Singer/Songwriter Zach Winters is one of the best kept secrets in the scene right now, and Noisetrade is now offering his 2011 album They Were Longing For A Better Country for free. It’s a unique brand of indie-folk in the same vein as Bon Iver, Josh Garrels, Sufjan Stevens, Josh White, and Arthur Alligood. It’s calming, complex, and thoroughly pensive. Thoughts?

I downloaded this last week and have just started listening to it. I’m liking it! I hear a lot of an early Iron & Wine influence.
