Hailing from the Seattle area, the band also had close ties with others in the scene like Pedro the Lion, Damien Jurado, Blenderhead, and even Sunny Day Real Estate (vocalist Jeremy Enigk provided guest vocals on one POL track).… Continued →

The Sprinkle brothers are back! If you don’t know who that is, then stop reading. Go and find Poor Old Lu, The World Inside, Aaron Sprinkle, Paloma, Fair . . . I could go on but I’m using up valuable reviewing space (and I didn’t even mention the production credits)! Considering who is involved in this project, you might think you already know what it’s going to sound like. And sure, you might be in the right ballpark—alternative/indie rock with a capital Rock. But you haven’t heard this.… Continued →

Fair Announces New Album?

On April Fool’s Day, Fair announced a new album entitled “Luncheons and Wagons” to be released on July 8th, 2017. Naturally, skepticism on the legitimacy of this news is high. However, Fair’s Facebook page has been quite active the past few weeks. Now that we’re a few days into April, there has been no mention whether the announcement was indeed an April Fool’s joke. Many readers will remember Copeland announced they would be returning with a new record on April 1st, 2014. Conversely, July 8th, 2017 is a Saturday, which deviates from the standard record release day on Friday.… Continued →

Anberlin's "Cities" Ten Years Later

It’s been ten years since Anberlin released their third record, Cities, on February 20th, 2007 through Tooth & Nail RecordsCities is widely regarded as the Florida band’s finest release and for good reason. Their first two records offered a strong start for the group and showcased an increasing realization of their potential. Cities is simply where it all seemed to come together. The album highlights are almost too numerous to list. The record contains high energy rockers such as “Godspeed” and “Adelaide”, quiet, heartfelt numbers in “The Unwinding Cable Car” and “Inevitable”, mid-tempo songs like “Alexithymia” and “Dismantle.… Continued →

REVIEW : Aaron Sprinkle - Water & Guns

Aaron Sprinkle has turned his impressive talents to a new genre: pop. Is it a good direction for him? Yes and no. He brings a high level of production quality and songwriting to the genre which I find refreshing, but while it’s musically superb and unique in his discography, the lyrics do suffer a drop in depth – or maybe I’m just not on the right wavelength.
