According to their MySpace, Falling Up have officially announced their breakup. you can read here:
I have gotten quite a bit of email in the last six months of questions regarding the future of Falling Up. And rightly so, for we have been extremely seldom with our updates and news. So I figured I owe it to all of you, and myself, to clear things up.After touring extensively since we were 19 and 20 year olds, the lot of us have diverged into other areas in our lives and drifted away from the group known as Falling Up. In other, more simpler words, we are taking a permanent break. I hate using the word “breaking up” cause that always reminds me of my high school prom night! ( kidding ). Actually, if I can remember correctly, my prom date was a rad girl and I had a lot of fun getting down on the dance floor to “Baby’s Got Back” and slow dancing to the Armageddon theme song “Don’t Wan’t to Miss a Thing”. Sorry, I’m getting off track.
It’s been a good journey and thank you so much for your continued support throughout the years. We look forward to all of you finding us in our other projects and aspirations in life. Love all of you and God Bless. Jessy Ribordy
P.S. If you are in New Zealand next week, come check us out at our last show. Parachute 2010 Baby, the best place to celebrate!!!.

ehh
About time.
That’s too bad. I just finally got caught up on buying their albums. I was looking forward to more in the future. Oh well. Hope they do well in their future projects.
Another sad day in music. Even though I still haven’t gotten completely into their latest album, this is still a bummer.
Saw this coming around 2 albums ago…
Their first two albums were great.
I hope they don’t all form other bands. That’s just annoying.
not a fan of Fangs. they lost all of their energy
all of them forming other bands? no
jessy making his own music? yes please
Captiva and Fangs! were their best albums, so as long as they continue to make music I see no reason why the good music should have to stop. They changed so much since the beginning, it’s understandable why they’d put “Falling Up” to rest.
i agree, i loved both albums
Captiva was an amazing album, Fangs was for sure a step back but still had a few good songs. I was really hoping that in their next album, they would reach their full potential, but i guess that’s not gonna happen now =[
This was a longgggg time coming. I gave up around time the whole original line up quit.
Loved this band and all of their cds…..at least Jessy and Josh are in The River Empires, I’m excited for this bands debut album on April 9th!
good info keep it coming
Don’t forget The Gloomcacther, the companion project to The River Empires…
Sad face :(
Found out about this earlier in the day. A total bummer. Really enjoyed their stuff. Captiva was my favorite though.
Awwwwwwwwwwwww :’(((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((9
I agree with Blake on this one
Pretty pleased that I will be at Parachute then, get to see there last show!
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Ya… I liked the good ol days with the first line up but they were great to the end, in my opinion. Am I the only one who loves Crashings and Dawn Escapes, this is sad.
I still listen to Crashings
That’s actually just about all I liked. The remix album and beyond I really didn’t care for, although Captiva had its moments.
It’s good for a band to change things up. I think people would start complaining if a band kept making the same album over and over again. Captiva and Fangs! showed a lot of growth in their musical talent. Also, if Fangs! were ever translated into a movie, I would get in line to check it out. Mostly because I don’t totally understand it now.
so what about the rest of the story to fangs? there just stopping??? wow that sucks
Yeah, I was pretty bummed about that too…I guess I can make up my own ending!
i guess people like youth group rock as opposed to intelligent indie rock. last 2 falling up albums a million times better than the TFK-generic rock they used to play
please dont compare anything from falling up with TFK, thats shame
and by that i mean: Falling Up>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>tfk
havent heard the term “youth group rock” in like a year…didnt really miss its pretentiousness…oh well
Fangs was a perfect album and the best they did.
Jessy and Josh are in The River Empires now.
“intelligent indie rock” sounds like a phrase out of the groundbreaking pretentious magazine Paste or something. No offense Ryan, but different people have different tastes and that doesn’t make indie better
:(
AWWWW that sucks! I pretty much “grew up” with Falling Up, I was really into their first CDs (loved Dawn Escapes because of its extensive piano use with solid rock), but as I was getting older my tastes were kind of changing too and their newer CDs matched it, so I totall dig Fangs! . I’m sad I never got to see them live, but it isn’t my place to force them into continuing to persue something they feel they cannot. As sad as I am to see them go, I respect the level of thought that they put into their music and their choice to step down. I’m sure it’s hard enough to stop a project that’s been a major part of you life and you don’t need people to constantly question and critizise your actions…so they leave the music scene with much love, respect, and admiration.
I’m at the Parachute Festival all weekend…EXTREMELY disappointed with Falling Up tonight. Their albums are magic, their last live show at Parachute three years ago was magic… so tonight was expecting them to go out on a high (in fact they literally just wrapped up minutes ago). It was UTTER CRAP. They obviously haven’t practiced in years, it sounded like all the band members were singing at some aunties funeral, not a live gig with 20,000 people. They ruined every good song they had, and in response, a good portion of the crowd walked.
They should of considered *not* doing Parachute 2010 in New Zealand.
“Youth group rock” bands generally do not have song titles like “Arafax Deep” or write concept albums about extra-terrestrial children getting shot with interplanetary arrows.
I thought “Fangs” was quite a solid release. I was never a die hard fan or anything but the band definitely showed potential on their last album.
WOW, Parachute Festival Attendee, that sounds harsh. lol. I guess it was time they called it quits then?
“Youth group rock”, LOL. I LOVE how we give EVERYTHING a label.
lol get over yourself, be glad they even came through and played.
yea seriously wht he said, i would have LOOOOOOOOOOVED to have been there!!!!!!!!!!
