Flatfoot 56′s label was nice enough to give me the download of this fine album by punk rockers Flatfoot 56 and I have spinned it twice all the way through so far. Such a fine release by a band that can proudly wear the “Punk Rock” tag without coming off as emo crybabies. I give “Black Thorn” a solid 9 out of 10 skulls and I strongly recommend this release to anyone that’s fan of gritty yet melodic punk rock with a hint of the Irish. If you’re a fan of bands like Street Dogs, Dropkick Murphys, Bouncing Souls, or even Rancid, you’ll find something to like about this release. Stream the album here. “Black Thorn” hits stores and online March 30th through Old Shoe Records.

The album is amazing
I know these dudes are talented but I have never been able to get into their music
Steve if you ever go to one of their lives shows, especially the shows that they put on at Cornerstone, they are epic lol. The one that I went to last year at Cornerstone was probably the most fun I have ever had at a show.
If you have the time, look up videos of their Cstone ’09 on Youtube. There is one where the tent almost comes down on us lol. And I think that they have a video of it on their website.
I will check it out
Just found out that tonight’s show with Project is streaming here http://webcast.therave.com/
I checked out the web-cast and caught part of the Project 86 performance. The web-cast quality was pretty good. Multiple cameras and had good sound through my laptop speakers. You have to register though.
Tell me what you think of the videos when you watch them Steve
The battle of the Alamo. Funny stuff. Would have loved to been there.
Oi! Punk would more adequatly describe their sound. Punk Rock is like MxPx and Flatfoot 56 sure doesn’t sound like MxPx.
This album sounds amazing ! They have recorded it more than 6 months ago and it’s about time it hits the streets.
yes, let’s totalllly argue over which type of punk music different bands are!
I can see it now…as if millions of voices suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced
Well it is important: you don’t attract the same kind of listeners depending on the style, especially when punk rock is the more radio friendly of them. But my comment wasn’t written to ignite any kind of animosity or strange debate over what kind of blend of punk different bands are playing, i find that kind of … useless ? :/
i was jk cus there are people round these parts who DO love endless debates ;)
Love these guys! Awesome live show! and really nice dudes!!! 1 April I will see them again here in Holland!! The new cd is also NICE!!!
Ok Tyler, sorry about that!
