Attention all IVM Staff Members. I need your Best of the Decade Lists by December 15th. So start working on them. These lists should be for the Top 50 albums of the entire decade from year 2000 through 2009. It can include albums from both Christian and non-Christian artists. Keep the lists saved on your computers until you are given the green light by me to post them on the site. Fusse, Josh, and I will be working on a plan to integrate these lists into the site somewhere under “Reviews”. Guest Lists, we will also be taking in guest lists from any band member, industry person, record label employee, etc. who would like to contribute. Anyone who wants to submit a “Guest List” must send their list in word document format to brandon@indievisionmusic.com. Please include your name and your band or company you represent in the email so I know who it’s coming from. Have everything sent to me by December 15th. Lists should be posted to the site by the end of the year. Well, that about does it. Thanks for all your support and I look forward to serving you up some awesome lists. P.S. someone from Jesusfreakhideout.com wrote me a week ago and asked if they could use our idea of a “Best of the Decade” List on their site and give us credit for it. Lol.

That’s funny since jesusfreakhideout always does a “best of the year” list, but it would be interesting for them to also do a “best of the decade”too. At least theyll give IVM credit for it lol
Haha, and that was my idea too! I’ll have mine cooked up but I’m keeping secular artists out of it for this site. I only review Christian bands here so my list will be the same.
I pretty much only listen to ‘Christian’ artists (obviously some of those bands wouldn’t want to be called a ‘Christian band’ but that’s a whole other debate). There’s only a few bands I like that don’t fit into the category – The Twilight Sad, Snow Patrol, Dead Like Harry, Jose Gonzalez etc.
Out of those, I think only The Twilight Sad would make my decade list.
I wouldn’t know where to begin if I had to compose a list myself.
Would have to limit it to 25 cds or so. Man it would be hard.
Just for fun (now that I’m thinking about it), my list may include:
Dogwood – Building A Better Me
Comeback Kid – Turn It Around
Cool Hand Luke – Wake Up O Sleeper
Madball – Hold It Down
mewithoutYou – Brother, Sister
Further Seems Forever – Hide Nothing
Mars Ill – Backbreakanomics
Stretch Arm Strong – A Revolution Transmission
The Warriors – Genuine Sense Of Outrage
Soooooo many good albums to choose from, but those ones just skimming through my collection would be in the running somewhere.
some itens in your list is really relevent.
like:
mewithoutYou – Brother, Sister
Further Seems Forever – Hide Nothing
Dogwood – Building A Better Me
50 is heaps! But then again narrowing to 25 would be super hard!
Sam – i know you like Hide Nothing but i didnt realise you would ‘Best of the Decade’ it.
Sweet!
Hahahaha – well see Further Seems Forever are a really sentimental band for me, and it’s my favourite release of theirs, so why not?
I’d love to do this. I might do it on my blog later this year.
at one point earlier this year, I was working on a top 10 for each year 2000-2009. Got busy and stopped around 2005ish. Maybe i’ll finish that out and then take my top 5 from each year or something and call it a day.
I would have a hard time coming up with 50 as well. Somewhere around 30 the list would get watered down to just ‘great’ albums and not ‘phenomenal’ ones i think. I’ll just have to put a disclaimer on my list but I can do 50.
One of you guys should include Define the Great Line
Haha, likely won’t be me as I much prefer the other two ‘Aaron’ albums to that one. :-P
Aaron albums? LITSOS i can understand, but you prefer They’re only Chasing Safety to DTGL?
TOCS is WAAAAAAAAAAY better then DTGL. so much more catchy.
doing a top 50 of the decade would be really really hard and just thinking about it makes my head hurt.
my no. 1 would definitely be Fairweather’s “if they move… kill them” though. i know that without a doubt.
Yup, it’s more of a ‘fun’ album to pop in and listen to. I still like DTGL and don’t think it’s bad by any means but it’s not as fun. LITSOS is their best lyrically I think and those things they started doing in DTGL were perfected there. DTGL feels more like a transition album to me.
And, of course, by ‘Aaron’ albums I mean ‘Spencer’ albums, ha.
Fine but i think we all can agree that They’re only Chasing Safety has the worst lyrics by far
Yeah, that’s true. I really don’t go to Underoath for my source of deep, thought-provoking lyrics anyhow (or spiritual for that matter).
haha Michael, that’s a burn on Underoath. Dang. Though you are probably right. I have been working on my list but it includes both Christian and Non Christian artists. I also have decided not to write something under each album, just the list alone will do fine. I may do a Christian and Non Christian list or mix them all together, I haven’t decided yet. There are so many good albums out there that have come out in the past 10 years, it’s nuts.
Ha, I guess it is. I mean, their last album was the best in terms of spiritual content considering most all of the songs dealt with Spencer’s battle with drugs and they have a message of triumph and hope from a higher power in them. I just like their brand of chaotic music with catchy clean vocals, that’s why I listen to ‘em.
I haven’t decide if I’ll do a write-up either. I may only write-up a couple sentences for my top 20 or so which are the ones I’d consider classics from this decade. Anything after aren’t exactly classics but are still fantastic and mostly interchangeable as far as where I position them depending on my mood. The top 20 are locked in though.
I get ya. I might write something simple but I haven’t decided yet.
so…do they need to be in order…or just 50 albums in no specific order?
Well, I was going to just do a Top 50, #1 being my most favorite release. The rest can kind of be scrambled around. It’s up to you.
I cant believe that posted…hehehe
I am going to delete that list. Please email it to me and include your full name/company you represent. I will save it for the “Guest list” section.
nah thats cool, Ill keep it for my site
No Ian, I really want it for our site. I was just saying that I’d rather have it in the “Guest Section” so that our readers have something to look forward to. We’re saving all our “lists” till December for that purpose. So I would very much like to have yours if you’re interested.
No shame in having the list in 2 places Ian, double exposure. :-D
Well since I’ve been on a hiatus this should be a good opportunity to get back at it.
i have already re-worked the overall list (the Christian one is pretty set), and I havent listened the new Swell Season, Converge, Relient K, or Dashboard yet, so those will most likely factor in….then i need to put them in order….I was just showin off my work in process
