Song of the Day: Lecrae - Jesus Muzik

So Lecrae is a decent gospel rapper that has done pretty well in the industry. I saw him live & talked to him in Chicago a few years back where he autographed a book I bought that was about his story. I like tons of rap genres & artists, but all of them have come from the Christian industry. That’s just my choice & I think it’s a good thing for Christians to be crossover artists as many people can relate & an artist’s dream is then a ministry.… Continued →

REVIEW : Trip Lee - The Waiting Room

“The Waiting Room” is Trip Lee’s sixth project. As mentioned in this article from Fuse, this is not a proper album per se, hence it being deemed a ‘mixtape.’ Such a term is one of ambiguity, as it can refer to an album with blending and scratching, where the songs flow together, while it can also refer to an album with non-cleared samples and stolen beats from bourgeois producers or beat makers. Trip offers something that differs from both definitions, and I think he does so successfully.… Continued →

REVIEW : Derek Minor - Empire

With Minorville, Derek Minor came into his own as a producer, writer, and emcee. But minor flaws aside (pun intended), Empire takes the crown as his best album to date. From its gladiatorial beginning to it’s Twilight Zone-trap-music finale, Empire is a powerful statement on kingdom-building & has raised the bar for what could be a fantastic year for music.

REVIEW : Lecrae - Anomaly

Finding him at his most confident, this album is a shining example of who Lecrae is as an artist and individual. It’s structure & production may be wide-ranging, but Lecrae is attempting to present his eclectic sound to the widest audience possible. But in the end, what do you expect on an album called Anomaly?

REVIEW : Tedashii - Below Paradise

Thematically similar to Stephen Curtis Chapman’s Beauty Will Rise, Below Paradise is an encouraging album from beginning to end. It might not be what some fans wanted to hear, but it was what Tedashii needed to create.
