Indie Vision Music proudly presents their first ever Punk Rock free digital compilation titled “Punk Never Dies Vol. 1″ launching for Free Today! This compilation is split into 4 files to make for easier downloading. The 4 files will start in alphabetical order so you must download all 4 if you want to hear the entire thing (and every song/band).

I am so proud to be presenting bands as diverse as The Altar Billies, which feature legendary singer/songwriter/guitarist Mike Stand who helped inspire a whole generation of punk rockers with his time in The Altar Boys, to Mxpx who helped usher in a new era of “punk rock” in the 90′s that wasn’t afraid to have a good time and still wear “faith” on it’s sleeve, to Dogwood who singer Josh Kemble declared “My Faith in you will never die….” and on to a whole new crop of bands that will hopefully re-establish what it means to be punk rock and inspired by Faith, here in 2011. I encourage you to check out this free digital download (going live on November 1st), listen to all the songs, and finally visit all the bands on their social media sites listed below. Support these hard working bands by going to their shows, buying their merch, buying their albums, telling your friends about them, and spreading the word. Every little bit helps. Enjoy!

  1. Andrew says:

Wow. I’m really excited for this now.

  2. Seth says:

    Sweet! Totally stoked!

  3. BrandonP says:

Still can’t believe MxPx is doing this!

  4. This is gonna be awesome!

  5. Sweet. An early new Flatfoot recording, eh?

(2 cents: I would say do not create new social media accounts to promote this… we all have social media overload already anyway. Existing accounts will be fine, and will even have the benefit of promoting and growing themselves while you’re promoting this compilation with them.)

  6. Flatfooooot :D

    this news
    makes me so happy
    cause of the new songs
and i’ve been trying to find some good punk artists
    and hfkjdhgjakhgadg
I AM EXCITED ABOUT THIS, GUYS

  7. SirCorn says:

    belair.!!!!
    YES!!!!

  8. Chandler A. says:

    …Pretty Awesome!

  9. Brandon says:

Mxpx will be contributing a new song off their upcoming album. Mike just has to get back to me about which track. I am trying to get an Arthur song too since many of you never bought that album ;) As for Flatfoot 56, they are going to “try” and get a new song done. Did you notice that they are no longer with Old Shoe Records? I just found that out today. There will be many more bands added to this over the next few months and some VERY SPECIAL SURPRISES. This is just the first wave of bands confirmed, a few more including some labels still need to get back to me before I add them to the list above. I think you’ll be pleased ;)

  10. Brandon says:

I’ve just been told that the band Shakedown Boulevard will not only be recording one new song but also a “cover” of a Squad 5-0 song from the “Bombs Over Broadway” album. We’ll let you know what song it is soon.

  11. DT says:

“2). Song must not be recorded in poor conditions and sound like a ‘bedroom recording’”

So not punk… or does that not exclude live garage recordings?

    • Brandon says:

haha I got owned! I get sent A LOT of music and have done a ton of these free compilations since 2006, so many that i’ve lost count. You would be surprised by the amount of crappy recordings I’ve heard. I don’t mind “demos” and real punk rock stuff recorded with a modest, meager budget, but if it sounds really crappy and makes you want to skip tracks, then what’s the point? I am just throwing that out there to make a point.

    • DT says:

Ha, yeah, I understand. I was just thinking of some friends. They’re good; great vocals, great lyrics, 100% punk, but I believe they do record in a garage. I’ll tell them to get some better recordings before November.

    • One of the things we stress big time for the artists that submit stuff to Broken is that they can not stand out on the station in a bad way so we push recording quality big time but these days you can do some amazing things in garages.

    • Brandon says:

Punk Rock was born in garages and sweaty clubs, don’t get me wrong, I am not bashing those bands. There is talent in the “raw”. I am more talking about covering up no talent with autotune, synths, protools, and a bedroom collection of recording equipment that makes you sound like a crappy demo. Even garage bands can sound good if done right. I used to listen to all the cassette tape demos of punk rock bands when I worked at Screaming Giant/ Slingshot Records back in the day so I know what works and what sounds like crap ;)

  12. Andy K says:

This comp sounds great! Can’t wait to hear the Squad Five-O cover.

  13. Sam says:

PUMPED! I’ll be downloading this sucker on day one

  14. thruchristalone777 says:

    AWESOME!!!!!!!

  15. schlottermann says:

Looks awesome so far. Here’s hoping for a Capital Lights song. And Search the City would be amazing. Didn’t we hear they are doing one more album soon?

  16. gabe says:

i got an idea. how bout a hip-hop compilation next with some legit christian artists that are kind of under the radar and some more established artists as well. artists like The procussions, mr j mederos, shad, scribbling idiots, LA Symphony, Buffalo Automatic, Alert, Braille, Odd Thomas, Grits, Lecrae and other Reach records artists, and more. i think that there is an audience for hiphop on this site from some of the comments i’ve seen.

  17. Justin (the other) says:

Blood and Water and MxPx!!! :) Very exciting. And I used to love Squad Five-O. I’m pumped to hear this cover.

But seriously, I had thought it was mainly punk rock compilation until I saw the words Philmont and Eleventyseven. And then I changed my mind. And then I noticed Brandon’s ad: “If you are in a punk rock/poppunk band…”

And then I wrinkled my nose and frowned when I actually noticed Skyhawk Drive on the list……haha. :S

  18. KeithX says:

    Only 77 days to go!

    • KeithX says:

I realize that my comment could be taken as a criticism, but I hope not. I’m looking forward to this very much and the time is needed to get everything compiled, no doubt. It’s going to be great (like all the IVM samplers).

  19. Chris says:

Can’t wait! good work guys! and haha i was stoked to see Skyhawk! their lead singer’s such a good dude and im a pop punk kid at heart anyway haha!

  20. Chris says:

The Hoax, False Idle and possibly Flatfoot 56. *tilts sunglasses*

I can’t believe they are not on that label anymore. Flatfoot has such amazing songs that they gain fans at every show.

I request The Undecided, Huntingtons and Our Corpse Destroyed should submit new tracks.

  21. Brandon says:

I have added the band Goodnight Wednesday to this. They will be giving us a new song too. Unfortunately we won’t be able to get anything from Tooth & Nail, sorry I tried really hard :(

  22. KeithX says:

Hey IVM, you guys ever think of adding an edit feature? So when I miscalculate by forgetting August, I can go back and fix it. ;)

    • Brandon says:

We probably couldn’t do that safely. People would start editing everyone’s posts and each other and me! haha. Who knows, maybe wordpress has some kind of plugin that lets you individually log-in for each comment and personally edit it one at a time or something?

    • fusse says:

I could code/make that happen but I don’t think that’s a good idea because people could change/remove things they have written that people have already commented on thus making threads not make sense or change the things that they should have thought twice in the first place… maybe something like edit option for like a
minute after posting to fix possible mistakes and then it would be set

    • fusse says:

and this would of course be tied to ip address or logged in status. for example only registered users could edit…

    • iamjustin says:

i think an edit button is a good idea, sometimes i misspell words and look really dumb

  23. XWriting on the WallsX says:

    YES!!!!!!

  24. gabe says:

it would be a lot of work, but you never know. people might download, especially if it’s advertised on sites like sphereofhiphop.com or rapzilla.com. it could expose a lot of people that have never heard quality christian hiphop to some really good artists. the way i see it is, hiphop in the mainstream(way back in the day) didnt really catch a hold until people like Aerosmith started partnering with Run DMC and the beastie boys started opening for the Sex Pistols. Christian rap can’t stay in it’s own little ghetto(for lack of a better word) if it’s gonna gain popularity.

  25. gabe says:

that was supposed to have need a reply to Josh, but i messed up.

    • iamjustin says:

it’s too bad we don’t have an edit button

but to comment on the hip hop compilation, i’m pretty sure i can get the guys from lampmode to give us some tracks, and could maybe get some ad space on rapzilla
that being said, i dont think we host the target market for hip hop compilations

  26. dylanJFFL says:

I am down for any type of compliation. but a hip hop one would be pretty cool

  27. A hop hop one would be pretty awesome, yeah.

  28. gabe says:

this site definitley doesn’t even come close to the target market for hip hop. but people do love free stuff. i can get some tracks from a few local people i know, and i know a dude who’s pretty cool with a lot of the underground Christian rappers like deepspace 5 type people and a few others. most of them aren’t even signed it shouldnt be too hard to get tracks from them.

  29. gabe says:

@joshivm, i went ahead and emailed you some info. i don’t wanna take any attn away from”punk never dies vol. 1″. btw, i will b downloading this come November. i like rap and stuff, but man cannot live hip hop alone. lulz.

  30. GodsMalak says:

I miss One Bad Pig so much… This is a pretty good mix though! Great driving music!!! :D

  31. Brandon says:

*Added Atombender to the compilation list. They will be recording a brand new song. They are in the studio right now working on their new album. Also recently added Arthur, Watashi Wa, Same as Sunday, and Goodnight Wednesday.

I will be making some special surprise announcements regarding more bands very soon plus I should have some first drafts of the album covers we’re working on, posted soon.

Please help us promote this compilation by using the hashtag #punkneverdies on Twitter, by visiting the Event Page on Facebook http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=253776524638748 and inviting your friends to it, and linking people to our website.

  32. Paul says:

NEW BLOOD AND WATER!!! YES. NEW SONG, I can’t wait.

  33. Josh says:

rumor mill has FBS on this comp too? and with a new song? what?!?!?

  34. Seth says:

Dude, this list just gets better and better.

  35. Brandon says:

I just want everyone to know that I received the “unreleased” Watashi Wa song today. I listened to it and it is great. It’s poppy stuff and very nicely done. I am quite surprised it was never released. You are all going to love it. #punkneverdies

  36. Hey Brandon, you should ask Stellar Kart for one of their Disney songs for this comp. I’m just saying. :)

    • Brandon says:

Already tried that and/or a “new” or unreleased track but the label wouldn’t go for it. Apparently some labels still expect a royalty even on a “free” compilation. Go figure. Free promotion on a website viewed by thousands certainly can’t hurt.

  37. mark says:

    You had me at Twotimer

    • Brandon says:

I really like the song (from Twotimer). We originally streamed it on this site over a year or more ago and I just decided to give it away. It was recorded after their album on Screaming Giant right before they broke up.

  38. mr. zer0 says:

This is just great stuff. Thanks IVM.

  39. Brandon says:

    >>>NEW SONG PREVIEW by ALL AT RISK<<<

Check out “Stream” of the song “In This Place (It’s Never Been)”, above

  40. Josh says:

I was just talking to Brad from Blood and Water yesterday and he told about the new song they were doing for this comp… so. freaking. stoked.

  41. phiL says:

so i still see that Huntingtons are not on board & now MxPx no longer is listed w/ a new song… bummer, but still stoked about the rest of the release.

    • Brandon says:

I dont think the Huntingtons wanted to be on it. They said they had no new songs ready but when I asked several times about getting one of the newer songs off the last “Punk Sounds” release, I never got an answer. I am kind of bummed too because I really wanted Huntingtons on this. As far as Mxpx goes, Mike said the new song possibly wouldn’t be ready in time. I took off “new” song next to their name just in case we really don’t get a new song. I’ll use a “Left Coast Punk” track instead (which Mike said was okay).

  42. witzend says:

Can’t wait for this!! We are sooo excited. Our new song “I’ll be right there” is like crackling bacon in a pan. It smells sooo good but not quite crispy the way we like it. http://www.facebook.com/witzendrox

  43. Bearclaw Bradford says:

Eleventy! my favorite band of all time!!!

  44. Taylor says:

The new Eleventyseven song is amazing. I really like this new song… it’s certainly different than their “Eville” electrorock sound or even this summer’s playful “Quota”, but… I like it. Way excited for this compilation. :D

  45. Caleb Daniels says:

Hey Brandon have you heard the first (pre-Screaming Giant) TwoTimer cd? It was an indie release. Their original drummer was from my hometown so the local record store sold it in the local band section even though the rest of the band wasn’t from there. It’s a bit different from their 2nd release.

  46. Daniel says:

Will you able to download individual songs off this and the worship one, or do you have to download the whole compilation? Cause where I live, internet’s slow, and it’d take all day to download this thing!

    • Brandon says:

I don’t really want to do that because then a bunch of people will just pick and choose rather than getting the whole package so to speak. The purpose of these compilations is to expose people to new music and the best way to do that is making them get the entire thing.

  47. dylanJFFL says:

You should try to get a song from A White Flag on here

  48. Travis says:

That Alakrity song is soooooo catchy.

  49. Daniel says:

@Brandon: That makes sense, I see your point. Any idea how big this whole file is gonna be then to download?

  50. phiL says:

Hey Brandon… i noticed that you’re using a flatfoot 56 song from Black Thorn instead of a new song. you should see if they’ll let you use the song Distortions from the uk release of BT, since it’ll be new to most of us. Also, if MxPx doesn’t give you a new song, you should see if you can use The Setting Sun, since that song is pretty rare & absolutely awesome!

  51. dylanJFFL says:

I was going to say be careful, because a lot of stuff on sites like that are labeled MxPx when they aren’t… but The Setting Sun is undeniably MxPx

  52. BrandonP says:

November 1st needs to hurry up and get here!

  53. Jill says:

    SOOO excited!

  54. Brandon says:

    Tracklisting/Songs, updated above.

  55. phiL says:

Is Shakedown Boulevard still doing a Squad Five-0 cover??

  56. Jim says:

    Here’s a practice session from The Lonely Revolts . . .

  57. Jim says:

    Hi Brandon,

Not sure if my first post made it – I was inquiring if The Lonely Revolts (via Thumper Punk Records) would soon have a live link for their song on the “Punk Never Dies Vol. I”.
My apologies if my previous comment that contained the live link was inappropriate for this comment section of your website.
    Appreciatively,
    Jim

  58. Jim says:

    The Lonely Revolts in concert!
They were the opening band at The Stronghold in Chino, CA on October 22nd – hosted by Thumper Punk Records.

  59. Brandon says:

*Just received the new DOGWOOD song and I must say that it rules! RULES HARD! I could stream it here on IVM but I think I’ll just make you all wait until November 1st to get it ;)

If anyone is reading these comments and wants to download Punk Never Dies Vol. 1, just click this link here and you’ll find the 75 song compilation
    http://www.indievisionmusic.com/2011/10/31/punk-never-dies-vol-1/

  60. Jim says:

    Punk Download Mania!

    Many thanks!!

Nice touch – the 54th song is exactly 54 second long.

My iTunes will never be the same!! :-)
