iPhone
The iPhone comes out today. Is anyone getting one? Seems to have some interesting ideas but honestly more drawbacks to me than it’s worth. Should spark some great phones from others in the future though. iTunes is the biggest drawback for me because I cannot stand that program! June 28th, 2007

Paramore Explains Lyric
Normally I don’t post much about journals but in this case I will. Paramore’s vocalist Hayley, has taken some time up to write an interesting journal entry. Normally the band keeps things of faith quiet but this is honest and straightforward. It’s worth taking a look. [Myspace] [Purevolume] [Virb] June 28th, 2007

Free tracks and the Phamily
It looks like Gotee Records has followed suit with what Mono vs. Stereo did and have put up FreeGotee.com where you can get free tracks from Gotee artists. I guess it makes sense since they’re label mates and Mono vs. Stereo is just an office in the Gotee building. Family Force 5 has a new track up on their myspace called Whatcha G’on Do Wit It. (decoymusic.com) It seems as if Family Force 5 has taken down their familyforce5.com website as now that url just directs you to their myspace site. Such a shame, their old website was pretty rad. New Poll
There is another new poll up for genre favorites. Go vote and let your voice be heard (or not). The last poll showed an overwhelming number of you do not subscribe to music magazines. I guess that’s a sad note for print mags. That’s the problem with the internet, everything is right at your fingertips and there is no longer a need to wait on news to arrive at your doorstep. You can blame sites like ours I guess June 27th, 2007

Everyday Sunday review
My review for Everyday Sunday’s new release Wake Up! Wake Up! can be read here. June 27th, 2007
Everyday Sunday - Wake Up! Wake Up!
Artist: Everyday Sunday Tracklist: Joining the Flicker Records roster in 2002, Everyday Sunday released the instant hit, Stand Up. Videos for “Lose It Again” and “Wait” could be seen frequently on Christian rock video programs such as TVU, and the buzz was flying. They were highly unique among pop rock bands of the day. The sound was refreshingly different, and Trey Pearson’s voice was impossible to compare to anyone else’s. Now on their third album, Everyday Sunday have switched over to Inpop Records to pick up basically right where they left off. On the first few listens, a few things will become apparent. One, Everyday Sunday hasn’t changed much of anything about their sound. Two, that is not at all a bad thing. Much like Anberlin, Mae, or MxPx, this band has continued perfecting one sound instead of trying to branch out and trying to incorporate a lot of new ideas, gaining and losing whole groups of fans with each release. It will also be pretty obvious that this is a band that’s got everything together. Their sound is tight. The lyrics aren’t cliché, which is increasingly hard in this genre, apparently. The catchy and smartly-crafted melodies could easily be heard on any radio station, from the quick-paced opening “Let’s Go Back” with a vocal track so fast that five years ago it might have been mistaken for a rap, to the thoughtful “Apathy for Apologies” with chord arrangements that could have just as easily been found on a Relient K record. Overall, Wake Up! Wake Up!, is packed with excitement and energy, but carefully balanced out and avoiding the prepubescent sound of some of their peers. This is one of those albums that I wouldn’t run out and buy myself, but if my friend bought it, I would be excited and ask to listen to it in said friend’s car. It’s a fun listen for a few times through, and enjoyable, but I fear that it lacks any substantial lasting value. But even if it doesn’t stay a regular listen for a long time, it will be a worthy listen for a short time. Everyday Sunday know what they’re doing and they do it well, but there’s a little more needed before they’ll be considered greats. 7/10 June 26th, 2007
Demon Hunter Updates
Demon Hunter will be playing their only 2007 show at this year’s Cornerstone California, so if you live out there you better be there for the rest of us. As far as recording goes, the band has finished drums, and guitar and bass are nearing completion as well. They have started doing vocals as well. The album, which has yet to be titled, is being produced by Aaron Sprinkle and mixed by Machine (Lamb Of God, White Zombie). [Myspace] [Purevolume] |
