Mae Afternoon Coming March 30th

Mae has new songs up on myspace from their upcoming “(a)fternoon” album which comes out March 30th on Cell Records (tooth and nail). So did any of you pick up (m)orning? I didn’t and I was curious if it was any good.

yeah (m)orning was a good really good. i enjoyed it. it’s 8 songs The Fisherman Song is the gem of that EP. the whole thing is a different style while still sounding like Mae. there’s a song called Two Birds, that’s all instrumental and puts you in this like happy sunny sort of mood. all in all, it’s a really good EP. the Fisherman Song alone is reason enough to give it a listen. that song’s about 9 minutes and the next one is about 7. it’s like they focused more on creating an album as a whole then song by song, which i like.

Yeah, (m)orning was definitely a long ep. Each song was at least 4 minutes or more. Fisherman Song was amazing and like aledxndr said its what made this ep although there were some other really good songs as well. (a)fternoon I have but haven’t really listened to it as much as the (m)orning ep.

(m)orning is incredible. it was a breath of fresh air after singularity, which wasn’t.

Already own (a)fternoon from the Mae store. What I really want to know is when (e)vening will be ready to rock? This trilogy idea is a great adaption from movie to music. Mae has got me hooked, not that I wasn’t already.

Mae is incredible and getting better all the time. The new songs are the best work they’ve done.

Cell Records is part of Tooth & Nail? Is that new? And is there a link to there website. I googled the name, but didn’t get the right results.

I’m pretty sure Cell Records is Mae’s “record label” that produced both the (m)orning and (a)fternoon discs in their store. But don’t quote me on that. Just the impression I’m under.

Matt you are right. Cell is Mae! And their is a 3rd part to this trilogy to complete it. I bought (m)orning the day it came out, but didn’t get into it until today for some reason. It is a wonderfully crafted album that deserves attention!

In 2009, they were releasing a song a month and making them available for download if you donated at least $1 to whichever charity they were supporting at the time. So I already have 4 songs from each ep. It looks like they added more songs onto each ep though, so I’m gonna have to pick up the hard copies. Mae’s a great band. Their new stuff seems to be going back toward their Destination: Beautiful roots (which was their best work). I do think Singularity gets a bit of a bad rap from fans.
