What’s up everyone? Hopefully you’re all doing well in the heat out there on the mainland
Well i’m still enjoying the mild weather of this blessed place known as Kauai. The Pennylane show went awesome last night. The opening acoustic act, Our Life Aquarious was very mellow and quite entertaining. Though the show was quite small, only about 100-200 people in attendance, Pennylane brought the rock. It was a very intimate evening. I wasn’t expecting their first two *newer* songs to be so darn heavy but man they sure rocked the stage. The crowd went absolutely nuts for these guys (Duh, it’s their home island). They played their hits “Not Waving But Drowing”, “The Role of You Care”, Riverside Waiting” along with one newer song that honestly I can’t remember the name of but it was pure rock with swaying melodies and an uplifting sound. They also played the live tracks from their ep “Silent Sky” and “Fall to Flames”, those songs are off the hook and crazy heavy. After sitting through one of the lamest opening bands that recalled Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver, I was relieved to endure the sights of Pennylane. Unfortunately my wife couldn’t be there because she became ill (She sure missed out on some quality rock n’ roll). My son was right there with me though and he got a second hand experience of a great evening. The weather was mild with a slight sprinkle of moisture outside and it made the perfect evening. Overall, I am extremely impressed with the quality music of Pennylane, their demeanor and friendly personality. You couldn’t meet a nicer group of individuals. It’s too bad I didnt stick around after the show to really talk with them (my son was extremely tired and worn out so we had to leave). Oh yeah, I dropped off a load of stickers at their booth so hopefully we’ll get a few more Hawaiian friends reading this here site. I really hope that these guys will continue to stick around and create their beautiful brand of music for years to come. Maybe someday with hope, they’ll visit the mainland once again. I am going to work on getting them a spot at Cornerstone next year, so we’ll see. God Bless all of you supporters of IVM out there and thank you from the bottom of my heart for continuing to read my ramblings (and nonsense to some). I’ll try to update one more time before I leave.
P.S. I went Kayaking the other day and it was absolutely a beautiful site riding up and down the river here. Well, talk to you all soon.
Have a wonderful day and keep the fire burning deep inside. Despite the need for rooting out terrorism in the middle east, I truly wish and hope for peace out there, across all borders and boundaries. I know that it’s impossible in this complicated world but I am saddened by the suffering of the innocents out there caught up in this mess, and our soldiers too. Take care.
Playlist for today:
Pennylane

Fireflight
By the way, the Fireflight disc is beyond excellent. I am completely in love with it’s sweeping soundscape and beautiful melodies. This is one of my most recommended discs of the moment and I encourage ALL of you to save your money, go out and BUY this incredible album. It’s is worth all of your hard earned money. They have a unique enough sound and in my opinion, one of the absolute best female fronted bands in today’s music climate. Check them out hereif you haven’t already.
