Cool Hand Luke have named their last and final album, “Of Man”. Some reworked/rearranged versions of a couple of older songs will appear on the album along with some new originals. Though I am clearly saddened by the departure of this legendary band, I can only hope that Mark will continue on making music in one way or another. If you don’t own the last Cool Hand Luke album “The Sleeping House” or you’re a relatively new fan (noob), definitely check out The Sleeping House on Itunes or other digital retailers. It’s well worth the money to purchase. [thanks to our insider for giving us the title of the Cool Hand Luke album]

The Sleeping House is a good album but I still think Wake Up O Sleeper is still their best album.
Lets not forget that these guys have “broken up” once before (remember Mark playing for the Chariot?). Anyways, I agree with you Jared, Wake up O Sleeper was their best. The Sleeping house (which I did download) was if anything, decent. Truthfully, listened to it like 3 times and havent played it since. Hopefully, this last effort will conjure up those old feelings I had when listening to WUOS. We’ll see.
“I’m seeing sideways
Because I’ve fallen down again”
At least we get one more before the end. The Fires of Life was legendary, and definitely one of my top albums ever.
Do we have any idea when this will be released?
Sorry for the miscommunication, the new album will NOT have the re-recordings of old songs, but will instead be a concept record which Mark began formulating shortly after “The Sleeping House” was recorded back in early 2007.
One of the songs was apparently played as early as May 2007 at Cornerstone Florida.
It was incorrectly fan-named “If Jesus Had a Girlfriend” but Mark has since cleared that up, explaining that it was not written about a relationship of that nature. A low quality video can be seen on youtube.

As for the reworked songs, there was no mention given to how they will be released. Since “Of Man” will be the last album though, it seems likely that an iTunes ep (such as the “Buy the Truth EP”) could be the answer.
Mark also said he may go on to record music in the future, just without the Cool Hand Luke name attached.
This will be a sad day; I’ve loved everything this band has done and have been rocking their stuff since about 2000 when I was in HS haha.
I am still terribly upset that I lost my physical copy of the “…so far” EP sometime in college (before I had an ipod and had my full digital library…so I had no digital backup to fall back on >.<).
If anyone on here happens to have that (perhaps someone like Brandon who also has been around this for awhile) let me know. My CHL collection feels incomplete without that nostalgic disc!
I used to have the two Cool Hand Luke albums before they got signed but I sold them a few years ago. Sorry :(
no worries! I’ll track it down somehow haha. Thanks for responding.
I happen to have those two discs (so far and I fought against myself) But yeah I will very much so miss these guys. Great music and even more important great lyrics
