Switchfoot will be joining mainstream rock act, Blue October, on a US tour this summer. Blue October is probably best known for their single “Hate Me” released in 2006. Tour dates will be announced on Thursday May 28th, with a PRESALE for the bands FRIENDS OF THE FOOT starting on Monday June 1st at 10am local venue time.

Ugh, Blue October is HORRID. I’m sure they will be headlining too which gives me a chance to leave before their whining starts but Switchfoot should headline. Maybe they’ll co-headline… hmm… I’m still excited for this. :D
Switchfoot put on one of the best shows that can even make haters become fans (as I saw happen last year to a friend that went with me).
I love the new Blue October album, so good for mainstream butt rock. And there’s no way Switchfoot would even be co-headlining this… It’s an interesting pairing to say the least.
I take that to be a stab at Switchfoot John. I’ve heard they are, indeed, co-headlining which is great news. :D
Noooooooooooooo! Why switchfoot, why? ??
well i for one am very happy switchfoot will be going on a tour and i cant say that blue octobers bad but im definatly not going for them….linds4life u ask why..ill tell you why because switchfoot is amazing.there lyrics have a deep meaning not just the oh woe is me my girlfriend broke up with me songs like everyone else.and im sure the colliboration between the two bands will be great..but like i said im only going to attend one of the concerts because switchfoot will be there!time to get out my backstage pass for the switchfoot shows!
Switchfoot isn’t very good anymore. Blue October is quite good. I’m surprised by the hate seeing how they’re quite inventive outside of their radio singles.
I really don’t think it is a co-headlining tour though. If you look at the tour poster, Blue is lister first then SF with a slightly smaller picture. I thins is going to be similar to the tour that BO did w/Yellowcard and Shiny Toy guns a couple years ago. You will see the concerts start about 6:30 with the two opening bands playing for a about 1/2 hour…then SF for about an hour- hout and 15 min. then a full set (2 hrs) by Blue October. I’m not here to dog on Switchfoot as I really have never heard anything by them. Might be great for all I know and will definately check them out before the tour. I would urge Switchfoot fans to do the same for BO…if all you’ve heard is the singles…You don’t know Blue. And if you’ve never seen them Live…you REALLY don’t know Blue
Sure John, Blue October is good if you like more cheese with your whine. :P
I love Blue October and I think people are totally misinterpret their music when everyone talks about how dark and depressing and “whiny” they are. They are not like that at all….if anything they are not afraid ro give a voice to what others are afraid to even think. Everyone has a dark side, if you say you don’t (even you switchfoot fans) then you are lying. Blue October does however also sing about the greatness to hope and never give up in their lyrics…
What I don’t like with Indie kids is that mainstream = bad for them, which isn’t nearly the case for a lot of bands and artists. They also act as if they’ve somehow been “betrayed” by the artists if they choose to sign to a mainsteram label (Mae, Anberlin, P.O.D.). Why is this? I like several mainstream rock acts, mainly because it’s just good old rock n’ roll. Is that a problem? Am i not “indie” enough for some? Nickleback make some really catchy tunes, as do Seether, Papa Roach, Disturbed, Breaking Benjamin and Theory of a Dead Man.
Anyway, instead of hijacking every news article, perhaps I should start a discussion in the forums, haha. Blue October is pretty alright though.
Banshee, fair enough and I think you might be right about the setlist thing. That’s doable at least. They should be announcing the dates soon…
And do check out Switchfoot. I made the mistake of generalizing them as a typical generic rock band until I actually bought The Beautiful Letdown and the albums following. Then I saw them live and they put on an amazing, entertaining show with great fist-pumping anthems. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.
@John Wayne Switchfoot isn’t good anymore?! They’re better than ever! Maybe you need to look past ‘Dare You to Move” and ‘Meant to Live”. I don’t know too much about Blue Oct. but I won’t judge them without checking them out more thoroughly. I suggest you do the same.
@ John Wayne, Switchfoot is a beast live…Jon Foreman and the gang know how to get a crowd movin, I just hate Blue Oct…
