    Thank You T&N

I have to give props to Tooth and Nail Records. I was browsing around Itunes today and noticed that they have put up almost their entire catalog. Alot of hard to find albums from groups like Bloodshed, Focused, The Blamed, Blenderhead, etc. are all up there, heck, even that one Crucified release is there. If you want to hear early emocore (Screamo) before alot of other bands started doing it, listen to that first Bloodshed ep and buy it. It was originally released in 95′ and those guys were extremely ahead of the times. Like one of the reviewers stated, those guys got made fun of for mixing in melody with hardcore but today it’s the standard. So anyway, kudos to Tooth and Nail for exposing a whole new generation to music from the past and for bringing back memories to us older folks. I am slowly adding those albums to my itunes and prepping for when I get my Ipod. How many of you have a collection of T&N discs? I have almost every release minus a few Joy Electric discs. I dont have all the BEC stuff though, but I do have almost all the Solid State and T&N releases. Leave a comment with your favorite old school release or how many albums you actually own. Remember when the label printed the album numbers on the spine? I hated it when they switched over to the random numbers they have now.

The Other EP That Released Today….

You may now buy Jon Foreman’s “Fall” EP on iTunes or at his site.
Either way, there is no hard copy. :(

    France Attacks Illegal Downloaders

In a suprising move, the country of France has decided to crack down on illegal downloaders. According to the report, service providers will issue warnings to customers who are downloading files illegally. If users ignore those messages, their accounts could be suspended or closed all together. Very interesting and I think a very positive move. I wonder what countries will follow up next? Read the full report to hear quotes from French President Nicolas Sarkozy. [punknews.org]

    Fox Postpones ‘24′

While I’m posting TV news, the new season of ‘24‘ has been indefinitely postponed due to the current writer’s strike. This makes sense as the show really needs to have all the 24 episodes happen sequentially. This was announced a few weeks back, so looks like ‘24‘ fans will have to wait a little longer.

    More Terminator News

Figured I’d mention this since Brandon posted about T4. This January (the 13th & 14th to be specific) FOX will be premiering Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. Obviously the story line follows Sarah as she attempts to protect her son John. Read and view more at FOX and at SarahConnerChronicles.org (also has promo posters and more video clips).

Christian Bale has been cast for Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins (Terminator 4). The film begins shooting in early 2008 with a summer 2009 release planned. [darkhorizons.com] This is awesome. I was worried that this film would be gutter trash but I have high hopes now.

    The Myriad Album Review

Hey everyone, I recently posted my review on The Myriad’s latest EP Prelude to Arrows. You can click here to read it.

    Thanks!

    A different sort of news.

Though no official announcement has been made, Casey Calvert of Hawthorne Heights is reported to have passed away earlier today. He was in his twenties. Pray for his family and friends.

While Hawthorne Heights are not necessarily a “Christian band,” they are regarded as one of the most genuine groups of young men in music today by the scene. Whatever your opinion on the quality of their music or whether you personally feel permitted to listen to them or not by your convictions, as Christians, we are called to “mourn with those who mourn.” Take a moment and do so.

The Myriad - Prelude to Arrows

    Band: The Myriad
    Title: Prelude to Arrows
    Label: Kock Records
    Review By: Julio D. Anta
    Tracklisting:

    01. Forget What You Came For
    02. A Thousand Winters Melting
    03. The Holiest Of Thieves
    04. “Don’t Let Them See You!”
    05. We Will Be Disappointed Together (arrow version)
    06. BONUS: Sneak Peak at With Arrows, With Poise

    Members/Duties:

    Jeremy Edwardson: Vocals, Guitar, Programming
    John Schofield: Bass
    Steven Tracy: Guitar, Keys, Programming
    Jonathan Young: Guitar, Cello Bow
    Randy Miller: Drums

Currently being spun on MTV2 via “Dew Circuit Breakout” promos every other commercial break (or at least every time I give that piece of crap channel a chance at pleasing my eyes), Seattle natives The Myriad are on the verge of releasing their highly anticipated sophomore effort With Arrows, With Poise. Notoriously known as the most criticized album in a bands career, the second record’s low points are always compared to the first record’s high points. “Their new album isn’t as heavy as their last,” “Their new album is too heavy,” “What happened to all the catchy melodies?” and “I don’t think they’re Christian anymore, all they sing about is girls.” All these are quotes taken from this very webzine. My point… it’s okay for you to worry about your favorite bands second album; They do a great job at letting us down (Emery’s The Question I’m talking to you).

With that said, The Myriad fans, you have nothing to worry about. Though, the bands sophomore album has yet to hit stores, Prelude to Arrows, the limited edition EP (offered exclusively through the bands webstore) offers a five song glimpse into what will make up With Arrows, With Poise.

Opening with “Forget What You Came For,” piano’s drive the song from the wide ambiance filled intro into a more stripped down verse where “As all the lives go down you’ll see/ that things aren’t what they seem/for the sounds that spin you round, will crush your bones” is sung by vocalist/ guitarist Jeremy Edwardson before opening back into the fuller sound – a trend that continues throughout the rest of the track.

Fusing vocals reminiscent to those of Radiohead’s Thom Yorke and the ethereal sonic atmospheres The Myriad are known and celebrated for, “The Holiest Of Thieves” goes down as on of the album’s stand-out tracks along with “Don’t Let Them See You.” Basically the only song with audible guitar distortion, “Don’t Let Them See You” makes great use of the distorted guitars by creating a wall of sound rivaled to that of post-rock instrumental bands.

The album closes with a bonus track titled “Sneak Peak At With Arrows, With Poise.” Composed of snippets from many of the songs on the upcoming album, members of The Myriad talk about the songs, writing and recording process which took place Seattle, Detroit, Berlin, and London. Tentatively scheduled for a Spring 2008 release, With Arrows, With Poise is looking to be one of my most anticipated albums of the year.

Blood & Ink Signs Send Out Scuds

Ska is dead? Obviously Blood & Ink Records don’t agree as they just signed Send Out Scuds from Kissimmee, Florida. Check out the bands ska/punk/rock fusion by clicking on one of the links. The band will head into the studio in Spring 2008 to record their debut that will release in late Spring/Summer 2008.

    Stuff Your Tummy

Good morning everyone. Happy Thanksgiving! I hope it’s a good one for all of you and your families. Don’t stuff your tummys too big, you don’t want to burst. That would be messy. Take care.
