Project 86 have returned to form (and the past) with their brand new unveiled music posted this morning on myspace. The two new songs include “Destroyer” and “Dark Angel Dragnet”. I wasn’t the biggest fan of their last full length but these two songs put me back in their fan camp. I’m definitely looking forward to the new album “Picket Fence Cartel” due out July 14th on Tooth and Nail.

Not bad. Definitely better than their last album
back to form? wow, what terrible “new” music. It sounds like b-sides from their last record. It’s been a long trip away from Drawing Black Lines or even s/t when they were good at music.
A little on the harsh side hxc ; )
I really like both songs. I think they are leaning towards being a bit harder, but also taking some of the progressive stuff from “Rival Factions”, like Normandy, and implementing it in.
These guys always amaze me at how much they experiment with their sound. I agree the last album was lacking a bit, but Project continues to amaze me with each and every tune they churn ourt.
hxc idiot is probably just sir jorge with a more appropriate username.
Haha, totally called that before I clicked on his blog. Score for me. Cue “well it wouldn’t take a genius to figure that out” comments…
hxc idiot, you name suits you well ;)
I thought they were pretty cool.
Their song Evil sucked so bad!! OMG!!
^I hated evil until I experienced it live. Such a beautiful thing… These new tracks are perfectly awesome. (especially Destroyer)
Very disappointed with these songs. Guess I shouldn’t have gotten my hopes up. This will be my break time during Scream the Prayer without a doubt.
I like these songs more than I thought. The only Project CD I really enjoyed was “…and the rest will follow’. Interesting.
I liked those songs and especially the vocals and guitars. I still think that although Project 86 doesn’t fit with the rest of the bands on Scream the Prayer they are a good pick. When you have 9 bands that all sorta do the same thing with breakdowns and the like it’ll be good to have a band like Project who changes the pace and switches things up. Sure, all the scene kids and hardcore dancin’ fools won’t get into Project but they’ll at least be different. I can’t wait to see ‘em.
Project 86 kills it live, always have. Even if you don’t like the recordings you should be able to admit that. There are plenty of other bands to take a break during on Scream the Prayer.
I don’t know if it was just me, but when he started singing on the first song, it sounded exactly like Marilyn Manson singing, haha. I’m loving both songs, though.
@ Manuel:
I thought the EXACT same thing.
I was going to write it, but I chalked it down to me just being odd for some reason (seeing as I don’t even listen to Manson).
Destroyer does sound like a Truthless Heroes b-side and is disappointing. Dark Angel Dragnet is way better with the odd vocals on the verses (never heard Andrew sing so high like that before), and the guitar works are brilliant.
These songs ROCK!
