Falling Up

Falling Up will release their incredible new album “Your Sparkling Death Cometh” on June 28th. This album takes you on a rollercoaster of emotions and is so difficult to just sum up into one word. If I were to describe this album with one simple descriptive word, “Epic” would suffice. You can’t walk into a listening session for this release with any preconceived notions of the band and their music. Listen with an open mind and only then will you truly enjoy this truly beautiful masterpiece of an album. I can’t possibly say enough good words about it nor could I hype it enough. One thing is for certain, this album will be near the top of my “best of” list come the end of the year. Not everyone is going to share my (Brandon) enthusiasm for this album, but Falling Up have simply put, restored my faith in popular music with “Your Sparkling Death Cometh”. Thank you guys. Everyone pick this album up on June 28th and support independent music!

Can’t wait for it!!!! I think the last album “Fangs” wasn’t much of a big hit. Hopefully they can change it around with this!!!

You just got me a lot more excited about this. If a good portion of the songs match up with “Blue Ghost” this will most certainly be on my best-of list.

oh yea! more inclusive for the elusive sound keeper’s files of codations and intertwining rhymes for shadow running and the light bearer’s way ;under a million stars there names falling into our eyes our eyes, for the song sung alive aloud in race we have run, towards the rising of this Morning Star, our hearts flame =)**

I’m looking forward to this release. Now even more because of Brandon’s comments and the review at JFH (yes, that JFH).

I was not a fan until Fangs… and this beats out Fangs by far! It is really ambient in some parts, but just an all in all great record!

This album is absolutely phenomenal. It was different than I thought it would be. I had really mixed feelings about “Fangs,” but “Your Sparkling Death Cometh” has some great strengths in the areas where “Fangs” was weak. The lyrics are still poetic and certainly not straight-forward, but unlike in “Fangs,” there are definite meanings that are present in the songs that can be interpreted as well. Also, the melodies are dramatically more accessible. “Fangs” really lacked songs that you could get stuck in your head and sing along to. YSDC is so much catchier, although that’s not to say it’s anything like generic pop/rock. It still has all of the atmosphere that made “Fangs” special, just it keeps the listener’s attention so much easier. Plus, the songs are all very distinguished. Each one has memorable lines and stands out from the rest in some specific way. I am really impressed with this album, and it is truly an experience.

This is by far one of the best indie (and all) albums I’ve heard this. I’d probably tie it up with Tim Be Told’s Humanity. My personal favorite is track 9, Forms and Shapes.

By the way, the album was just released on iTunes a few moments ago. You can download it here:

Guys, this record is incredible. I feel like Falling Up’s had so much potential all this time and have finally let it all out on this record. Hands down one of the best records of the year.. and am I the only one who thinks “Circadian” is one of the most epic songs ever?

I think I’ve listened to this a total of 9 times since I got it on Saturday umm…MY ALBUM OF THE YEAR 2011. I am a fangirl of anything Falling Up or Jessy Ribordy-man’s a musical/lyric genius (in my opinion) but that being said it is an amazing record the whole way through start to finish.

Make sure to get the bonus track: “Darkspeed”. Buy the cd from Bandcamp because you get 2 exclusives!

You really made this sound like this is def. something to pick up…
I would only consider myself a casual Falling Up fan, liking tracks such as “Hotel Aquarium” and “Searchlights” (not the remix, though…).
I’ll definitely consider grabbing this one…would it be worth grabbing for me, even though I’m only a casual fan?

      Dan,
My two cents is yes, you should definitely check it out. I am casual Falling Up fan myself. I only own Dawn Escapes, and liked a few songs off of their other albums, but never enough to justify a purchase. However, I have been pleasantly surprised after hearing the whole thing. It’s excellent IMO. I really like how Falling Up seems to mix catchy hooks with really well done artistic and indie leanings to give this album a best of both worlds feel.

I was surprised by how overwhelmingly it was reviewed positively, and across different sites like JFH and other more CCM type sites, as well as here; after listening to it, I can understand the hype. I really enjoy the album.

Thanks for the reply…I’ll def. be picking it up in the next few days…given where I can get it, that is (I’m guessing its not on iTunes?).

    • Joe M says:

      Dan,
It looks like iTunes has it for $9.90,
fallinguplives.com has the physical for $9.99, and
fallingup.bandcamp.com has the digital (with 2 or 3 bonus tracks) for $10.

(Thanks guys who commented on my other post to help me find all this info)

Does anybody know if/when this is coming to AmazonMP3?

I listened to youtube videos and am SUPER-impressed. This album is incredible. If it’s not going to Amazon, I’ll just buy a physical, but I wanted to check if anybody knew.

Hey Joe, I am in the exact same boat as you. I am more of a casual Falling Up listener myself and not a hardcore fan. I have an album or two of theirs in my collection but I don’t own every single one. I listened to “Fangs” a few times, but it wore out it’s welcome. This album however I listened to as a stand alone piece of music, not necessarily as “Falling Up” music, but as an album comprised of individually epic songs that when combined as a whole, made up a complete and utterly fantastic collection of work that I could listen to quite possibly for many months to come. The song structures are more complex, the singing is more emphasized, the building guitars more amplified, and everything just works together in a more fluid fashion compared to on “Fangs”. I just hope that Eric P. shares my enthusiasm when he writes his review (he’s the one doing it) for IVM, but if he doesn’t that’s okay too, we all have different tastes and backgrounds. You just have to drop all preconceived notions about the band and remove from your head the years of past marketing that might have clouded your judgment and then listen with an open mind.

The only place I’ve found it is the band’s website – http://www.fallinguplives.com/

    • Maktesh says:

They’ve said via Facebook that Amazon was supposed to have it up this morning, but they’re either just being slow or something’s wrong. I’m sure it’ll be up soon, though.

If you want the digital, you can download it from their BandCamp page:
      http://fallingup.bandcamp.com/

      It’s also on iTunes now.

    • KeithX says:

Yeah, I should have said that only place I found the CD so far.

    • Joe M says:

Thanks for the replies guys. I’ll probably pick it up on the bandcamp for the bonus tracks. Thanks for the heads up!
