I am hearing rumors of a Further Seems Forever reunion with one of the original vocalists. I can’t confirm these rumors because I honestly don’t know, it’s just stuff people are telling me. Does anyone have information on this? It’s kind of cool and all but I was hoping for a Strongarm reunion to be honest.

blah blah FSF blah blah -FREAKING SUNNY DAY REAL ESTATE IS TOURING WITH ALL THE ORIGINAL MEMBERS!!! There would be no Further Seems Forever without Sunny Day Real Estate, this is amazing news!!
these guys are completely emo. sick of it polluting the music scene
you have no idea what you’re talking about and I’d just stop talking right now. This band was fucking amazing and so much more than just another emo band.
what scene would that be…because what most people call “emo” isnt emo at all
So can anyone verify this reunion? Is it happening or not? Sources? It’d be sweet to see them record a new album and put it out on Vagrant Records (Dashboard’s home).
I was told by someone who definitely is in the know that the official announcement is coming in July.
@musicelitist: yeah you wish dude.
@Ian(one21music): just the entire music scene in general. look around you. every single artist out there seems to be either really gay, or trying to copycat underoath, the emo-kings. If that’s what kids are into these days, whatever. You can defend your views, or anything because everyone is entitled to their own opinions, but what ever happened to good music?
No, these guys are full-on sell outs. If they happen to get back together (God forbid), I’d like to see that they dropped the whiny emo heartbreak lyrics, along with their fish-net stockings and mascara (fsf isn’t like that, but most other bands are *coughSHOWBREADcough*)
and by the way music elitist, when it comes to music, nobody is right. everybody is wrong. chew on that.
Uh…Fist, FSF didn’t have heartbreak lyrics after The Moon is Down. And even that was only like…3 songs.
2…the closest Underoath was to emo was They’re Only Chasing Safety, something they’ve obviously left behind.
C. Showbread is also not emo.
29. Good music is alive and well.
No need to be so hostile, is there? Just cause you don’t get it doesn’t make it bad.
*First, FSF didn’t.
I hate it when I do that.
they didnt make any money…how could they be sell-outs?
FSF was a really good band. On the surface, yes, they seemed like a lot of the other bands in the post-hardcore scene. But there was something different about that band, its really hard to explain. If you ever got to see them live, you would understand what I am saying. I never got to see Chris, but I know that Jason was a killer front man, one that I made a effort to see 5 times in one year.
My comment about the emo thing was this: I run a music site, and I am also a music business major, and I do my research to not look like a complete fool. What most people call “emo” today is what we called goth punk, or pop punk when I was in high school. It is actually pop rock with sprinkles of more aggressive genres so that it doesnt look like pop rock. If My Chemical Romance had come out in the 90s, they would have been a “alternative” band.
Emo was actually the marriage between folk music and post hardcore. A lot of the post hardcore guys, who had been in hardcore bands and were now playing progressive melodic rock, wanted to once again take the volume down a bit. Carraba is a good example of this, since he played heavier music early on, decided to sing with FSF, and then created Dashboard as a means to express his thoughts in a more intimate manner. Since the music was emotionally driven, it was dubbed “Emo”
all this to say, dont be ignorant music elitist, emo isnt polluting your airwaves, pop rock and its impressionable fans are…
…jeez he gets on here and is mad about FSF when a band like Jonas Brothers exists….(its kinda like when all the news could talk about was Anna Nicole Smith and you were like “….isnt there a war?”)
oh yea, I wouldnt talk about Josh Dies, Ive met that guy, he’s one tough mother…tiny, but tough
That would be awesome if Chris Carabba came back to the band, I would buy there cd in a heart beat. Please tell this is gonna be true.
“(its kinda like when all the news could talk about was Anna Nicole Smith and you were like “….isnt there a war?”)”
Haha, Ian. Funny stuff. Although, if we’re gonna talk about musical elitism, let’s not dis the entire genre of pop-punk, k? I’m not huge on it, but there are some really solid/creative artists in the genre that aren’t doing any harm. Mostly well said, though.
that wasnt my point, what is viewed as “emo” these days is more like the pop-rock/pop-punk of my day, but its just called emo…so bands that do emo well get lumped in with the more bland mainstream stuff that is overplayed and over done..
I like just about every form of music, but when something is popular and over done (as pop punk was in the late 90s), we see the worst sides of a style of music rather than the good ones..
no man, I love me some Saves The Day
hey, emo is emo dude. to me, fsf just sounds like a heavier jonas brothers to be honest with you.
most of you have NO idea what you are talking about. Yeah FSF sounds like a lot of the crap thats out there. Except its WAY better.
This is huge news. All you whinny 15 year olds need to shut the fuck up and give credit to where credit is due.
eh its not worth arguing with him (as much as I want to haha). I’ll just say that, even as an avid old school hardcore and metal fan, I was a fan of FSF. Great songwriters, their drummer was superb, and their guitarplaying was very well done even if it was not technically very complicated. Also listing bands like underOATH and showbread as emo makes me cringe. oh well tho, much more important things to worry about.
FSF’s guitarists could play circles around many metal guitarists. And they’re way better musicians than Underoath could ever be, that’s not to cut on UO because I like them…but FSF was in a class all their own in songwriting. Each record had it’s own flare and tone, it was cool.
I hope Gleason comes back. He was my favorite. If it’s Carabba it’ll seem like another type of “comback” for him. Plus he wasn’t in the band very long after the “Moon” record. Gleason deserves it.
Just my two cents. Later, ladies.
yeah dude, 15? try 22. that works. like i said people have their opinions, and i have mine. your thoughts mean nothing to me, and i don’t care if mine mean nothing to you. whatever. as someone working in the music scene, you would think i’d know at least a little bit about where the scene is going.
not trying to start an argument, but to be fair, if you truly didn’t care if your thoughts meant nothing to people, you wouldn’t continue to try and defend your position or credibility. plus there is probably more than one person in this thread who has been involved in the music scene for an extended period of time ;). That doesn’t necessarily make your opinion or someone else’s in the industry any more valid.
ok so i don’t post on here much anymore but i do frequent the news and read what everyone is writing and DAguitarmaster is DAidiotofthecentury. are you just trying to pick fights with people? Is it cool to go on message boards and disagree with everyone just to get a arguement started? if so you belong on lambgoat. if you honestly think FSF are like the Jonas brothers then you are complete and total idiot. You have no idea what you are even talking about. Brandon does a good job on this site and i hate when toolbags such as yourself come on here and try to ruin it for everyone. I’m not going to fight with you, i’ve said my peace. just seriously bro… Get a life.
no, well maybe i am not done. it just burns me up that you can just get on here with no sort of evidence or defense just blurt out the most ignorant things possible. If you said you didn’t like some band and then back it up with some reasons why i would let you have your OPINION. but when your OPINION is just a one line “look ma, imma gonna piss’em all off” remark your OPINION then turns to crap in my book. there… that’s my opinion.
I’ve missed Brian around here.
Good to see you’re still alive yo.
yeah still alive… Sam what’s up bro! i took advantage of the facedown summer sale and picked up today forever full length for like $2.00. Have you heard it? it’s so good!
Hey bro, nah haven’t head it myself.
I’ve been really digging Take It Back!, The Red Baron and Madball recently (so just as usual haha).
Waiting for Gravemaker and new Sleeping Giant to arrive!!
(This suspense…is killing me…)
DUHguitarmaster – Working at Target selling music/electronics doesn’t count as “working in the music scene”… and certainly doesn’t lend your opinion any more credibility than any other faceless yahoo with an internet connection.
For the record Underoath is so not emo it’s scary that the clarification even has to be made. The problem we’re having here is that the distinctions between genres and subgenres always become blurred over time. Mineral was emo. Brandtson was post-hardcore. FSF was one of the bands that began the transition from true emo to what is now referred to as emo (but is really more of a whiny pop-rock). Also for the record, I think Jonas Brothers are officialy considered suck-rock.
amen Scott. Thats it, no more debate with the guy that hates everybody else’s music. My main thing that if you want to start an argument, which I think was the only possible outcome that could have come from dissing a band who 60 people in the same room say that they love, at least be able to back up your statement.
You say you are in the music scene, then you have a LOT to learn, because knowing these types of distinctions , and how to defend your point can only help you.
Realize, that, as stated before, you arnt the only one “working in the music scene”, and if you are only 22, then there are a few of us with quite a few years on you…
anyway, Im over DAGUTIARHEROMASTER.
Further Seems Forever and Sunny Day Real Estate will have shows in my near future. Lets all sleep on that
hey, look ma! it worked! haha why would i need to back up my opinion with proof if it’s only an opinion? wow, this site is overrun with pricks! and i never said i knew everything about the music scene. but i know im not clueless about it..im not the kind of person who just disses bands i hate just to start an argument. i guess change has come to america. we can no longer voice our opinions without being slammed by other posers. and to the dude that said i work at target, you crack me up dude
@justmebrian let me have my opinion? wow..what would i ever do without you?
I’m glad you enjoyed it. I even thought of it myself. :-) Obviously, I’m just giving you a hard time ’cause I don’t know you from Adam (although I do know a guy named Adam)… my point was that talk is cheap in situations like this. From all of us. Your certainly welcome to your opinion, but strong minority opinions will always cause waves to some degree. Glad to see you’re at least a pretty good sport about it.
i wish i knew a guy named adam, cuz it’s an awesome name! yeah i def see your guys points, and i apologize for defaming a band which apparently, many people seem to like..i still don’t like them, but i acted immature about it..at 22, youd think i’d be over that, but obviously it’s something god is helping me with
It’s cool dude, and we aren’t as bad as we sound. I think we just get irritated with band bashing, MOST of us actually really care about these groups and are just trying to be respectful. Granted, some people don’t care, but a lot of us take that stuff personally. You’ll find people around here (myself included) are very opinionated. I don’t think people mean to come off as pricks or anything, I certainly don’t.
im not sure which is more awesome…that brian broke his year long shun of ivm or that someone called underoath and showbread emo bands. worst take ever.
Whoa you guys are getting close to 100 comments.
I’m glad so many people are interested in this, even if only about 10 of these posts have been relevant to the topic! Can’t wait for a full-on announcement.
yeah sorry about calling you guys pricks as well..thats def not showing christ in my life
oh and glad i could get bryan out of his year long shun lol
I’ve never seen them live,so I wonder if they’ll tour if their getting back together.
tyler i haven’t been shunning you guys. i am just really busy with an 8 month old rolling all over the place and the new rubyz release. i really just can’t get enough of it. it’s phenomal. Rubyz are the new underoath.
daguitarmaster, sorry for being so brash. i was really glad to see you come around. we are one big happy family here. I want people to acknowledge and appreciate that. I am curious about something though. since you hate FSF and MxPx, what kind of music do you like? top five bands iyho?
Hey Brian, welcome back :) I wonder what’s going to happen when my wife has our twins in February? Will I have much time for IVM? Hmmm….. That’s a question to ponder.
i heard about the twins. My wife and i both say congrats! that’s awesome! You better get all the sleep you can now.
haha I know. Everyone keeps telling me that. Thanks for the kind words by the way.
ummm, how do i know this news is not just complete B.S.? I am getting far too excited.
@justmebrian
my 5 five bands are:
1.Mychildren Mybride
2. Once Nothing
3. Becoming the Archetype
4. Oh Sleeper
5. The Showdown
mainly metal bands, but i do enjoy some “softer” stuff like Haste the Day, Emery, and all that.
yeah, i know that emery is classified as screamo as well, but theres just something about them that rings to me haha
Well it’s July and I haven’t heard anything yet lol.
(chanted) BREAK THE NEWS! BREAK THE NEWS!
definitely having a hard time waiting for validation on this one….
Sorry guys, I haven’t heard anything yet. When I do, it’ll be on the front page for sure.
So does anyone have any insider information on this “reunion”?
I’m still waiting. Their merch guys assures me it’s on but he also said it would be announced this month. so….. still not sure.
I heard from some dude at the merch table at a couple of Mae shows that there was talk of a reunion…considering this was a week ago and it wasn’t prexactly too in depth, I’m guessing he hasn’t heard anything since then. I didn’t go into many details because it was before I saw this thread. We can hope, right? I wouldn’t expect Mr Gleason to be involved in this, though. Frankly, I just want to hear some of those guitar lines again. They were truly a unique mixture of guitar, bass, and drums. Every guy had a solid place in the band. Good times, kids. Also, I cracked up at the FSF/Jonas Bros comment…joke or not, it was funny. P.S. DID YOU KNOW THE JONAS BROTHERS PLAY GIBSON GUITARS OMG!!! Annnnd I’m over it.
Great news. If Carrabba comes back, I’d die for that CD. Anyways, I’m sure they’ll put out an awesome album.
And in reply to daguitarmaster, how ironic it is that you claim to like Emery, because in my opinion, they are the most “emo” a Christian band can get…
Settle down, Matt W.! Back in the day, it was implications like this that spawned full-on message board armageddon! WATCH YOUR TONGUE, I SAY!!!
