My hometown of Long Beach, CA is the birthplace of Sublime, Snoop Dogg (or Lion…), and the hardcore band known as Fragments. As I am sure you know, art can be expressed in many different forms. Artists can be defined as musicians, actors, painters, baristas, costume designers, carpenters, beat poets, and many more titles. In theatre, there are certain talented actors that can be identified as “Triple Threats” (possessing the skills of singing, acting and dancing). While singer-songwriters are quite common in the music industry, Gayle Skidmore can be identified as far more than that.

Releasing their EP ‘Love Walked In’ on September 10th; independent worship duo The Sonflowerz were able to undertake an email interview with myself not that long ago. Here are the questions and answers, as what was discussed ranged from their successful kickstarter campaign (funding the EP, new book and fall tour), to what they wanted the EP to portray to those who listen to it.
Oklahoma City based singer/songwriter Leah has set up an IndieGoGo campaign to fund her newest EP Every Move. At $6,000, her goal is one of the most reasonable I’ve seen lately. Leah has just 31 days left as of this writing and is already beginning to work with producer Daniel Ornellas (Tree63, Brenton Brown) in Nashville. Leah will be opening for Kristene DiMarco (Jesus Culture) & Ross Turner on 2 dates of their “Break Every Chain” Tour.
As a reviewer I admit that I’ve likely given too many “4′s.” A month or two after writing up a review, I’ll look at the score with a little perspective and think “that was really more a 3″ (and even an occasional 3 that should have been a 2). Though this is certainly not common, it does happen. However, I have come to pride myself that I save the big one (a perfect 5) for only the best of the…
Abandon are taking the bold step of being an independent band for the first time in several years. The band have begun a kickstarter to fund this new independent release and hope to raise $25000 through pre-orders and special incentives.
