It’s true, the band Oceana, have decided to break up. Their message can be found below
Dear fans,
We know a lot of rumors have been circulating around about us.
We’re sorry we left you hanging so long on this blog.
But unfortunately the rumors are true. Oceana has broken up.
We apologize to all of our fans. You are amazing and are the only ones who made this worth while. We love you.
Thanks to everyone who picked up our new cd. We all put our heart and soul into birtheater and are very proud of the album.
This breakup has nothing to do with any one member. We’re all best friends and we all sat down and talked this through. It’s not that we are not happy with the response from the new album. We knew the change would be a bit rocky and our kind of music isn’t exactly whats popular right now. A lot of kids would rather listen to songs riddled with breakdowns and over auto-tuned vocals. That is exactly why we appreciate our fans so much, you guys aren’t just going with the trend. We all decided that our hearts were in different places at this time in our lives. We’re all young and we guarantee this won’t be the last you hear of us. Maybe you’ll get five new bands out of the deal.
Again we apologize for letting anyone down and we hope you will all support us in our future endeavors.
We love you all and thanks for making this amazing
love,
Brennan, Alex, Denny, Jack, and Rob

Too bad, I liked these dudes!
I never listened to them, oh well.
I’m so bummed! I really feel this band had a lot of potential, and liked their new direction! With so many bands breaking up all the time these days, i almost dont even care anymore. I’ve pretty much grown numb to it all.
I never picked up “Birtheater” (or their first album for that matter). Am I missing something here? Also, it’s funny but Rise ignores all of our emails to them about getting serviced (Free albums for our reviewers). Whatever, their loss I guess, and maybe they are scared of bad reviews or something.
The first album was good, check it out Brandon.
Birth.Eater is not bad. I like it most for the strong, passionate lyrics against abortion.
I’d say Birtheater is worth picking up. That’s true about Rise records though? Haha, well, I guess they should either stop signing all these clone scene bands (for the most part) or get them to branch out.
@Michael Maybe because your review was so harsh they quit. ;) Haha, just kidding man, don’t feel guilty. :) :D
Stephen, if that’s the case I’ll bump it up if they stay together! Haha, it’s probably worth closer to a 7 than the 6 I originally gave but oh well. I will be interested in seeing what the vocalist does after this because I really like his voice. It reminds me of Dead Poetic at parts.
Lyrically: gold, musically: trash.
Overall, it’s a loss for the music community. They weren’t a good band by any means, but the lyrical depth on the new one was intriguing.
yeah they did have potential and they started moving past that post-hxc stuff. i really like both albums though and was really interested in hearing their growth after Birtheater.
John you are entitled to an opinion no doubt, but this CD was practically gold. It sounded amazing and the lyrics were so very well written. sucks that they did, they had so much potential. :(
