[Bio]

Synthesizing scathing American technicality and progressive European harmony, Chicago’s Afterimage is a unique new voice in modern death metal that will instantly appeal to fans of bands such as Extol, Scar Symmetry, and Disarmonia Mundi. Formed by brothers Dan and Mike Gleason, the band spent their teenage years on the local circuit, honing their live chops and building a loyal following among fans of heavy Christian music. Their 2007 debut EP, ‘Codex: Triumph in the Eschaton’, met with acclaim from audiences and critics alike, selling more than 1,000 copies and was hailed by HM Magazine as “produced and played terrifically well…. Simply put, these guys rule!” In 2008, the band joined Becoming the Archetype (Solid State) and Sea of Treachery to tour the US and Canada, and also appeared at Cornerstone Music Festival from 2007 to 2009, where they shared the stage with a number of notable bands.

Not content with these accolades, the band returned to the studio in 2011 to amp up their technical craft and Christian message on a full-length record. The result, ‘Unveil the Unseen’, is sonically staggering and meticulously produced, boasting a cinematic scope that invokes the conflict of the Christian’s journey through the many peaks and valleys of life. To be found instrumentally are aggressive 7-string riffs, spitfire roars, searing speed interwoven with spacious keyboards, boldly sung melodies, and thrilling leads. It is a vivid portrait of a world beset by chaos—but tempered by the faith that all can made anew.
