    The Famine signed

Solid State Records has now signed The Famine (ex-Embodyment).  The group is currently finishing up writing their debut. (buzzgrinder.com)

what happened to the post of Across five aprils?

    2. bloodwater | July 4th, 2007 | 7:43 pm

I deleted it and emailed brandon about it to see what he thought of them and if they should be posted about still.

sorry if what I did seemed rash, I wasn’t sure how to go about letting everyone know why it had been taken down.

      Knew this was coming.

And it’s good to see they’re actually signing much heavier bands again. Let’s hope they do that a lot more.

solid state = the best heavy music label

    8. Brandon | July 4th, 2007 | 10:34 pm

      Good for them.

    9. Quincy | July 5th, 2007 | 7:07 am

Yeah, personally I think Solid State puts out pretty good heavy stuff. If I was still young with tough ears, I’d be all over ‘em.

Embodyment brings back memories. Probably the most drastic sounds changes any Tooth & Nail / Solid State were made by Embodyment, yet I loved all of them from Breed to Songs For The Living.

    10. Quincy | July 5th, 2007 | 7:08 am

I meant Embrace The Eternal rather than Breed.

SS doesn’t have the heaviness that it used to. Compare the newer bands with the older and you’ll see that. No one on the label touches the heaviness of(old) Embodyment, Extol, Overcome, Training For Utopia, Society’s Finest, Focal Point, Lengsel, or Spitfire. I’d like to see them bring back more bands like that as well as keeping the newer bands. Mix it up a bit.

I’ve been listening to The Famine on their MySpace page and, to these ears, it sounds great. Looking forward to this album.
