Manafest is one of my favorite artists(has been for about 4 years) and I hate this. I’ll still check out the rest of the album, but this is to mainstream and predictiable.
Sounds like something that would get heavy rotation on my local Christian station
Just another underrated artist. Can’t wait for this album.
it’s not a bad song IMO, but it doesn’t sound like Manafest anymore. I hope this is a slow song and not what most of the CD will be like…
As much as I LOVE Manafest and The Chase, he is not a singer. He can’t pull it off live. If he is actually writing these songs, he needs to sell them to someone else and stick to the rap and get the guest vocals for the singing and rock parts, or at least limit them. I’ve always loved that he infuses the rock into his rap, but he shouldn’t drop the rap or try to be a singer. He is too good to get up on stage and fake the singing, it makes him look bad in my opinion.
It sounds like he has been Tooth and Nailed
Ha ha, that is funny. I was thinking he sounds more like tobyMac. A bit more mainstream.
I still have high hopes for him. He deserves more attention. Amazing live show btw!
There’s little question in my mind that this is is not representative of what most of the new album will sound like. That being said, my hat goes off to him for mixing it up and branching out on this track. Even though this isn’t my typical style, I think it’s a great song. I’ve met Manafest a few times; super down-to-earth dude who really takes time for his fans. And I have to agree with Alex about the amazing live show. I’m really looking forward to another album!
I have to admit it’s nice to hear him actually sing (I’ve never seen him live, but he sounds good here) and know that he doesn’t need Trevor MacNevan to sing all of his choruses. Also, aside from being a tad more generic than his other work, I don’t see anything particularly wrong with the song. It’s not annoying, it’s not painful to listen to (for me, anyway), and it certainly doesn’t have a bad message (trust me, Christian music is capable of it – Skillet’s “It’s Not Me It’s You”, anyone?). It’s just a run-of-the-mill inoffensive P&W ballad – guy wants to pull out one of those from time to time, I see no problem with it.
I’m totally making a remix of this song, it’s dope! Manafest is the illest and y’all sleepin on the cat!
I’m sitting on the couch
Maybe he is just trying to prove that Trevor McNaven doesn’t always have to be the lead on vocals. I have seen Manafest play without him before and he did excellent on the Trevor parts!
Wow, I like this new TobyMac song alot!
Oh wait…
