Bless The Fall Are Not Christians Anymore, They Used To Be Back When They Had Craig Mabbitt Which He Is Now In Escape The Fate. Personally I Don’t See Why Bless The Fall Is Still On Here.

    • Derek Olsthoorn says:

ehhhh I wouldn’t say they aren’t christians anymore… they may not be gospel influenced and they may be using cursing and stuff like that, but who are we to say they are not christians. Many Christians deny that they are a Christian band. Just because Craig left doesn’t make them non Christians. A Christian band is composed of all Christian members. Not one Christian singer. Sure they may not be a Christian band per say, but I don’t know if they renounced their faith.

    • Brandon says:

I would like to read some interviews. Anybody got a link?

    • JoshIVM says:

      Kelly,

First, if you’re going to make a statement or accusation please back it up with an interview or statement from the band. Your opinion on the matter is not a valid source. Second, we have to keep in mind that someone saying they’re Christian doesn’t mean they really are. For all we know they could be mistaken, could be lying, or could just say that for marketing purposes. I would imagine I’d have some major theological differences with plenty of bands that we cover. There really is no way we can 100% cover “Christian” only bands, so we do our best.

Anyways, while I find it hard to determine who is “Christian” or not (we can only depend on what members say) in this interview, Beau (current vocalist) states that all the members are Christians. http://www.shotmonster.com/interviews/blessthefall.html

And I also found it funny that the reason they are dubbed “Christian” is because of Mabbitt.

    • JoshIVM says:

And I don’t even listen to this band but thought it would be best to bring some objectivity to the comments

    • Jake C says:

Maybe the album title “Awakening” is about a spiritual awakening? You never know. blessthefall walks the thin line between Christian and not, but more in the way of Jamie’s Elsewhere than We Came As Romans. And the music video for “Hey Baby…” was a parody (I think that’s how you spell that hahaha) of The Hangover and was meant to be funny. All I’m saying is that they never fully got rid of their faith and you can’t judge this album yet by how the last one was.

    • Brandon says:

Matt Traynor (drummer) has said that he isn’t a christian and doesn’t believe in God several times on his FormSpring account.

    • Jake C says:

That’s weird since everybody in the thanks for “Witness” thanked God or Jesus or something along those lines. And my favorite band right now (Oh, Sleeper) has a member that isn’t Christian but the band is. I would assume the singer writes the lyrics and if his faith is important to him, he’ll sing about it no matter what the rest of the band believes. If you want proof of that concept, check out the now-broken-up band Demise Of Eros. They weren’t a Christian band but the singer’s faith was important to him so he wrote about it. I think that blessthefall falls more along the lines of Oh, Sleeper than Demise Of Eros in that regard though. I honestly think (and i don’t mean to offend anyone by this) that people were too sensitive with the language thing, considering bands covered on here (*cough*After The Anthems*cough*) had language and no one seemed too mad. And I have never felt that their music wasn’t impacted by their religion, but what does it really matter? They sing about God (at times) and the music’s good.

    I guess I won’t say anything then. :)

this sideways hair thing is driving me crazy!

  4. thruchristalone777 says:

I never really got into these guys…

  5. Erik B. says:

I’m going to go out on a limb here and comment on the music…

Witness was a guilty pleasure of mine, not really unique, but it was well executed. This sounds like Witness on steroids as far as I can tell. The guitar riff is AILD-esque, definitely dig that. The breakdown is pretty fun too. Will be checking the cd out.

  6. silentthunder89 says:

I saw them at a show in Louisville, KY with As I Lay Dying, War of Ages and Demon Hunter (SICK show, btw!!). 2 songs into their set, the singer climbed the lights all the way to the ceiling and out over the crowd, then did 2 swings and jumped (from 2 stories up) straight into the crowd! The only problem was that because he was jumping from so high up and feet first, everyone in the crowd moved out of the way and he hit the floor! He ended up screwing up his leg and they had to end their set. It was kinda ironic since their name is “Bless-the-fall”! LOL

  7. Sam says:

I do like their music but…look, they say they’re all Christians and I’m no one to question it, but there’s a difference between being Christian and making Christian art. I’m content to brush off the possible curse word on “To Hell and Back”, but the video for “Hey Baby, Here’s That Song You Wanted” was really pushing it. Even back when they had Craig and they were openly Christian, some of their lyrics were a bit iffy (“A Message To The Unknown” and “Black Rose Dying” come to mind). And on this new song, you’ve got to wonder if some of the “wes” in the chorus shouldn’t be “Hes”. Again, I’m not questioning the members’ faith, and I appreciate the Christian lyrics they have written (“Rise Up” and “What’s Left Of Me” especially). However, judging purely by what they’ve put on record, I wonder if they really intended this stuff for the Christian market.

    • Smacky X says:

This is well put Sam- “there’s a difference between being Christian and making Christian art.” I’d also add that while we can’t comment on whether or not people are believers, the presence or lack of biblical discernment is often observable and sometimes undeniable. The video for “Hey Baby, Here’s that Song You wanted” flies in the face of that discernment. We are all sinners and flawed people, but their involvement in a project like that obviously was premeditated and came with discussion and agreement. If it’s not a deliberate attempt to distance themselves from the christian market it is at the very least a blatant compromising of biblical values.

    • JimmyT says:

Pretty funny video tho. Are they christian, not christian, christian’s in a band or just really bad christians? Whatever the case, their music isn’t that great imo

  8. iSkelly87 says:

We go over this with every cd. I thought it was
decided last time that IVM wasn’t going to cover this band anymore.

  9. Brandon says:

WE NEED FORUMS, period. We’re working on it.

  10. Sam says:

Oh, I wondered if that was just me. How are they coming by the way?

    • Brandon says:

It’s all up to our web designer, Fusse, when he has time to finish them. Hopefully soon. People really need a place to dive into deeper discussion and forums are the perfect place for that.

  11. taborrr says:

Eh, Witness was cool 2 years ago. And the new song sounds exactly the same as all their other ones. They also have some weird beef with TDWP.

    • John xPSx says:

Actually (IIRC) that was just a fan-misunderstanding/rumor. They wrote a song called “God wears Gucci” because they thought it was a funny play on words, not because they have anything against The Devil Wears Prada.

That and some disturbing “rumors” are the only thing I know about this band.

  12. XWriting on the WallsX says:

I have a BTF shirt and people say “nice shirt” to me fairly often.
They are pretty alright but nothing spectacular.

  13. Chandler A. says:

Regardless of their beliefs I do no not enjoy the b word thrown in the music I’m listening to :P
