Meaning Behind The Song

The song “Liars” is the title track for or latest album, and is the pinnacle of despair for the person(s) in our “story”. It’s the sudden realization that the hopes and dreams this character had are not a reality any more. So many times, we’ve heard people say “just give it some time” or “things will just get better on their own” and in the midst of our worst circumstances, which in this case is the finality of a divorce, those words just aren’t enough. We need something more than the words of a “therapist” to help us through tragedies in our lives. It’s definitely a dark song from a dark album, but it’s real and it’s a feeling that we all face sometime in our lives. I grew up in a church where it wasn’t okay to admit you had problems or fears and that God would just provide us with a perfect life, and if we had issues, we were doing something wrong. I’ve realized that’s not reality, and it’s a shame people live with that unhealthy perspective. Then when things go wrong, where do they turn if their God has let them down? I believe God allows us to experience pain in our imperfect bodies on an imperfect earth so that we actually need him.
