DENS - Foolish (Tamed Tongues Sessions)
DENS released an absolutely stunning reworking of their 2020 full length, “Taming Tongues”, and re-released it as “Tamed Tongues” earlier this year. As you may have guessed, this too would further cement the band’s place among among some of the best bands in the music scene today. “Diverse” doesn’t even begin to tell the whole, complete story. You really have to experience all 4 of the band releases to understand the complexities, the melodies, the words, the worship, and the heart beat that keeps this band spinning.… Continued →

Meadows Sign With Facedown Records
Meadows, a band I’ve written about a bit in the past as well as other writers here, will be coming out with brand new music. They have signed a deal with Facedown Records and have dropped their new single “The Depths”. I encourage you to go check out both of their last 2 releases and give them a listen. It’s great ambient, post-metal/post-hardcore stuff similar in scope to Hands, Between the Buried and Me, Thrice, A Hope for Home, Life In Your Way, Underoath, Architects, etc.… Continued →

HolyName Could Be The Biggest and Most Important Music Act of Our Time
What seemingly began as a solo project of sorts for Tommy Green of Sleeping Giant, HolyName is likely to become one of our music scene’s most important and dare I say, “influential”, acts in a long time. The music hits you in all the right spots, digging deep into the most hardened of hearts. The emotions swelling up between heavy, chugging guitars, thundering drum beats, and soft, soothing vocals building into this sort of adrenaline fueled, aggressive, and violent (sounding) worship music that you’ll never hear at a Church on Sunday morning.… Continued →

DENS has put out another track from their upcoming “Tamed Tongues” release. The song is “Even” and is a new version of the same track featured on the band’s 2020 album, “Taming Tongues”. This song/version is further proof of this band’s unmistakable talent and continued draw as one of the great new indie bands gracing our music scene here in 2021. Just when you thought “rock” music didn’t have anything new or relevant to offer, I present to you the band DENS. This hard working band has been at it for nearly a decade in one form or another.… Continued →

DENS to Drop Tamed Tongues, a New Version of Taming Tongues
Beloved indie rock/post-hardcore band, DENS, return with a completely new and reworked version of their 2020 album titled “Tamed Tongues”. The album will featured all reworked versions of the songs found on “Taming Tongues” but incorporating a more toned down, acoustic, Americana like vibe. The band dropped a new music video for the lead off track, “To”, that you can watch below. This is an exciting release to keep your eyes and ears on. I wish more bands would do something like this. Best of 2020: Rob Jensen
I was going to write a little intro to this list of mine, but in the end I figured I’d just let it speak for itself. Alot of great music dropped despite all the year brought us and these are my top 20. Let me know what you think!
20. Everything In Slow Motion – “Influence”. (Rock/Hard Rock) Released 10/16/20 on Facedown Records. Influence was the band’s first release since the 2016 ep, Laid Low. While it didn’t feel like a whole lot of new ground was covered, that is a good thing, especially considering their sound.… Continued →

Fallstar Return With Intense and Personal New Song
Fallstar are back and with a new song in tow. Check out the track “SSRI Feel Better Already” below this post and give it a solid listen. The song will appear on the new album “Sunbreather”, out February 2021 through Facedown Records. I was an on/off Fallstar fan in the past probably due to my tastes at the time but this new song completely changes my entire outlook on the band and their job as musicians. This is solid and I mean that in the most sincere way.… Continued →

Song of the Day: Weathered-Quick Tempered
Facedown Records indie rock band Weathered’s first & latest single Quick Tempered from their upcoming album lyrical content is simply some of the most profound lyrics that I’ve seen in a while. They seem to align with my favorite Bible verse that I have tattooed on my arm. 2 Corinthians 10:5 says Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.
Here are the lyrics up until the bridge.… Continued →

Everything In Slow Motion Drops 2nd Song, "Choke"
Shane, why must you create such fresh, relevant, heart wrenching new music? This song literally grabs you by the throat and well, releases a flood of all the best emotions. In reality, this song does anything but “Choke” you but it does grip you with a collection of notes and music performed by a talented ensemble of well seasoned musicians. Song of the Day: Point of Recognition - Day of Defeat
SoCal hardcore band Point of Recognition (or Point of Wreckinthangs as they were affectionately known by fans) released 3 full-lengths, an EP and a pair of split releases before disbanding in the mid-2000s. Members popped up elsewhere in the scene, but the band’s existence was sadly short. Nonetheless, their impact was felt strongly in both the Christian and secular hardcore scenes. Playing a heavy form of “new school” or “tough guy” hardcore, they stuck close to their roots, not following into the more and more metal-influenced versions of hardcore that were developing rapidly around them.… Continued →

DENS - They
DENS’ latest track, “They,” is accompanied by a music video. The song is taken from their forthcoming album, Taming Tongues, which will be available March 6 on Facedown Records.
“They” is the result of reflecting on an ongoing pattern we have seen in our relationships and in the conversations that encircle us. Namely, there is often a fundamental breakdown in communication due to a lack of precision in language, a cloud of emotion that colors our reactions, and an unwillingness to empathize with other people.… Continued →
