the other is Counting Crows. Other than that…. Man, I am soooo glad to be out of work for the weekend. NICE! The family and I might be heading to the Mouse land this Sunday so that sounds certainly entertaining. I love me some Space Mountain. Well, I better get back to watching TV and browsing the net. Oh, and Myspace is boring. Yep. Nate, fix our forums. Later.
As was previously reported here on IVM, Blessthefall lost their lead singer back in December. Now they are looking for a new lead singer. If you’re interested check out their blog here to see the details. (absolutepunk.net)
Two new bands of the week. Burning Tree Project from Orange County, CA. and Rootdown from Eugene, OR. They are very different from each other and quite diverse. Check them both out then leave a comment.
Orion Walsh will be recording a full length soon called Tornado Lullabies. Hopefully it’s an actual CD release so that we can carry it in our store. He will also be moving back home to Nebraska from California soon, so any California fans should attempt to see him on his last mini tour there for some time.
