FF5 has posted “Topsy Turvy” to their myspace which is on the Hot Topic extended version of Almost Alice. Is anyone going to see the new Alice In Wonderland?

Goin to see the movie for sure. As for new family force 5…the downhill trend continues…
I don’t hate it, but when did FF5 turn into David Archuleta? haha
ummmm what is this? Justin Bieber?
really not very impressed with this song
loved it, an excellent song.
Not interested in the movie, I don’t really care for Tim Burton stuff. As for the song, it sounds like FF5 is attempting to recreate City On Our Knees by TobyMac. I have no interest in either of those songs. I miss old FF5, before they started to fall into that crappy dance stuff.
Haven’t listened to this song yet but I’m definitely pumped about the film. I’ll be seeing it in IMAX whenever I get free time (and a babysitter).
I’ll probably check out the movie, but the whole soundtrack is just atrocious.
i haven’t listened to this…but i also would like to compare it to some other song that i’ve heard by some artist that i don’t care much for so as to downgrade who they are and what they have done. i am a downer.
Actually, Toby Mac ripped off Onerepublic’s “Apologize”‘s sparse production and dreamy synths. This Family Force 5 song mimics the production and the vocals almost to a T. Of the three songs, the Family Force 5 song is the only one I kinda like because it’s so cheesy.
Definitely I don’t care about Jhonny Depp or Tim Burton. I don’t care about FF5 anymore either.
haha, nice Tyler. The soundtrack is actually pretty good, and this song isn’t bad.
You must be mistaken, any soundtrack with 3OH!3, Metro Station, Avril Lavigne, and All Time Low automatically enters the realm of poorly thought out soundtracks. Not to mention Owl City, Plain White T’s, and All-American Rejects are all on it as well, artists not exactly known for their creativity or talent. I totally understand why the people chose all these artists, they’re trying to appeal to a broader demographic than just the people who like Tim Burton stuff. Smart business move I guess
Because we all know that any soundtrack with 3OH!3m Metro Station, Avril Lavigne and All Time Low automatcially enters the realm of poorly thought out soundtracks. Have you actually listened to the soundtrack, or are you merely assuming, based on the artists that you see listed on it? You know what happens when you assume. With the exception of Avril (not because she’s a pop artist, but because I feel her song wasn’t very good), from what I’ve heard, each of the artists on there made some pretty nice songs. I’ll definitely be picking up the deluxe copy that includes Family Force 5′s song.
Actually, I’ve listened to some of the previews on the website. Sounded like majorly watered down versions of the artists songs.
Well good for you, it’s people like you that keep those artists popular.
You took the words right out of my mouth. It is too bad that some people have such a bad taste when it comes to music.
Tastes are unique, some of the easiest music to write (Cars, eleventyseven) can still sound awesome, not defending Metro or AAR because I hate them. If someone is forcing you to listen to “bad” music, you can reach a compromise with them and try to get them to listen to “good” music. That said, I am all over this site stating opinion as fact.
What happened to Family Force 5? Topsy Turvy is awful.
OH MY GOODNESS I HATE POP MUSIC HOW DARE THEY NOT HAVE HARDCORE BANDS ON THEIR SOUNDTRACK AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!
oh, wait, I’m Tyler H. i think pop punk is dope.
I actually don’t listen to much hardcore or metal anymore, I just prefer music that isn’t shallow, generic, and/or poorly written. But hey, thanks for stereotyping me based on my opinion.
As a song, it’s not bad. As a FF5 song, it’s horrible. HA. I guess we all expect more from them. Then again, this IS a song for a Disney film. I don’t think it speaks into the direction of the band that much. Maybe more will discover the awesomeness of FF5 through this track.
But yeah, it does sound like Justin B. Oh well.
Yeah. This soundtrack does look terrible. Only good artists I see on the whole tracklisting are Mark Hoppus & Pete Wentz and Motion City Soundtrack.
^^^I used to be that way. I used to not listen to certain pop artists because it was “uncool” among my music elitist crowd and cool to hate them. Then I grew up, experienced life, and realized that catchy music is catchy music, and there’s nothing wrong with enjoying it. If I like a song and it’s catchy, I’m going to enjoy it and bang it loudly in my car no matter if it’s All American Rejects, 50 Cent, U2, Kings of Leon, FF5, or Lady Gaga. There comes a point in time where you have to learn to just enjoy music for what it is. I’m really tired of posting on these sites (i have nothing against the sites themselves) and seeing people put down artists strictly because of the genre they’re in, or because they’re popular. Sure, because an artist (AAR, Shinedown) is popular you automatically have to hate them, and it’s instantly uncool to listen to them. Among this crowd the cool things to listen to would be Thrice, Animal Collective and Empire of the Sun. There’s nothing wrong with listening to Alternative music (heck, i love me some Beach House), but when you begin to ostracize pop artists or write them off BECAUSE they are pop (or hip hop, or any other genre you despise), you are putting yourself in a box and I say grow the hell up and acquire some musical tastes for yourself, instead of trying to look cool on the internet.
Not everything has to be “deep” or “bring something new to the table”. If a band (like Demon Hunter or Living Sacrifice) sticks to their same formula with every album, they get accused of not switching it up. Perhaps their fans enjoy them for the style that got them popular in the first place? Then, if a band changed their style (FF5 anyone?) they get criticized for not staying true to their “original” formula. Perhaps they outgrew the style as a band and wanted to try other things?
Just grow the hell up.
Couldn’t tell if that was to me or Tyler H…
Hahaha you lumped U2 in with all those artists. lolz U2 is light years ahead of all those artists. I don’t give a crap about what is cool and what isn’t, I don’t like those bands or this song because it’s boring, generic, poorly written, unoriginal, and shallow.
See, the thing is that I agree that not everything has to be deep or brand new. However, the bands on this soundtrack are almost all generic, shallow bands that are popular because they get a workout on top 40 radio.
Some bands, such as Demon Hunter and FF5, are good at one main thing and shouldn’t try to branch out because when they do branch out, it’s even more generic than the previous stuff.
Yeah, it might be “cool” to listen to Thrice. Why? Because they’re a talented band that consistently puts out great, original music and they don’t care about topping the charts or being the most popular band out there, they care about making music they want to make. That’s the problem with most top 40 artists, they make music for the money and the fame rather than making it as a passionate endeavor for their creativity and talent to be showcased.
I agree. Just enjoy music. Not everything needs to be catchy, not everything needs be technical. If you like it…like it. Too many people are afraid to listen to certain bands or genres because they are uncool or whatever. I love me some Justin Timberlake, Lionel Richie, and Family Force 5 fan, but I’m a major metal head. Go figure.
I agree about just listening to what you like. I just listen to each artist I stumble across and I end up liking a fairly wide range of styles. If you like hardcore you’ll find tons of good stuff here…..even some good indie rock(what do these lables mean anymore..). My current favs are: http://www.myspace.com/shapesstarsmake http://www.myspace.com/paperrings http://www.myspace.com/deasvail If you don’t like it fine, don’t listen to it.
And so goes another discussion about a band that has changed it’s style, lost some fans, but remained popular (even popular enough to get on a soundtrack). Let’s switch things up and talk about similar bands who have done this:
-Emery
-Showbread
-Falling Up
Any others? =)
I’ve enjoyed every Emery and Showbread release. Same with As Cities Burn and Bradley Hathaway (both have changed styles considerably).
I haven’t enjoyed every FF5 release however.
Norma Jean would be another band. Enjoyed the first three CDs (four if you include Luti-Kriss) but couldn’t get into the Anti-Mother.
Other bands?
Like them or not, Pillar and P.O.D. both fit into this category.
Just because a band is on the Top 40 doesn’t mean they are in music to make money. I’m not saying that a lot of them aren’t in in to make money, because quite a few are, but not everyone is. And I think it’s good for artists to try different sounds if they want to. That being said, I don’t particularly care for this as a FF5 song. And I didn’t really like the “Dance or Die” album at first but after seeing FF5 live several times since it’s release, it has grown on me.
