Red Cord Records is excited to announce the recent signing of Los Angeles’ metalcore band Phinehas (FEHN-ee-uhs). Above the ashes of a dry and thirsty scene, where towers of pride rise and fall, stands Phinehas. Formed in 2001 on the outskirts of Los Angeles, Phinehas is a band of Christians with the purpose of being a shining light amidst a dark scene. They recognize that a message is only perceived as good as the messenger, so music quality holds an equally important role in their ministry. What initially began as a thrashy hardcore band has flourished into a brand of metal that not many can emulate.
As with many bands, a few member changes were inevitable as touring life is not cut out for everyone; but through every transition, Phinehas has never lost momentum. Their intense and passionate live show is a hit everywhere. Largely influenced by the music of bands like As I Lay Dying, Killswitch Engage and Van Halen, Phinehas is a band who loves fast beats and guitar solos while never forgetting their roots by weaving in powerful breakdowns.
Following the release of their self-titled, self-produced EP, Phinehas toured throughout the West Coast and out to Cornerstone, growing a loyal fan base with their impressive live show. Through their endless work ethic, they sold out of their EP in a very short time. Through Phinehas never-ending assault, they gained acclaim in the strong music scene, which has brought recognition in publications such as Hails & Horns and Indie Vision Music.
Now, having signed with indie label Red Cord Records, Phinehas is preparing to release their first full-length album, entitled thegodmachine on June 7, 2011. The band is set for an extensive North American touring schedule in support of their new record. thegodmachine will be packed full of aggressive songs to the tone of “I Am the Lion”. Phinehas will also slow it down a bit in a few tunes that are rhythmic and dissonant. This, along with the signature solos, riffs, breakdowns and double bass is certain to make the album extremely dynamic. The concept of the songs arc into a story about how humans always make gods for themselves (godmachines) in petty things and allow these things to grow and destroy their lives, but God is faithful even when we are not. His true love is there throughout and there to redeem us when we turn back to Him.
Phinehas is:
Sean McCulloch – Vocals
Ryan Estrada – Bass
Lee Humerian – Drums
Jason Combs – Guitar
Dustin Saunders – Guitar

Stoked, but I feel they could have gotten a better label… but who cares, THEY ARE SIGNED! Congrats guys.
What’s wrong with Red Cord? They have some pretty freaking solid bands.
I think when he said “better” he meant bigger or more mainstream like solid state or facedown. DEFINITELY nothing wrong with Red Chord. I feel like they are a strong up and coming label that’s really starting to gain some momentum!
^This
no “scenester” cover either
Exactly what Silent said! I feel that they could do great on Facedown!
HAHAHAHA, RIGHT YOU ARE STEVE!!!!
And in my honest opinion, Red Cord will never become “big” like facedown. I am not going to explain why, but come back on hear and tell me I am wrong in 5 years… you will see. They are what I call a transition label, like CI records. They pave the way for bigger, and yes, better labels to sign them.
Ahhhhhhh! Yes!
The beardman-tree is weird, but I’ll still check this out. Never heard of Red Chord.
This might be Red Chord’s biggest signing yet??
true dat^
Cool. Its good 2 c that these guys r stil 2getha+ persevered ova the years.
sho Is phil!
I keep forgetting about this band and how awesome they are. glad they got signed!!
Their name always makes me think of Disney
Haha Phineas and Ferb. Probably the only DC show I don’t mind my little sister watching.
Love this band but I liked the ep cover better. Looking forward to the album
In the Bible, I believe Phinehas was the grandson of Aaron who killed the Midianite and the Israelite who were defying God by getting together. This stopped a plague of God’s and He was pleased that Phinehas’ jealousy was similar to God’s. This is in Numbers 2
I am surprised nobody has mentioned how completely nasty the clip of music is on this preview.

Yes the video is good.
I didn’t listen to it because I assumed it was just a clip of Grace Disguised by Darkness or another I had already heard.
I was wrong, and it was sick.
As for Facedown being a big label, the most popular Facedown release was by Comeback Kid (Take It Back) and they left to join a label run by someone notoriously stingy with money (Tony Bruno of Victory).
*The links in this post are dead, fyi.
Fixed.
thanks for fixing Josh
So glad they got signed! It’s about freakin time!!!! I can’t wait for the new album and it’s 13 songs, it’s so going to be worth the wait!
