Does anyone think the beat in the middle of the song reminds them of the beat from Pray Tell off of DIAWLITP?
I shall listen again and see if I hear that connection.
Nevermind, I don’t think it reminds me of it as much as I first thought on my first listen.
I kinda heard it too..it went away though.
quite possibly their best song since Cities. The Resistance might top it.
Anything from Cities tops anything this band has, is, or will ever do haha!! That album is a masterpiece, but this song is ALMOST right up there next to those songs!!! But man this is so so good! Anberlin is back!!!
Although their last album was pretty phenomenal too. I only really didn’t like New Surrender by this band (minus the Resistance)
Love the new song! Don’t love starting this post out with “Alternative rockers”
yea, dish the alternative! these guys are defining rock and not an alternative :D
what, I mean thats more or less what they are… it’s just for if anyone here by some chance wasn’t familiar with them
Technically, alternative rock is a general term for “indie rock, but more macho”. Which fits Anberlin.
Genre geek here. Editing Wikipedia has ruined me.
Yea, what else would you classify Anberlin as??? They are the epitome of alternative rock haha…just listen to their last album!
Haha yes I was just kidding :) not super serious and i agree with alt rock classification
I was referring directly to the phraseology “Alternative Rockers” not the classification of anberlin as alternative rock. It sounds kind kitschy to me.
yeah I’ll admit it kind of is haha
Anberlin is the alternative…to good music. AMIRITE.
wut
Unless your saying Anberlin sucks you need to learn what alternative means.
Gimme a pre-order now
This rules, aaron’s influence is sprinkled all over this song(ha)
Boooooo!
Loving it. Aaron Sprinkle does a lot of great production for many bands, and Anberlin’s best work happens when he’s around.
I agree. I was booing Luke’s terrible pun, not Aaron Sprinkle.
WOW! Anberlin just killed it on this song. The drum work especially is just incredible.
I liked the intro to the song, took me by surprise.. which, means… I think I will like this CD.
Sooooo good!
Also, not sure if anyone caught the line in the editorial but Nate wrote the skeleton/structure of the song. I think several he wrote were used on this album.
Yea, that article that accompanied this song was so interesting…60-70 songs written before recording…40 going INTO the studio?!?! Man, Nate has been busy haha!
We can probably expect Lost Songs Vol. 2 sometime soon… I hope :)
@ evan144 Nate didn’t most of those, it was Joey…
@linds…facepalm on my part haha!!! I need to read more carefully sometimes haha! Thanks for the correction.
WOW. This song freaking rules. So good and I really liked the harmonies with his wife! Yeah, I’m ready for this album.
his wife did the harmonies? where’d you hear that? it wasn’t in the article, was it?
No but he did on his twitter!

Their hair didn’t change too much for this album cycle…. On a serious note, very good song. Great choice for a single.
Hopefully half of the tracks on this album isn’t epic epic ballads like on Dark Is the Way. They need to bring the rock.
I am really excited about this new album. I love this band an yes I am a bit biased :)
Likee this song and it gets me really excited too. Why are you biased?
Because I’ve met the guys and hung out with them a bit. Not to mention that I’ve interviewed Stephen for this site like 3-4 times since 05′ ;) I just love this band and I’m a big fan.
1st Anberlin song I ever heard was “Ready Fuels” on Im Your Biggest Fan. Thanks for starting it all Brandon!
Oh, gotcha. I really enjoy the M83 influences.
Favorite band ever and when this album drops it could make that permanent for me. Not to make a Cities comparison, but as an opener, does this song remind anyone else of “Godspeed” a little? Not that it sounds very similar at all, but it has the same sort of drive. Wonder if there’ll be an intro?
Also on another note, the lyrics don’t disappoint. My only major qualm with DITWLIAP:
http://anberlin.tumblr.com/
Any specific lyrics from Dark is a Place… you disliked? I found New Surrender to be the weakest lyrically (and musically, and in basically every way possible).
Just a lot of the songs are built around repetition which isn’t so bad (the chorus of “Closer” is one of my favorite moments in any Anberlin song ever) but for the most part the lyrics weren’t on par with previous material. (most would point you to “Art of War”) I think that whole album is so incredible musically though. Bummer it wasn’t as well received among fans.
Apparently the first official radio single “Someone Anyone” has been released to some radio outlets. Really interested to hear what it sounds like! Surprised “Self-Starter” isn’t the first official single…?
Yeah I just found out that Alt Nation (Sirius Satellite Radio) has it in rotation which means I’ll be able to hear it soon.
After hearing “Someone Anyone” I think it’s safe to say Stephen Christian’s word is good that this is the most aggressive Anberlin record.
Just heard it as well and and yeah if this is the radio single and is this heavy than i have no doubt the rest of the album will be Anberlins heaviest
the recording I heard of it was pretty terrible, but wow, wow that was good
Super catchy…i’m seriously going to have it stuck in my head all week.
Someone Anyone is officially up for stream at the official website. This album is going to rule. :)
