I got the new Brandtson in the mail yesterday and I gave it a listen. It wasn’t what I was expecting though I knew it was coming because of the songs I heard through their Myspace. I get a kick out of that “Earthquakes and Sharks” song because it’s funny. Other than that, the album is filled with bland retro dance rock revival stuff. Very different from the old days of tug at your heartstrings emotional rock. I am a bigger fan of Brandtson’s back catalog than I am of this new one. Though for what it’s worth, the album does have it’s good moments and a few songs that strike up old memories. If you’re into the whole dance pop rock revival stuff, bands like Men Women and Children, Nightmare of You, Head Automatica, etc, then you’ll love this. I give it a 6/10. I give “Trying to Figure Each Other Out” a 10/10. So there you go
