Switchfoot Makes Vice Verses A Double Album?

Now for those of you who follow Switchfoot pretty close this isnt new to you but for those of you who dont in recent interviews the bands frontman Jon Foreman has been saying “Vice Verses” might be a double album! Heres clip of an interview where Jon tells us a lil bit about Vice Verses

Lj: Any particular direction you’re heading toward after Hello Hurricane?
JF. I think the next CD is gonna be quite different. We’ve been talking around an idea of a double album. The next album is called Vice Verses, and i think its our chance to show off even more diversity than Hello Hurricane.

What do you guys think of Switchfoot putting out a double album. And let us not forget “Eastern Hymns for the Western Shore” still has to come out.

  1. I’m so stoked for this. Honestly, from what they’ve said about VV I think it may be more up my alley than HH was. I also believe they entirely have the ability to put out a fantastic double album. If they do it right it could be huge. I just hope they stay away from the ‘one disc is heavy, the other is soft’ format because that always fails on double albums.

    Ive heard in an interview somewhere that SF might be pulling together a small set of songs to be titled”Goodbye Hurricane” that will close off that chapter for the band.

    Also there is a song on a benefit Haiti list put out by Paste Magazine that will be on the”Eastern Hymns for Western Shore”. Its a really good track and very experimental…..kinda reminds me of the Beatles.

    @Ian, yeah I think they will either release a send-off to HH or merge it in and make VV a double album… either way, I’m stoked!

  7. Given how much of a triumph Hello Hurricane was, the idea of a double album of that same musical philosophy just sounds like genius in the making. Switchfoot keeps raising the bar on themselves, and a double album sounds like a next logical step. I say go for it!

    Not into them anymore…. they just don’t hold my interest like they used to(the fact that I like mainly harder stuff only played a small role in this). I guess you could say I grew tired of them. I haven’t paid much attention to them since Nothing is Sound. Every song I heard since then, with the exception of one I think, just didn’t interest me. If they do something different, I might actually be interested in this.

      I think the fact Jon’s go on to do a lot of solo work after Nothing is Sound is a large part of this.
      Check out his Seasons Eps.

    more diversity from switchfoot generally means they have a few good songs and a bunch of songs that sound awful because they wanted to experiment. its like theyve just abandoned any idea of making an album sound whole and complete

  15. We were at the Switchfoot show in Atlanta this past weekend on saturday and he said from the stage that it WILL be a double album, but it’s not new music. They did a show in Atlanta a couple of years ago at a venue called center Stage and they said that they are including the live concert of that show with the Vice Verses album. While this is in quotes, it’s not the exact verbiage, but he said;

    “Atlanta, we have a very special relationship and we love coming here. Two shows ago we played at center Stage here in Atlanta and it was an amazing show. It was so amazing that we have decided to include that show as a bonus CD with the Vice Verses CD, so we hope you pick it up and relive that incredible concert.”

    So, yes, it will be a double CD, but it’s a recording of a live show they did in Atlanta according to Jon. I actually captured that audio on my phone, so I have proof that’s what he said.
