In 2003, one of the great indie rock bands, released “Farewell to the Familiar” on Tooth and Nail Records. Prior to that, they released an independent ep and appeared on I’m Your Biggest Fan Vol. 2, a compilation I worked on and created in 2002. Slow Coming Day were a band until 2006. They were a great band and I had the opportunity of not only seeing them several times around Orange County, but also booking them at a few different occasions. They were an extrememly underated band and they deserved more promotion than what they got. Lead singer/guitarist Orion Walsh, has gone on to do a solo career which you can check out here.
They released one final ep in that year (2006) called “Speak Now or Forever Hold Your Peace” which has been unavailable “officially” online until now. Check out the free download of this ep, below.

Slow Coming Day was an indie rock band based out of Southern California. The group released it’s first independent EP “A Part of Me Died” EP in 2002, followed by a full length “Farewell to the Familiar” on Tooth and Nail Records in 2003. The group toured with many great bands such as Mae, Copeland, Emery, The Working Title, Spitalfield, Action Action, As Tall As Lions, Gatsby’s American Dream, Waking Ashland, Mewithoutyou, Anberlin, Brandtson, and Watashi Wa just to name a few. In 2005 the band released an independent EP entitled “Police and Paramedics” which was only sold at shows. Then right before officially breaking up in 2006 Slow Coming Day released a final EP “Speak Now or Forever Hold Your Peace”. [myspace]

Awesome! Thanks, man. I was sad when they dissolved, so it’s great to have this rare EP to add to the collection.
I never put two and two together and realised that Orion Walsh was the lead singer of Slow Coming Day.
‘Captivated’ was always a beautiful song.
How did you pull off this little scoop? Thanks!
Orion sent me the songs and asked if I would put them on IVM. I really liked this band so I had no problem putting them on the site.
Doesn’t sound like SCD at all to me, but I like it!
