So stoked for this album
FINALLY. i saw them live during the summer and it was one of the best shows i’ve ever seen in my life. this band is absolutely incredible. i’ve been waiting so, so long for this album and i’m ecstatic for it to come out.
Love the new song!
ummmmmm….they are on a tour sponsored by burningangel.com…..no respect for this band…sorry
Sweet! I didn’t know the date was official! my birthday is a few days after, so hopefully I can get someone to get it for me haha. and yes! They’re amazing live!
don’t at all mark down the legitimacy of this band by the tour that they’re currently on. these guys are incredibly passionate and forthright with their message. a lot of people don’t quite realize that these guys are Spirit-filled.
well said “the caleb”
meh, how many christian bands have been on warped tour
yea..well, I think that being on toured sponsored by a hardcore porn site says more about legitimacy. As people, they may love God….which I am always in support of, but the tour they are aligning themselves with and advertising at the top of their myspace is disgusting, and they should have nothing to do with it….
Phil-its not the same at all, burningangel is a hardcore porn site, and they are the only sponsor for the tour, I think as Christian musicians/businessmen, you have to draw the line somewhere
true, true. it’s just, i’ve heard of some of the booths and all that have been at warped tour are along the lines. but yeah, agree that it’s different when something is the sole sponsor, agree with Calebs comment further down also. i also take in account that they are on mediaskare and perhaps they were kind of forced to do it. but either way i think we should remember the dudes regardless as they’re on the tour and pray that they can touch lives even though it’s going to be a struggle considering the sponsor
your ignorance makes me sick. what about the hoes Jesus hung with. what about mary mag. as she was thrown at his feet after the guys like you ripped her off a guy she was having sex with for money. what did he say to them. “those who are with out sin cast the first stone” anbd what did he say to her. “where are your accusers”. what did paul say about sin and grace. “where sin is the grace of Christ is so much more.” there is so much grace for burning angle then you will ever know. so you are going to tell me what xxx church does is wrong for going to porn conventions and setting up a booth. and if its about dirty money that funds the tour. the wealth of the wicked is lay up for the righteous. in the words of sleeping giant “All your views leave you hostage, from love, from the real truth.”
@rob…I can deal with ignorance, but PORN makes me sick…and this situation is a lot different from what xxxchurch does…..and with your logic, would it be ok for a church event to be sponsored by a business that their faith is directly in protest against? like lets say a liquor store, a strip club, or an atheist organization? Its not the same, the world throws easy money at us, and as businessmen of faith, we have a responsibility to be discerning about who we align ourselves with. there is a line, and I think full penetration might be it…..Im glad the guys responded, but when I made the comment above, they had no statement explaining why, as a band of faith, that they were financially partnering themselves with a porn site…..its not ignorant to be discerning, and to have standereds
are my comments getting eaten?
I really like the new song. I got to see these guys play with Venia a couple of months ago and they were great.
I like this band a lot but what is this burningangel thing about? I was about to click over to check it out because I thought it was some zine or something but I’m glad I didnt. What is it exactly?
hardcore porn
Real nice :( I do agree that a line should be drawn but then again people the XXXChurch go to Porn Conventions and those aren’t the most Godly of places to be as a Christian. So it’s difficult to make a judgment. Then again when your name is attached to a company, it’s almost like you are mouthing your endorsement of their product whether you agree with it or not. So in their case, Hundredth is endorsing Burningangel whether they like it or not. They are a great band and it’s a shame that their name has to be dragged through the mud like it is because of this move on their part. What we need is a little clarification on their part like maybe an interview with them or something. Who knows, maybe one of the guys will read this post and come on here to make a statement?
again, i’m not sure why they’re on a tour backed by something so disgusting, and i agree with you that the line has to be drawn somewhere. if i was in a band, i’d deny going on the tour immediately just because it generates even more publicity for something so vile–but that is my own personal opinion. you’re right that they should have nothing to do with it, and i’m not exactly sure why they are–and although it bums me out that they’re on a tour that is being backed by such, i don’t doubt the legitimacy of the band. we also have no idea how the band was on the tour–if they hopped on before the sponsor, if their label pushed them on the tour, et cetera. let’s not jump to anything here. however, i am pretty bummed about the tour itself. the whole idea is dismaying and utterly degrading to daughters of Christ whether they recognize it or not. however, Hundredth might be making waves with their ministry on this tour. i’m praying that they do. this is a powerful band.
I will see if I can get Chadwick to chime in on this post or do a separate interview
Hundredth is going to respond shortly
sweeet
This is Hundredth’s response
Hey Steve, we don’t have wifi at the venue tonight and its a little weird trying to post this from my blackberry, but will you please post this for us?
Thank you guys so much for the comments and for caring enough to post your opinions and concern. It really means a lot that there are believers who are looking out for bands with a purpose such as ours.
That being said, I just want to clear up a bit of confusion. We were already added to the tour prior to hearing that BurningAngel would be contributing finance for promotion. When we got the news and were asked if we would still like be on tour, it literally wrecked our van for a couple days. And we wrestled with the decision to leave the tour in darkness or to use it as a means to spread our message. As we all know, every band everywhere has a message they want to convey. Since the beginning of this band, our purpose has been to get our hands dirty and spread positive thinking and hope to people in a way that hasn’t been done before. I heard Andy Stanley and Craig Groeschel say once that “if you want to reach people no one else is reaching, you have to do things no one else is doing.” And I think this is true in our case. We knew we would get slack from Believers everywhere for remaining on the tour, because it is definitely a gutsy move, but our aim isn’t necessarily to please other Believers. We aren’t trying to do what the American church has been doing for the last decade. It’s time for new ideas, and a new movement, and we believe raw intensity will spark it. Our aim on this tour is not to shove our message down anyone’s throat, because that is being done far too much in our scene. Our aim is to be real and honest with everyone, and if we have the chance to impact people along the way in a positive way, we have done our job. Our band is fueled by passion, and we are passionate about seeing people turn their lives around for the better. We just have a new way about doing it.
We love playing churches and coming alongside their vision, but we feel like there’s gotta be more. If we are unwilling to go into all the world in proclamation, then what is our bands purpose? Us playing all-Christian tours all of the time, and only playing in churches is just further separating us from those who really need the hope and positivity we are trying to spread. After all, Jesus didn’t come for the healthy, he came for the sick. (Mark 2:17)
More than anything, we need the support of the people who care about us during this tour. So whether you have lost respect for us for this decision, or you believe in what we aim to do, please keep us in your thoughts and prayers.
If you believe this tour will cause you to backslide in your faith for any reason, please do not feel obligated to come to the show. We will be back in your town under different circumstances soon.
Thanks again for your concern, it means a lot-
Chadwick & the dudes.
Amen
Shamefully never heard of this band but this response is fantastic. Hope God really blesses their time out on tour.
I think this is an awesome response
As do i. Mad respect for that. Prayers will be with them for sure. Any honest dude is gonna find lust a hard one to overcome!
I definitely respect them for that comment and it’s cool of them to take time out of their busy tour schedule to drop us a line! I don’t think it would be easy for any of us to be in their circumstance right now, it takes guts and a bit of self control to be a member of hundredth at this moment. I guess if people like the xxxchurch can go into the world of pornography and impact people for Christ , so can a band like hundredth. All we can really do is just pray for them and offer our emotional support as fellow believers. Let me say this though, I certainly wouldn’t contribute any of my hard earned cash towards this company.
I’ll be praying for them for sure
Agree or disagree with their decision, I think we can all agree they need lots of prayer as they try to be salt and light in this particular situation.
These dudes are solid dudes. I’ve spent days/weeks with them here and there, and honestly stand up dudes through and through. I am glad they are still on the tour, cause honestly, it will bring more kids to them/God. Isn’t that what most bands/Christian bands want? To either have fans or talk to people about their beliefs face to face, not over the computer in a post that they had to get a friend post for them. All though, every band big or small in the underground market will get some kind of slack from some internet news site, but they responded well and tasteful.
I back these dudes hard and am stoked on what they are doing.
after chadwick’s response, i back hundredth and respect its members twice as much. i love these guys and their passion, and primarily their willingness in making such a gutsy and controversial decision. well said, incredible mission. i love this band.
and i’m stoked my prediction was right :P
ie I told you so.
Haha kidding, but it’s awesome!
Im also stoked!
I’ve been listening to their songs quite a bit on myspace and I love it. I’m definitely buying their album in February when it releases. Ps I think Steve should do an interview with these guys, it’d be a good read.
@Brandon
Will do
Chadwick is down for an interview. I just posted a post for some questions.
Wow, incredible response.
Seem like absolutely legit dudes.
God go with them.
Just been listening to the myspace tracks. Love this band!!
This album is going to be awesome! Really digging the new song. Can’t wait for February!
Mad respect for these dudes. If more Christians had that vision for this world, imagine what a revival it would bring. I will support this band and purchase their album when it comes out.
I think that a lot of dudes in this thread are going to (and should) do the same thing.
That music is totally amazing, and I’m not even into that kind of music
I love Hundredth. About the burningangel sponsor thing. I gotta say I disagree with the decision. Now I’m not sure on the logistics of it all, but going on a tour sponsored by a porn site means that at least a percentage of money or funding enabling the bands to go on tour is coming from money made off of a porn website. This is what I find the real issue to be. Now if it’s simply a porn website attaching its name to a tour then I don’t think it’s an issue, but if this porn site funded the tour partially or completely then the band is on a tour that was enabled by porn. Yes Jesus loved and hung out with prostitutes, but I don’t think He would have taken money that they earned from prostitution in order to expand His ministry. Good intentions are good intentions, but God values holiness, wisdom and obedience more because those things are only given by God.
