From the band: “Newsboys recently inked a deal with American Athletics, a licensed Converse distributor, to launch its own line of Converse Chuck Taylor All Star shoes.”
The joint venture commemorates the first time the shoes have been branded with a Christian music artist’s logo. Chuck Taylors have become a cultural icon, donning the names of legendary bands including Black Sabbath, The Doors, Grateful Dead, The Who, Ozzy Osbourne, and now newsboys. An exclusive partnership developed by Bernard Porter (PCG Nashville) and Robert Michaels with newsboys manager Wes Campbell and American Athletics owner Gary Church made this opportunity a first for the Christian music industry.
“American Athletics has placed shoes on the feet of Mel Gibson, Whitney Houston, and the likes of Bob Dylan,” says Church. “But I personally have never been involved with a group as excited to wear Chucks as newsboys. Great group…great shoe. Both are All Stars.”
“The opportunity to be associated with Converse Chuck Taylor All Stars is exciting,” says newsboys manager Wes Campbell. “I have personally worn them for years. newsboys is a great choice to break into this market. We launched the shoes on newsboys’ current The Way We Roll Tour, which kicked off October 1 in Greensboro and will run through mid-November.”
newsboys branded Converse Chuck Taylor All Stars will be available in red, black, blue, and pink, in either low or hi tops. Shoes can be ordered online by clicking here.

…weird…
hilarious.
Do they think they will actually sell more shows by putting the Newsboys name on them? I mean, they might sell a few more shows, but how big is the market for “Christian” shoes?

bigger than you think j-rod.
WWJW What Would Jesus Wear?
why?
If you have a shoe deal, you’re probably a tool.
Looks alright. But I’m thinking it may look better with a star inside a circle where the ‘NB’ sits. I wish Converse would make a shoe like that…
sandals, brandon, sandals.
I am a huge newboys fan and dont care what they put the newsboys name, its newboys boys and if Jesus could i bet he would say these shoes rock. It a new way to tell people about Jesus and to create more newsboys fans, my email is tobymac girl only bacause newsboysluvr was taken. Newsboys U ROCK!!!!
Not sure why that would qualify someone as a tool. I’ll take a shoe deal…maybe with LA Gear.
TheResidentGuest,
You said it better (and more appropriately) than I was about to. Good show!
I think it’s pretty cool that a Christian band is given this kind of honor. They deserve it after working there rear off for years. I mean at least they worked for it unlike all the new secular artists that just walk on the music charts and are given all this endorsement for nothing. It’s cool a Christian band is being sponsored by a clothing company, I mean I read Relient k was sponsored by Abecrombie and Fitch for the first 3 years they existed. So stop hating….. That’s not very Christian to start with.
As consumers who don’t like advertisements, I guess we tend to wonder what bands do when they get into deals like this, but I guess since they don’t make want we think they deserve deals like this. They earned it.
I would like artists not to do these deals simple because I don’t like advertising, but in all honesty their is nothing wrong with this.
hating is incredibly christian. we are to hate evil, not people, but things that say they are for God and are actually against him. pretty sure we’re encouraged to hate that.
not saying that newsboys are a certain way, but to say Christians are not supposed to hate ANYTHING is retarded. we are definitely supposed to hate wickedness.
Abecrombie and Fitch= bad advertising. (in my opinion)
first of all…what isaac said…
second…everyone is a tool…it just depends on if we are a tool for Jesus or a tool for Satan…
third…consumers who don’t like advertisements? how would you ever hear about anything without advertisements? show me a business plan that depends on word of mouth and i’ll show you a company filing for bankruptcy.
I don’t enjoy the music of Newsboys much but this isn’t that weird of a deal. tons of general market bands have sponsorships including shoe companies. I mean look at Vans, they have Bad Brains, Slayer, Iron Maiden, Motorhead shoes, Macbeth has all the little scene bands and their own signature shoe, Draven has all the punk bands and their shoes, etc. It was only a matter of time before a big Christian band got a sponsorship (from a Shoe company). You have to realize that a majority of those Hot Topic band tshirts you see in their stores are sort of a sponsorship between Hot Topic and a particular band. Money goes in the pockets of both Hot Topic and the band.
The difference is that the shoes come from Vans’ factory with the band logo on it. This is not a sponsorship from a shoe company. Converse has nothing to do with it at all. It is only a guy making money off putting their logo on shoe he already bought from Converse.
i wanna see tdwp flip-flops. \m/
Love the shoes, I just became a Newsboys fan, mostly because Michael Tait is in it now, but they do their thing anyways so, kudos and much love to you.
HA! I would love me some Demon Hunter shoes with their skull on it! Or Living Sacrifice shoes with their 2 skulls logo on them! Or even a Becoming The Archetype shoe with the bearded skeleton head! That would be something! Ideas, ideas…HAHA!!!
British knights anyone?
how do you see them? I went to the website & don’t see them.
You don’t see them because Converse is upset about it.
Let’s get this straight. This band does not have a shoe deal with Converse. On teh contrary. Converse is probably pretty ticked off about the whole deal. This diminishes their collaborations that have been reserved for legends like Hendrix, The Who, The Dead, The Doors and Kurt Cobain.
A Newsboys fan, who sells Converse shoes in his store, buys the shoes from Converse, embroiders the logo on it and then sells them to other fans. I’m sure the Newsboys get some cut but the real winner is the store owner.
Done like this, I can have my own line of shoes in ten minutes.
