Demon Hunter, metalcore act, has released yet another single from their upcoming album, Outlive, called “Half As Dead”. The band started in 2000 as a project of Ryan and Don Clark’s (ex-Training for Utopia). Over the years, the lineup has solidified as Ryan (Vocals), Jon Dunn (Bass), Patrick Judge (Guitar), Jeremiah Scott (Guitar), and Timothy “Yogi” Watts (Drums). The album is due out on March 31. The new track is called “Half As Dead”. Like all the songs I’ve heard from the new album, it’s heavy, but melodic. I have not heard a song yet where there is any of the signature Demon Hunter screams. I didn’t pre-order the album, so I haven’t heard all the tracks, so maybe there is one or two, but I haven’t heard it. Anyways, I hope you enjoy.

Today, I’m doing something a little different. These bands are bands that people should know and that are on the rise. Check them out! And here you go!
5. Saints Can Lie
Metalcore acts have become very common in the United States. But Saints Can Lie seem to be doing something sort of fresh. The band formed in 2012 with the original lineup of brothers Vocalist Jake and Guitarist/Pianist Hunter Shaw, Guitarist John McDonough and Drummer Bryce Garland. The band comes from Texas, home to many amazing metal bands including Pantera and The Famine. On April 26, 2013, John, as well as Jake and Hunter, got into a car accident. John died that day, but the Shaw brothers survived. To this day, the band has memorialized him permanently on their Facebook page. The band is independent and has released an album titled Trial & Tribulation.

Here’s another one of those lists I’ve been working on. Primarily, the reoccurring genre this time ’round are in the ‘core genre. Hope you enjoy!
5. A Thousand Times Repent
Deathcore, as of late, has been extremely popular, especially with the last 4-5 years. If you want some good Christian deathcore, go listen to A Thousand Times Repent, as well as the Christian deathcore comps on Bandcamp. But back to the topic at hand. The band formed in 2006 as a sixpiece, one vocalist, one drummer, one bassist, and three guitarists. The band signed to Tribunal Records and released a single EP, Virtue Has Few Friends. Lineup changes ensued soon after and then disbanded around 2011, without any formal announcement. The band seemed to have some hype behind them back in the day, with the release of the EP. In more recent days, the band was given more press with… er… crime. Not the band members though, I assure you.
