Ah yeah! This just made my day. Glad to see sum REAL metal bands getting back together.

Sweet. This takes me way back… I remember buying Bloodgood’s first s/t CD in 1986, two years before I got saved. It was just killer metal. This was the music I was raised in the faith on. Barren Cross, Sacred Warrior, Vengeance, Jerusalem, Leviticus, and Bride. But, man, if you’re gonna release something new after all these years… why not get Zaffiro. David Zaffiro > Oz Fox.

Next on the list of come backs… Sacred Warrior and Whitecross!! Gosh, I’m gonna have to have DaleH come by the house so we can watch the Metal Marti Gras video.

Whitecross = pure metal bliss! I love them so much. I just got back into Whitecross with the greatest hits album the label released like 2 years ago. Such good songs on that. In fact, I prefer Whitecross over Stryper any day of the week. Anything pre-Unveiled is good stuff, anything after was pretty terrible.

  • Scott.L says:

Brandon – Ditto! The guy that led me to the Lord (currently pastoring in the Seattle area) was in a band that opened for Whitecross back in the day. I have great memories of hanging out backstage talking to the Whitecross guys. Great guys. Rex Carroll was a bit standoffish… but Scott Wenzel was way cool. For a young Christian like myself, it was so awesome to meet a musician I admired that had a sincere desire to serve God.

These type of bands are a bit of a dying breed… (dead already breed) but I can remember bands like Bloodgood that actaully had the brass to preach the gospel from the stage. They weren’t hiding behind some cheeseball “it’s only a job… like a weatherman” excuse. They let it rip and touched hearts rather than just tickling ears.

  • DJ B.K. says:

While I do wish there were more bands that did preach from the stage. Let’s not act like it’s the “best” way. There are many different types of people that need to learn about the gospel in many different ways.

  • Scott L says:

I re-read my post looking for the spot where I mentioned that preaching from the stage was the “best” way. Maybe you can point it out to me ’cause I sure couldn’t find it. At any rate, to clarify your misinterpretation, I believe that personal evangelism is the “best” way. That includes a good many forms, styles, and techniques. But I’ll say this, I believe that every band that names the name of Christ and every Christian in a band or however they want to label themselves, has a responsibility to share the gospel. To waste such an amazing opportunity is a terrible thing. And I believe that bands will be held accountible for what they did or didn’t do. Just like the rest of us will. But, man, to have had the opportunity to stand before hundreds… maybe thousands… with the ability to say anything you wanted… and to leave God out of the picture. God didn’t bless us with talents so that we could squander them on playing rockstar.

And I agree with your statement that there are different types of people and that those people will need to be reached in different ways. Paul said that he became all things to all people so that he could win them to the Lord. My point however is that we need to use whatever means are at our dispossal to do just that… try to win them all to the Lord. If the harvest field that God has placed you in is an auditorium or a club or a bar full of people… use it to win them to the Lord.

    • DJ B.K. says:

Sorry for misenterpreting…That’s all I got. I guess I felt like I had to say something because the whole debate about how to share the gospel bugs me at timkes or w/e. I just feel stupid b/c I knew it was likely I’d regret whatever I typed. Continue talking about Bloodgood now, I just had to explain myself so maybe I’d feel less like an idiot. :p

I think I need to watch my Bloodgood Rock Theater double DVD again. (It’s a re-release of Alive in America and Shakin’ the World -vids)

  • Scott.L says:

DJ B.K. -Please don’t feel stupid… your comments and opinions, no matter what they are, are always welcomed and respected. Everybody may not agree with each other all the time, but, hey… if we were all the same… most of us would be unecessary. :-)

Fusse – Dude, that brings back some memories. I remember watching those in the basement of our church back in the day. “You… you plugged your ears… you chicken.”
