So so so so so EXCITED about this!!!!
Wow, seriously? – 10 scene/ cool points 4 u skely, lol. Die glam-cor die!!
I’m curious why the itunes review for their album is so harsh on it haha. I personally really enjoy this band. Excited to see what they in store for us.
About freaking time.
And is it just me, or does their new photo shoot picture remind you of The Road Warrior movie? (A very good thing, if you ask me.)
AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Holy post-apocalyptic!
I’ve thought this band was a love-it-or-hate-it type but I think they are aiming at a more distinctly 80′s anthem rock sound this time. As of right now – just like Rocky Loves Emily and The Letter Black – they are more known for their look than for their music.
They are funny guys, but it is amazing to think that this label – ten years ago – had Calibretto 13, Huntingtons, Ghoti Hook, Squad Five-O, and Supertones. Try not to drink after reading that.
Wait wait wait… you mean the “Li die dee die, die dee die die dee die die die…. die, die DIEEEEEEEE…” Calibretto 13? they were on Tooth&Nail? weird…
And while agree with you about the newer bands being known for their “look” (all the new photos seem to have the same kind of band-in-the-foreground-with-atmospheric-weather-in-the-background setting) I find that some of the music T&N releases from a band I was starting to like just doesn’t sound as good as their previous independent releases. I don’t think it has anything to do with the sound quality, just some don’t seem to carry the passion the band had already made.
More KNOWN for their look, but they are freaking amazing musicians! And as for what this label once was…. Sainthood Reps my friend, Sainthood Reps!
Label once was when? 1993-1999 2000-2010 2011+ ? I’m lost. Almost 20 years of releases man. I think the label has always been pretty consistent in putting out quality releases. With every couple of “throwaway” albums there are some true gems. This is true of almost every label on the planet.
I wasn’t saying this label is a has been Brandon… I was actually defending it! Apologies if you weren’t talking to me!
Well, it’s all about taste.
I’ve bought a few FF5 songs, a few Anberlin songs, a few Project 86 songs, a few ABR songs, but I’ve tried to listen to every T&N and Solid State album in their entirety.
Honestly, Living Sacrifice’s “The Infinite Order” is the only album in the last four years off Tooth and Nail or Solid State that I can wholeheartedly recommend. I bought The Showdown’s “Backbreaker” and never listen to it anymore.
Believe it or not, I actually want to hear all of Rocky Loves Emily because I’ve been pumping that song on the free compilation.
The Tooth & Nail albums I’m referring to – “Plastic Surgery”, “Adventures In Tokyo”, “Bombs Over Broadway”, “More To See”, “Chase The Sun” – are classics. There are no bad tracks on any of those albums and there is such an exuberance and such a fun vibe.
Compare that to the vibe of the latest Fair, Classic Crime and Anberlin albums (and – even though I have knocked the devolution of the now dreary Anberlin’s sound – “Dark Is The Way, Light Rock Is The Place” is BY FAR the best of those three albums, though still something I’ll never purchase). I’m just saying. Look down their roster. If you are going to go on a fun, sugar-fueled summer road trip, are you going to pop in some Supertones and Undecided or the Sainthood Reps?
Not to sound mean but – in my opinion – Facedown put out as many new albums I’d recommend in 2010 – Plea, Call, Messengers – than Tooth and Nail has put out in the last eight years (two Living Sacrifice albums and a “best of”).
I enjoy having these debates but I seriously wish those bands from 2002 would reunite and get resigned by Tooth & Nail and that they’d bring back Huntingtons.
These guys seem pretty good. I’m looking forward to hearing more from them.
So did they change their name to Blessed now? Or is it still Blessed By A Broken Heart?
No, it’s still Blessed by a Broken Heart. I was confused by the post too. I went to T&N and it’s the whole name.
Okay, thanx.
I think they like to be referred to as Blessed now. They even said “Hey what’s up? We’re Blessed…” at the start of the video. They’ve asked their fans about changing their name to just Blessed in the past, but I’ve never heard them make it official or anything. So, I just put both up there. Sorry for any confusion.
Wow, there are two new T&N signings (the other is Sainthood Reps) that I am actually excited about now. These guys are such a fun band. Congrats to BBABH!
This!
ATP: What is planned next for Sainthood Reps?
Derrick: We will be honing our Bocce ball skills this summer. This is an open challenge to any band out there. 2 vs 2.
New favorite band?
New favorite band.
That’s Derrick from Sainthood Reps BTW. Idk if that was clear in my post.
Blessed is just a nickname. They also go by BBABH
There newer stuff don’t sound too bad at all either. Ever since they have been adding real drums with drum machine its been sound a lot better. Kiddos!!!
Great signing for T&N!!!!!
oh man i was listening to Calibretto13 last nite. in other news im very excited to hear this news. maybe well finally see a new album
Wooooooow!!!! I really don’t know how I feel about this…
IMO, it’s a great signing for tooth and nail, but I just really hope the label doesn’t do much fiddling with the band’s sound to make them more “radio friendly.” Idk, maybe I’m just being too hard on the label…
I guess I should’ve watched the video before I posted lol. DEFINITELY doesn’t sound watered down!! XD
THIS MAKES MY DAY! I was kinda wondering how they were doing if they were still leaning to the christian society…this makes it true that they are!!!!!!!!!!!! CAN NOT WAIT FOR THE CD!!!
I’m pretty surprised SolidState didn’t get them. Great signing for T&N and great choice for the band as well!!
Reminds me of another Family Force 5….
Personality-wise, I’d say you’re not far off. However, music-wise they couldn’t be any further apart.
I think that BBABH sounds like they are a hardcore FF5
Not even close…
I hate to be that one negative person but I am a bit skeptical. I thought it was fine when they were on Century Media because I thought of them as just another general market rock band. I was told some unsettling stuff by someone in the industry a while back that makes me a little uneasy about them. I’ve followed them since they were on Blood & Ink and have listened to all the stylistic changes over the years. I am hoping the drum machine sound is gone now? Anyway people can change and maybe they were just immature when the stuff went down. I’ll still listen to this new album when it comes out.
I have Skype chatted with them before, and they did say some sketchy stuff, but other than that, I still think they are a great band
Drum machine is gone BTW. I am friends with Matt Kirk (who was their singer for a while… did the original Don’t Stop and Side by Side) and he keeps somewhat contact with the bassist and let him hear a few of the songs… he assured me it’s less “machine” like and more “real” haha!
I agree with Brandon. I’ve heard some sketchy stuff about the band as well.
Whatever sketchy stuff you have heard about the band T&N is even more sketchy…that label can ruin bands, just talk to any band who has released more than 2 records on them (if they are still around). Just hope they don’t blow it/kill BBABH…
What a fantastic addition to the label. Their sound reminds me of ’80s Bon Jovi mixed with today’s metal/hardcore. It practically works.
I’d appreciate it if people would actually go into more detail on the sketchy stuff and the source thereof :P Worst case scenario it starts a rumor (too late :P ), best case scenario the band themselves will feel the need to be upfront about whatever it is they did and/or we find the source and discern weather or not it was credible in the first place.
I don’t want to start a war, but guys I don’t think we should even bring up stuff we heard from “industry people”. It’s just gossip and the music industry doesn’t need it.
If you weren’t surprised by Paramore making mistakes then don’t be surprised when a so-called “Christian” band slips up behind the scenes as well. I didn’t start gossip for the mere sake of gossiping or discrediting the band or even our website. I just have a genuine concern because of some stuff I was told by someone I trust. I still bought the bands last album and have followed them for a few years. Like I said above, people can change over the years and things done in immaturity are usually regretted later. Anyway what’s in the past is in the past and all we can really do is look to the future right?
You know what, instead of carrying out this “gossip” that some of us have started, why don’t we just let it die. Just concentrate on the music and pretend nothing was said. Most of you are fans so don’t let it stop you from enjoying the music.
Excited about this. There was great playing and singing on the last album. Hopefully the songs will be more mature this time around. James Paul Wisner is producing, so the album is sure to sound great…and there will def be some radio friendly stuff.
i hope aaron sprinkle wont touch this album.
Amen to that.
Considering it’s complete, that’s basically impossible!
Wait a minute, what’s wrong with Aaron Sprinkle? (I don’t follow producers much.)
i’m not sure if you’re legally allowed to listen to this music unless you own a 1980′s thunderbird, can we get some legal advice on this situation?
According to the picture, they’ve upped their requirement from a 1908′s Thunderbird to a post-apocalyptic 1980′s Thunderbird. What say you?
Never cared for the 80′s metal sound much. Still don’t really.
it wasn’t a drum machine, it was electric drums, dudez!
Awesome! Love this band’s style (yeah, I’m a sucker for 80′s music). I’m curious, though, as to why Tooth & Nail and not Solid State. BBABH is more on the metal side of things. Not that being on Tooth&Nail is bad, they are owned by the same people anyway. Just figured Solid State would be more fitting for a band like BBABH.
They’re still a good band, and I still dig their music. Just not as much as I did back in the “All Is Fair In Love And War” days.
