Kings to You in Alt Press

I opened up my latest issue of Alternative Press and found that Kings to You have a small feature on them in the mag. It’s on page 44 under “Unsigned Bands of the Month”. Congrats to the band.

uhhh… great. (who’s kings to you?) jk. i think i’ve said this before, but i can see why kings to you hasn’t been signed.

      Why’s that John? I’m curious :)

    3. The Headless Horseman | July 2nd, 2007 | 9:21 pm

Since he hasn’t responded, let me help out. From what I heard from Brandon, the reason would be because they turned down a record deal.

    4. Brandon | July 3rd, 2007 | 10:50 am

Yeah Headless is right! However a deal may be on the horizon so we’ll see and of course I’ll report it the first it happens.

hahaha dave arthur(vocals) is my brother in christ… They are waiting for the best of the best… bit they dont want to be on a christian label cause they dont want to feel like ther obligated to write christian lyrics. theyve turned down victory, tooth and nail, solid state, and virgin

    6. Brandon | July 24th, 2007 | 11:03 pm

They haven’t turned down any of those labels. Unless I’m outta the loop. I didnt know they were even offered deals by any other labels yet.

    7. Levi G | July 25th, 2007 | 6:05 pm

Besides, T&N/Solid State doesn’t require Christian lyrics. They do require that their bands don’t swear, so unless that’s the problem…

    8. Brandon | July 25th, 2007 | 8:45 pm

At this point, they need to take any deal that comes their way. They have waited like what, 4 years now to be signed by another label. They have been working hard at music since they were 15 and started Dismissed. They have come a long way and deserve so much more. I hope they get a good deal somewhere down the road. I’d hate to see them break up.

    9. John | July 25th, 2007 | 9:45 pm

they’ve turned down victory. they’ve turned down tooth and nail. they’ve turned down solid state. you HAVE to be kidding me. no way something that big would pick these guys up. no hate towards this band, it’s just they’re just so mediocre. i mean, strike back sounds like a rip off of a Red song. i think it was Wasting Time.

    10. DontXBlink | July 26th, 2007 | 12:52 am

wow john…atleast kings to you has talent…red is so mediocre.

    11. Brandon | July 26th, 2007 | 9:17 am

I doubt anyone in the band even knows who RED is. Why would you even bring that crappy band up? They have a lot of talent and have been doing this a long time (Since they were 15).

    12. John | July 26th, 2007 | 11:28 am

i agree it’s unlikely, but you can see why kings to you is mediocre just by the comparison here.

    13. The Headless Horseman | July 26th, 2007 | 12:04 pm

We can see why you think K2Y is mediocre by the comparison, but based on your effusiveness on the subject, we had already gotten that impression.

    14. JoshIVM | July 26th, 2007 | 2:28 pm

Doesn’t anyone get that this conversation is relative? Arguing wont solve a difference between likes and dislikes. John thinks K2Y is mediocre others think Red is (or even crappy in Brandon’s case). There is no point in arguing quality with people in the comments. Some people like some bands others don’t. Those opinions however do not change talent or quality.

The real issue would be the “rip-off”. I listened to the beginnings of all the Red songs and couldn’t find the rip off that is supposedly happening. Maybe you can point me to the song John? And John you really need to start doing better comparisons. K2Y and RED are in completely different genres and sound nothing like each other.

    15. John | July 26th, 2007 | 5:03 pm

aright, i’m not saying the two bands are to be compared in anyway. sry if i made it sound like it. i’m also not saying k2y DID rip off of red, i’m just saying some melodies sound alike. the chorus to Wasting Time and the chorus to Strike Back are similar.

and i actually like strike back. it’s just kind of generic, but it’s good.

    16. tally | August 14th, 2007 | 10:04 pm

hahah trust me i just talk to danny(bass). He did clearify that theyd rather go on a few tours and end it up. cause their getting older and they dont feel like God is telling them that they need live off of that life style. plus dave is the manager at wells fargo in albertsons in San Marcos, CA and he makes PLENTY of money and the other guys have great jobs so its not like they have to play shows and get signed they have good paying jobs.

    17. K2Y | August 16th, 2007 | 11:31 pm

Just to clarify a little here… The only label offer that Kings to You has had was for Strikefirst, and at the time the deal that they offered us wasn’t what we were looking for at the time. We are currently in the process of sending press packs to different labels (including the ones we supposedly got offers from, haha).

    18. Brandon | August 17th, 2007 | 1:40 am

Hey dudes, thanks for clarifying this! All the best in your search, I hope something good comes of it.
