I Am Empire is a group made up of longtime friendships and collaborations dating back almost ten years. The newest member, Eric Martin on drums, has been a friend of the band for 2 years while the other four members grew up together playing in the same bands throughout high school and college.

The band made a huge impact on the San Jose scene in 2006 and 2007 being known for their down to earth attitudes and infectous style of songs.During this time they released their first album and and E.P.: “A Sail Set North” and “The Cause And Effect E.P.” respectively. (Now compiled into a single album entitled “Letters”)

The Buzz around this band was so great that the release of their E.P. brought in 400 plus people to its release show in May. Then In the summer of 2007, I Am Empire ventured out to Eastern Europe for a 2 month tour with the help of a local promotion company. Though the promotion company left the band with no tour booked and no money the day after they arrived, the band made quick connections and booked their own tour and faced the costs and uncertainties of a foreign country alone. Once home the band quickly adopted a “What doesn’t kill us makes us stronger” mentality and started writing for a new album. This album is full of the bands strongest material to date and they are determined to get out on the road and bring their infectious music to new ears.
