Not really news, but still interesting

These are last month’s fifteen most popular artists at Christianrocklyrics.com:

    1. As I Lay Dying
    2. Underoath
    3. Relient K
    4. Switchfoot
    5. Anberlin
    6. Thousand Foot Krutch
    7. Haste the Day
    8. mewithoutYou
    9. Casting Crowns
    10. Superchick
    11. Showbread
    12. Emery
    13. Jars of Clay
    14. Demon Hunter
    15. Project 86

Only in Christian music would bands like Jars of Clay or Casting Crowns be on the same list as bands like As I Lay Dying or Showbread.

I think its not the most popular artists. but the most popular lyrics, which goes to show you how great the lyrics are for bands like as i lay dying, anberlin, and mewithoutyou who arent on major labels like relient k and switchfoot

Most CD’s come with Lyrics. The only reason these bands are getting hit on these sites that provide Lyrcis…is because people are downloading music and then want to know the lyrics. Rather than supporting the band such as AS I LAY DYING who’s CD is every where, so why not buy it. Now i could understand if you Downloaded some something from oh lets say NOGGIN TOBOGGAN or UNDEROATH(back when they where good and played black metal). These bands albums you can’t buy in stores any more. So yeah download away and enjoy the lyrics to your favorite stolen music. -BiG K

Actually, I often will be sitting at the computer listening to music from a CD that I bought and then ripped into iTunes and will want to look at the lyrics, so rather than run back to my room and dig for that CD case and flip through the pages to find that song, it’s just easier to look it up online. Or if I have a certain line stuck in my head and can’t remember who it is, then I’ll Google it and find it through a lyrics site. So they’re not just for people who steal music. It’s also a convenience for people who buy music. And sometimes it’s cool to read the lyrics of an album that I don’t own like some older mewithoutYou or Showbread that I still enjoy reading even if I never heard the song before.

I agree with Eric, sometimes it’s easier just to look online for lyrics. However there is some truth to BIG K’s statement about people who download illegally. I know of a certain person who does it almost daily and this person then looks for the lyrics online. It sucks but what can you do?

    6. Jon | September 1st, 2006 | 10:48 am

or if you live in canada and download music legally. but yeah its way more convenient to look for lyrics online than find the cd case and figure it out. also if you wanted to put the lyrics on your website or something copying them off the site is easier than typing them in.

but yes. buy cds if you like the band and support them!

I agree, you should support the bands that are out there working their butts off for our entertainment. Buy a shirt, buy a cd, it helps more than you know.
