Wow…that’s a fun label to be on…….All That Remains is on that label too. Wow…and they’re really awesome now…yeeeaaaa…. :( They fooled me with their Fall of Ideals album. I liked that and then..I will say in the words of Nater…their next album Overcome was a “volcano of poop!” HA! :)

Razor & Tie are best known for their TV Informercial style compilations like Kidz Bop, Monster Ballads, Monsters of Rock, The Buzz Box, etc etc. Current artists are Day of Fire, Dead Confederate, All That Remains, Just Surrender, The Summer Set, and freaking Twisted Sister!!! heck ya! ha ha. It’s kind of a surprising label move but it’ll guarantee tv commercials, major distro, magazine ads, and maybe even an infomercial or two. Maybe they could hire the guy who does the “Slap Chop” commercials to do the Norma Jean commercial. That’d be interesting. lol. Brand New got their start on Razor & Tie years ago.

I felt the same way about the Chariot as I did NJ, but with Wars I really like what the Chariot did. It seemed like they finally took the craziness and put it in a more traditional song structure. It seems more catchy as well. I never thought that I would say that I find The Chariot catchy. I think pigs are flying while hell is freezing over and I think I just saw the cow jump over the moon.

I have always been lukewarm toward NJ. I want to like them so bad that I purchase their albums as soon as they release, and then I’m there listening and the thought hits me that I really need to listen to their stuff more before I buy. Do I learn my lesson you ask. No.

So, I like that my poop volcano reference is catching on.

My friend and I started talking about this topic last night on the way to band practice. He optimistically said maybe they will be better now that they are off solidstate. I ended up telling him my thoughts on how terrible the antimother is, etc.

Then we arrived at our practice space early… there were no cds to put in the cd player in our room… the only one I could find was the antimother. No joke… I bought it the day it came out, listened to it a few times… begged my guitar player to buy it from me so I could buy something worthwhile. He refused and ever since it’s been sitting in our practice space. So for the heck of it I decided to put it in…

and yeah, I still hate it.

another vote for O’God = best. although admittedly, i was listening to it yesterday and realized there were some nu-metal moments on it and was ashamed of myself for adoring that CD so much. but i bit the bullet and moved on. i’m not going to let one of the first heavy records i truly adored become soiled because of public opinion. i hate nu-metal, but O’God is wonderful. the end.

redeemer and the anti-mother were mediocre. i didn’t absolutely hate it, but i wished they would retrace their steps. i enjoyed redeemer for a while and wore it out, but i think i liked the anti mother just for the sake of liking it and avoiding disappointment. i still don’t know where i am with NJ. i’ve looooong since progressed to enjoying far better bands, but i continue to be at a loss as to my stance with them.

but playing all bless the martyr songs is interesting…i’m surprised no one has dared to comment on that. this is quite an unusual and unheard of move. my interest is sparked for whatever is in the works.

With comments like Corey’s it’s not wonder the spiritually of their albums have gone down the volcano of poop. Now they are solid state free so yeah they can do whatever they want. I’m sure solid state was like no cursing, no cursing, no cursing! Oh wait they did on the song “Like Swimming Circles” but I’m sure that’s all solid state would allow!

I wish Corey’s lyrics would go back to the Eso Charis days. =(

Not surprised they didn’t resign with Solid State. Cory’s quote didn’t come across favorably toward SS. Anyways, I have liked the band less and less with every successive release and, if they continue with the sound on their last one, that trend will definitely continue.

They did not leave SS. Contract was up, and they went to another record label, that simple.

Not a big fan of the Scrogin-era stuff, huge fan of the Corey-era though (minus O’ God, which was horrible in my opinion)

I started really liking this band with Redeemer and The Anti-Mother is a great album in my opinion.

I agree with you Anthony. I didn’t like all the guests…only the song with the guy from Helmet was good. I really liked that one actually! But then again, I started to think like Nater. I try to like the Antimother..I really do. Now, I am just really digging The Chariot! It used to be the other way around. I really liked Norma Jean, The Chariot, not as much. It is completely the other way around with The Chariot at the top…at the way top now. Especially after I saw The Chariot in concert last week. That was intense! This concert with both The Chariot and Norma Jean might be good times…AND LOUD! :)

I made the mistake of running out to the store the day anti mother came out… i was mad excited, talked about it at work all day.

I brought it home, and tried to like it… I think I enjoyed 3 songs at the most.
I realized that day that I’m not really a norma jean fan anymore. I love bless the martyr, and O God is decent but it went down hill from there. and by down hill I mean into a volcano of poop and terrible music.
